  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) The Rally Crede knows when to hang it up. The work of the Rally Crede is complete. He can now take the ships into the west.
  2. You know the amazing thing...I dislike this administration's work as much as anyone, and all I care about right now is a parade.
  3. Dick Durbin's on WGN. I know that Durbin and Obama had a bet going against Cornyn and Hutchinson, but I don't know what they won. I know they risked some sausage, pizza, & a few other chicago items. Anyone know what they got?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Lets just pray that there's no reason the Sox feel like they have to trade one of them. After this season...I don't think there's a chance in Hell of that. KW might be executed. I think Rowand's even going to get some of the speaking time today. Pods might be on that list too. If we hadn't won it all I could see one of them getting moved, but with a trophy...there's not a chance KW will break that part up. They're under contract, not FA's after 06, and they're cheap. If nothing else, that city (especially the ladies) have fallen in love with Podsie.
  5. The Sec.State of Illinois just said on WGN that they were working on a commemorative license plate for the Sox. They're starting to drop confetti in the financial district!!!!
  6. Besides, even if we don't resign Everett, KW will just trade for him in July anyway.
  7. I gave this some more thought last night...and you know, I've been suspicious of Steve Finley for quite a while. First, he's been one of those ageless wonders for a while...hitting a ton of home runs even last year and he's now 40 years old. This year, he dropped form 36 home runs to 12. That can't all be ballpark effects. He basically did a smaller-contract version of Sosa this year.
  8. I disagree with this post. Why? Because we have too many other options that can hopefully do what he does at a cheaper price. Think about Brian Anderson. Let's say we do bring back Frank...if we also brought back Carl, that basically leaves us no place for Anderson. Carl will make about $4 million more than Anderson next year. That is money that can pay Konerko/Thomas. That money can be used to make us better. And if Thomas is back, or we find someone else to DH, it'd be money paid to a bench player/backup. I would rahter those at bats go to Anderson and the money go to Konerko.
  9. Well, the buses are starting to move...only about 70 minutes late. I love championship rallies.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) We have comcast cable here. I'm pretty sure we don't have it. If they have some sort of a nationwide sports pack you might be able to do a quickie order on it and get yourself access to CSN Chicago...I've done that on DirecTV a couple times - you spend a couple bucks and add in a new programming package for a few days. I don't have a clue if Comcast can do that.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Does WGN have a different station name? Perhaps something like Wsomethingsomethingsomething. I'm desperate to get it out here. DirecTV carries it as Superstation WGN.
  12. The black and white confetti is supposedly shredded up copies of the Sun Times.
  13. I'm recording on VHS...best I can do. BTW, thank Jesus for Superstation WGN.
  14. Well, Oprah did have all the ones my fiance thinks are cute Who else was on the show? According to Jen, out here they usually wait a couple weeks before playing them.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I think youre wrong about the Nuclear Option passing and I think it has everything to do with election politics. There are enough vulnerable Senators in enough states where this wouldn't sit well... GOP Party Discipline clearly isn't there right now. Five senators would need to break away from the GOP to make a nuclear option viable. There are seven moderates who brokered a deal to keep it off the table. Chafee, a vulnerable Republican in a state that hates our administration at the moment, would break away. He's facing a primary challenge from the Republican establishment anyway. Specter might break away as well. Even Santorum who's seen ten to twelve points behind his opponent for next year may shy away from the fight because it would hurt his reelection chances. On the other hand...Chafee's primary challenge might force him into a place hwere he has absolutely no choice but to support it or risk fracturing the Republicans who would support him. Santorum is probably the most ardent Republican in the Senate. He won't flop. Specter...he probably depends on who the nominee is. I'll grant you him. But...this also assumes that the Democrats will be able to maintain a united front in the Senate, and we were uncertain if they'd be able to do that for the lower court nominees if the Republicans really pushed. A supreme nominee would be even more pressure.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) After having more time to think about this, I have to change my tone. If it is a Sox player, it would really tarnish the Sox World Series win for a lot of people. The national media is going to go apes*** if a Sox player was allowed to participate during the entire playoffs if they had already tested positive. The media would not be the only ones going Apes***. I for one would be as well. I would hate that person for life. Absolutely despise them. I do not want cheaters on my team.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) I don't know, you'd think major league baseball would suspend the player for the games immediately following when they tested positive, whether they are playoff or regular season games. However I feel that MLB would NEVER suspend a player for the post season. Any punishment would be put off until the following season. ie: the Robby Alomar situation. By the way...this is a prime example of why MLB's steroid policy doesn't work...a 10 game suspension is basically nothing. It gives people no chance to even get the junk out of their system. It needs to be at least 1/4 of the season, if not 1/2 of it.
  18. I had 1 thought after reading this thread that made me feel a lot better. If it was one of our guys...what do you think Frank Thomas would do when he got his hands on that person? A guy tainting his ring? The guy would not live through it. Not a chance it's one of our guys. Frank would scare them waaaay too much. I wonder how long it would take Sheff to get the "Flaxseed oil" he admitted using out of his system.
  19. Frank had a pair of monster blasts in almost back-to-back games, both of which won games back in June. I think it was during interleague.
  20. There were exactly this same sort of rumors going around in early August. Nothing at all ever came from it. They all focused on Damon. Everyone on ESPN was asking about it, everyone heard it from someone else who was really in the know. I'll believe it when I see it.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Lol well I looked up Chris Young first on yahoo images and got nothing so went with Felix Pie....and I use it for this reason I think that's in part because you used Yahoo.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) The sight of Felix Pie in every thread is beginning to upset me. I just don't like the blue.
  23. Y'all realize we're coming up on 24 hours since the first pitch yesterday?
  24. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I may want it overturned, but not for killing the law itself, but to put it back to the states to decide their own fate on the issue. I'm not trying to spark a huge debate on that 1 particular issue here...but a question...if it were to be overturned, what would stop the Republicans from passing a law at the national level banning it? They've already set precedent by banning a medical procedure under this Congress, let alone whatever precedent they set with the Terri Schaivo mess...if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned, and the Republicans still had a majority in both houses, what would stop them from instituting a nationwide ban? I can't think of anything which would, myself. I think the harder step is overturning Roe v. Wade...once that's done, the Republicans would just need to keep their membership in line enough (and peel off a few anti-choice Dems, i.e. Harry Reid) to get a simple majority in order to ban it completely. Yeah it would face a court challenge, but once the big one is taken down, there's no reason to expect that court challenge would win.
