  1. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) if rain is coming would you use a reliever to start and save Contreras for after the rain delay? Probably too late for that after Ozzie handed in the lineup card.
  2. It would be nice if we didn't start off the day 0/3 with RISP.
  3. So is gameday just this slow, or is the Detroit pitcher actually taking like 2 minutes per pitch?
  4. AND YES!!! HE GRABS IT!!!! Man it's been too long. Take that base with you, you damn thief.
  5. I think I'd like to see Pods try running here.
  6. Here's the rundown on Rep Blunt, who also was on that list from CREW that I posted a few days ago.
  7. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) good interview with Walker -- says everyone's pressing and that NY, Boston and Cleveland are pressing too. Well...as long as he can guarantee that NY, Boston, and Cleveland will lose every day that we do, then I guess I can't complain.
  8. New update...Bill Frist reportedly made somewhere between $2 and $6 million by selling his HCA shares before the bad earnings report came out.
  9. Scratch earlier post...it's no longer David Dreier, it's now Representative Roy Blunt.
  10. I guess that we can call this good news...even though we're usually a better road team. We finally won something. We won the coin tosses against both Boston and the Yankees. In the event of a 1 game playoff for the Wild Card spot on the 3rd of October, it'd be at the Cell.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) What has he done this year. We all know in the world of baseball, one years performance does not always translate to the next year. He's a whopping 3 for 22 since returning from the DL. Yeah, man, what has he done for us this year?
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) The Democratic party played by a Republican party rule? I'm hearing the Dems don't have this same rule for themselves. Actually you know what, you're 1/2 right, and I apologize. While the Democrats didn't have a written rule, I believe they did remove people from power (Rostenkowski) when they were indicted back int he early 90's. The Democrats put the rule into their party's rules early this year when the Republicans were trying to remove the same rule from theirs. Link
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) half the home runs he hit last year. :banghead .272 BA versus .310 BA. We've got plenty of home runs in this lineup right now as it stands. We need people who get hits...people who are obnoxious outs, people who drive the ball.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) The only thing not fun about the games to me is the lack of execution. I'm to the point where I want to watch our guys pitch, I want to watch us bat with the bases empty or a runner on first, but when we get a guy in scoring position, I basically want to change the channel, because somehow we're going to shut down.
  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) I could see Texas moving Texiera or Blalock for someone like Contreras. And I would take Texiera over PK at 1st in a heartbeat. He's going to be due a huge contract when his is up, though. Let me repeat this again...Teixiera is not moving until he signs with the Yankees in a few years. (Opinion, not inside knowledge or anything like that). Texas loves the guy. They know he's just getting better. They know how cheap he is. And they've been way too reluctant to trade any bats for pitching for me to believe that they'll move him.
  16. Congrats Joey Joe Joe, and hope you can make it back tonight. We need ya buddy.
  17. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) GOP congressional officials said the plan was for DeLay to temporarily relinquish his leadership post and Speaker Dennis Hastert will recommend that Rep. David Dreier of California step into those duties. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/09/28/D8CTCK201.html By the way...since this is a random message board in the middle of the whole world of cyberspace I can do some rumor mongering...I'm sitting in the district next door to Dreier's, and while he's probably a step up from Delay, it's interesting to note that there have been rumors, and some fairly public accusations, that he is actually a closeted homosexual (and, I might add, a fairly reliable vote against anything that would remotely improve the lives of homosexuals in this country...gets a rating of 22 from the Human Rights campaign - a gay rights group)
  18. Personally, somehow I get the feeling that the longer Paulie stays on the market, the more his price will go up as teams feel they need to do something to make a splash this offseason. Anaheim and the Metropolitans are the 2 teams this might be particularly important to - Anaheim is still trying to grow in the LA Market and the Mets are launching a new cable channel. I seriously think that we should make a decision whether or not we want him, ask his agent what it would take for him to sign, and if we decide we want him and can't replace him, we should match his price. The longer he's out there, the more teams will want him.
  19. Are there any pitching coaches in the Hall of Fame? Mazzone should end up there. Last year, I picked the Phillies over the Bravos. I learned my lesson. I will not pick against the Braves until Cox, Schuerholtz, and Mazzone resign.
  20. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) You guys got issues Beautiful reply Nuke.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) This is like Marriotti indicting Hawk, JR, and Kenny. The DEM District Attorney is the biggest political hack in North America. Of course, this ignores the actual facts of the situation. First here's a quote from the Houston Chronicle about Mr. Earle's career... And more details on the man's career from MMFA
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) GOP rules required it and the Hammer always plays by the rules. Please note...the GOP tried specifically to change exactly this rule back in January of this year. There was enough of an outcry, by people including me, the entire Democratic Party that had played by that rule for decades (including the corrupt early 90's), and even many moderate Republicans., that they were actually forced to rescind that rule. It was casually known as the "Delay" rule at the time.
