  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 07:46 AM) I guess AJ Burnett doesnt look that good right now huh? Ditto Jason Schmidt.
  2. I think Crede has a very good bat slam as well.
  3. QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) If we win today, and we better, then only 3 teams can get to 96 wins, and all of them would be in. No playoff would be necessary. If 3 teams make it to 96 wins, we would win the AL Central by virtue of a tiebreaker, Cleveland would be the WC winner, and either Boston or NYY would win the AL East. Here's a question...if all 3 teams wind up with 96 wins, the Sox would clearly have home field advantage in the ALDS...what happens with home field in the ALCS? Best record head-to-head?
  4. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) That makes sence. I am so damn confused over all of this playoff crap. Lets just win out and finish with 99 wins. Well, we do that and we're handing Boston/NY the Wild Card. Guess the question is...do we want Cleveland or Boston to be in the playoffs, and do we want to face the Angels in round 1 or do we want to face the AL East wild card? Eh, who cares right now...in 4 hours the only thing I care about will hopefully be sorted out.
  5. Freddy, other guys... Today I am wearing: My 2000 AL Central Champions T shirt. I NEED A NEW WARDROBE! Give me a reason to go spend some money.
  6. Fathom...there's just something about the fact that you're the one posting this which really disturbs me.
  7. The D Rays have ripped the Yankees and the Indians this year. I love that team.
  8. Damn, I'm kinda sad that I missed all the fun and angry math while at class. Yes everyone...we win tomorrow and there is no way we cannot win the division even though the magic number will be at 1.
  9. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Aren't we in right now considering the Yankees and Red Sox play three more times? Let's say Cleveland does win out and we lose the rest of our games. They win the division, we are 95-67. Let's say New York and Boston go 2-2 New York:95-67 Boston:94-68 We're still in! I've tried every scenario possible, I'm pretty sure we have clinched a playoff spot due to the three games remaining between the Yankees and Red Sox. Can anyone verify this? New York goes 2-2 (win 1 from the Red Sox), Boston Goes 3-1 (win 2 from the Yankees), the Sox lose out...all 3 of the teams wind up tied, and we go to the 2 level play in I believe.
  10. If we don't need to use Jose Contreras in the final game of the season...then Jose Contreras starts game 1...and therefore, he'd also start any game 5 clinching game Go with the hot hand. Especially when it keeps striking people out. Lots of people have said that in the playoffs, finesse pitchers don't perform as well as strikeout type pitchers with good fastballs. Jose has a good fastball, and he's our hottest pitcher. I want him on the hill.
  11. Freddo, offense, etc...at somewhere around 12:30-1:00 p.m. tomorrow I want to have a reason to run through the hallways of my building screaming and jumping up and down until security shows up. GET IT DONE AND LET'S FINISH THIS THING!!!! IT'S TIME!!!
  12. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) im sick of your indians avatar and signature. what kind of sox fan are you anyways?? Dude, you ever hear of Jinxes? It's worked pretty damn well the last 3 days.
  13. QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. i can't think of one legitimate sporting goods shop that would ever carry 30 d-rays hats
  14. You know, Tejada's numbers are incredibly off the 2nd half of the season.
  15. I don't want to trade Contreras either, but just to play Devil's Advocate/Fathom, he's going to be a free agent after next year, so if he puts up numbers like he did the 2nd half of this year, he'll be too expensive for us, and if he doesn't put up those numbers, then we'd have missed the chance to trade him at his highest value (this offseason)
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Told you they'd score some more tonight. Aaron gets it in the air and works wonders But let me ask you this..does Dunn swing for the fences...YES. I don't want anyone that does that. He's a horrid hitter and his OPS/OBP may be great, but he can't handle the bat. Now Manny thats a freaking hitter. Yeah, I'd love to have Manny as my DH too, but you know what? That's a dream which we will never see in our lifetimes. We should be quite happy that our team actually had a hitter like Thomas in our lifetimes. We will never be able to afford a guy like that...what is he $23 million a year or so?
  17. Well Aaron...thank you...that makes me feel a lot better since I have to leave this room in 10 minutes.
  18. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) adam dunn? he can't play the field. and he whiffs about a million times pass on that. Have you ever heard of the DH?
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) there is no way the Sox are going to be able to land 2 big time bats in the off-season. The real problem is that we need a second one. Quite badly. (Can it be #35?) Konerko would be so much better if he had someone hitting in front of him setting him up.
  20. NYY has a good chance at taking a 1 game lead in both the AL East and the Wild Card tonight.
  21. Come on Boys...1 inning, and let's make it 2!!!
  22. And that's an Indians loser! Magic # = 3
  23. 2 simultaneous useful double plays. Wow.
  24. THANK YOU JOSE! Stop trying to make my aorta bust, you bastards.
  25. Baez is in for Tampa. Leadoff single for Crisp.
