  1. Sitting down...listening to Thunderstruck...
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Alright I'm heading to the game. damn that must be nice to say.
  3. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Who is announcing for ESPN??? I PRAY its not Berman and Brantley!! Anyone know?? I'm pretty sure it's Berman, Piazza, and someone other than Brantley who I can't remember.
  4. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) don't know why, but i feel that way too. You know....playing in Anaheim or NY 3 games down doesn't do it for me. Well, if it was against the Yankees...they might just panic if they get up 3-0.
  5. Just don't bounce it Frank. And make sure you're back in that right handed batters box next year.
  6. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I'd feel more relaxed with DH in that closer role. Jenks is impressive most of the time. Most. Still, we're sitting better than the Bosox in that department. I'd feel more relaxed with the DH from April/May in that role too. But the problem is we just don't have that DH right now. If Dustin's back was giving him no pain at all, he should be closing. But it's been bothering him all season, and the doctors have reportedly told him it'll take the whole offseason to get himself healthy. We can't afford to give these guys anything easy...if Dustin comes out and his back starts acting up just a little bit, it could turn into a walk, and with that Red Sox lineup, that walk will probably turn into ar un.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Why in the hell is Garcia starting game 3? garland deserves to IMHO. He has the most wins. The problem i have with Garcia is that 1st inning. In the regular season against a weak hitting team that might be ok however we don't have the offense to climb out trailing 4-0 in the 1st inning. Who would you rather throw against Schilling? Personally, I want JG out there if we get to game 4, because I don't want it getting to game 5.
  8. Man, here's to Ironic timing. Happy Birthday son!
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Since we don't have a true, full time bawston sawks troll, REDandwhite will have to do. Well you do have to admit, it's pretty rare that we actually have need of one.
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) First round picks? And are they conditional? I'm sure they'd have to be conditional...I mean, would you deal 2 #1 picks for Curry? Although, I'm not sure I'd put it past Thomas.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) lol. This news isn't anywhere close to as huge as when Jordan retired. Hmmm...the best player in basketball history retiring...versus the Bulls trading a 16 point a game scorer. Yeah...so 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time tomorrow on ESPN.
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I can't understand Curry & I can't understand the Knicks. The Bulls offer him $20M/50 yr if he fails the test. This is a PR nightmare for any team trading for him. If he plays w/out taking the test & God forbid a stroke or even worse a fatality occurs the franchise will be viewed as stupid, ignorant, & heartless. What franchise wants to risk that? What's worse is why isn't the NBAPA doing something? Why don't they arrange the test in private just so Curry himself knows his risk? The NBAPA would never arrange for something like that...even if it could cost a person a life. They're not as strong as the MLBPA, but there is so much potential data in a DNA Test...from conditions that could develop as people get older to information on how the body will react to different stresses that it would be absolute insanity for the NBAPA to push that in any way, shape, or form, at least if their job is to represent the majority of their clients. Imagine yourself in this position...you take a DNA test for 1 particular condition. You pass on that condition, but you learn you might be at risk for heart disease. How would you respond if that leaked out to your insurance company? What would they do? If an NBA Team got hold of a player's DNA test...it could cost the player millions of dollars. That's why Rose has been so adamant on it. If Curry was smart he'd have it done himself and have the doctors sign all sorts of legal waivers making him a billionaire if the results leaked out, but any sort of public pressure or release of details would be a horrible thing.
  13. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Here’s a (unintentionally?) funny paragraph from a New York Times profile today: She’s sounding a little like a conservative version of Janet Reno. Any bets on how long before the rumors start? Well, she has backed "Civil Rights" for homosexuals. Link
  14. Let's see...if this makes sure we have the money freed up to resign Hinrich, and in the future Deng and Gordon...then this is a wonderful move. If Eddy Curry comes out and turns into Wilt Chamberlain...well, in that case it might not be the greatest move ever. But that's about the only real way that trading him at this point has a downside. But anything less than that...and Pax managed to trade off a guy who was not going to resign with us next year, who may not have even played for us next year, and who never seemed to fit in with this team ("jump"). I hope he got some draft picks out of it. I have enough faith in Pax so as to say those would be more valuable than any players he'd pick up from NY.
  15. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) including the crushing Game Three squeeze bunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last time we played them I think we had 2 of those in a row.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) No matter what happens tomorrow, Contreras proved to me he was legit this season. He'd be an ace on at least half the teams in baseball. Fathom, just in terms of the discussion we've had previously...tomorrow is actually very important for Contreras, in that it's his best chance to prove to the rest of the league that he's come around and become a big game pitcher. You've suggested in the past that you'd be willing to consider trading him if the right offer came along, since his value may never be higher than it will be after this season. Well, for that to be the case, he actually has to perform in the playoffs. If he does so, his value could go through the roof. If he doesn't, suddenly he becomes a guy that you can't count on in big games.
  17. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) they made the world series in 1959 and they forgot that too How does that fit into any of the questions?
  18. QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Kruk played for the Red Sox?
  19. 6) Which would you rather see? 58.4% White Sox win first World Series 41.6% Red Sox win back-to-back WS titles after 86-year drought\ Even if they screwed the question up...it's nice to see sportsnation might actually have a soft spot in their heart for us.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) Sinkerballers do better when they're tired. Then why don't teams pitch them on 2 days rest more often?
  21. Link Did we use up all the Champagne last Thursday?
  22. I know he's fairly young...but thank God Hunter Wendelstedt is not amongst that group.
  23. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) If we keep Ortiz & Manny away from RISP sits & we should win. And taking home the "Easier said than done" trophy...to go along with his earlier win for "Most obvious statement in human history"...Juggernaut!!!
