  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) That's a hell of an idea. f*** it, we could have had him bat for Pods every time this season he had the bases loaded. Hell, aside from game 2 of the W.S., I wouldn't have minded seeing him PH every single bloody time we had the bases loaded this season, I don't care who was up. Name for me a person in baseball not named Manny who is better at hitting the ball out of the park under those circumstances.
  2. QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) I agree with him when saying the only missig person is Robin enjoying this. Perhaps we could load the bases and try to pinch hit him.
  3. I don't actually know where any of these places are having only been out here for 2 years and spent the entire time in Pasadena without a car, so let me ask this...is anyone going to be hitting up any place within biking distance of Pasadena?
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Maybe, but I still think that winning games and a possible World Series ring this year was more important to him than 500 homers. I think that the time he dropped by in Texas to kick a few asses when we weren't hitting, and the time he was waiting at the hotel in Cleveland right after the Detroit clincher (with additional champagne) proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Man I wish he was in that lineup. God I hope we keep him next year and he stays healthy. In 2004 at the start of the season he still looked good enough where 1 hot streak would have put him in MVP talk.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Why does Everett have 6 fingers on his right hand? and 4 on his left? Much like the Panda...Carl Everett's lineage involved a strong selective pressure towards having another thumb. An example X-ray is seen here: In order for the body to conserve the extra energy needed for this additional thumb, his thumb on his left hand gradually began to decay due to lack of use. This fully explains Carl Everett's prowess at the plate, and most likely has something to do with why Kenny Williams keeps trading for him.
  6. You know, as this series has gone on, the articles written by the ESPN.com guys have become more and more entertaining.
  7. Will be staying completely sober that evening. Why? Because I've got probably 60 years left on this earth plus or minus 20, and if the past is any guide, I'm gonna want to remember tonight for a LONG time.
  8. I have a class running from 7-9 Pacific Time. I'm hoping to God this game runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 hours so I can be around at the end. Otherwise...there's 2 VCR's running, 1 on Fox and 1 on WGN.
  9. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Delivered by DHL in case anyone wondered!!!
  10. At the end of this decade...that 11:30 block may rapidly become must-see TV on 2 different channels.
  11. QUOTE(easyw @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) I'd put the 05 Sox ahead of all 6 Bulls titles combined. But then again, I'm not much of a basketball fan. Personally I'd agree with you but then again I'm a basketball fan but an absolutely monstrous baseball fan. But I think Jordan winning his first title and building his team into a dynasty was a huge national story.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I think the starters pretty much stay the same, because I dont know if Count and Garland can match exactly what they did this season, but I also expect more results out of the 5 hole with Brandon. I think that our starters can actually be even better next year all around...think about this, if Jose takes his 2nd half and has it for a whole season, wouldn't he win a cy young? What about Buehrle...he struggled in the 2nd half when I think he was tipping his pitches. Garland hit a bit of a 10 game slump where he couldn't get his breaking stuff over. BMac struggled during his first appearance up. Those 4 guys, if they avoid injuries and keep their heads in the games, could all conceivably make a run at the cy young award.
  13. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) bandwagon people are starting to piss me off. And 3 or 4 years down the road, a lot of those bandwagon people are going to have kids. 60 years from now, those kids will be lifelong sox fans.
  14. QUOTE(ShoelessJoe2005 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Yes...Just one more win and finally the wait is over for us fans. Besides my Ducks going to the Finals in 2003, this is the best time I have had. Dude, I'm only going to say this once...put the freaking broom away until the game is over.
  15. Our pitching staff could very well be even better next year than this year, with BMac taking up the 5th starter spot instead of El Duque, El Duque maybe working a long relief role (something that has been missing this year), and Jenks starting off the season as closer instead of Takatsu. Then again, a lot depends on things like making sure people stay healthy.
  16. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Well, there is our jinx. I hate M&M. It worked in ALCS Game 5.
  17. I said roughly 1 week ago in a thread here that if the world series came down to a decision between whether we would carry Blum or Gload on our roster, we were in serious trouble. Boy, was I ever wrong. And man oh man am I glad I said Blum.
  18. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) weve seen this pic up on the board at least 6-7 times, but what is really a shame, I havent seen the new huge banner that hangs outside the cell. Grinder rule#?? Cying in baseball is only acceptable when the champaign gets in the eyes Anybody got a pic of that by chance?? Actually, I'm quite certain that a picture of that was posted here a couple weeks ago. I've seen it, and that's the only way I would have.
  19. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) That article has to be from The Onion. Sports Pickle is basically the Onion except with sports.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:58 AM) I was so calm the entire game. For some reason I knew this one would end up as a Sox win. I was humming don't worry be happy and offering no worries y'all to everyone. In fact, I was laughing as the Astros built a lead, knowing it would make the resulting come back that much more sweeter. I was convinced when I look at how we had only Marte left after Jenks that we were going to lose. I really was.
  21. Joe Crede A.J. Pierzynski Scott Podsednik Jermaine Dye Tadahito Iguchi Juan Uribe Aaron Rowand Paul Konerko
  22. My laptop battery was dead so I couldn't do this last night, but here goes: Kenny Williams Geoff Blum Mark Buehrle Jon Garland Damaso Marte Bobby Jenks El Duque Luis Vizcaino Ozzie Guillen
  23. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) I would rather the Sox close it out quickly and not give Houston any signs of life.... No team has ever gone up 3-0 in a World series and won it in less than 5. Only 3 teams have ever even gone to 5 after going up 3-0. I don't want to be the first.
  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) umps are only human. Unlike our baseball team, who seemingly are a group of supermen assembled by the Word who took human form once more in the form of Kenny Williams.
  25. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) I don't really blame the umps on that call. It's that stupid ballpark. There were no protests from the Sox bench, so replay wouldn't have helped. Forget the roof controversy! Have them install some kind of seats or basket or, hell, anything out there to help establish a legit HR. If nothing else...that stupid ballpark came back to bite them in the arse when the ball bounced right back to Uribe on the hit in the 8th inning.
