  1. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) So true. I'm not happy with the Republican party right now either. What, you never thought a Republican Senate, House, and President, could actually outspend LBJ?
  2. If we play good baseball...we can beat any of those teams with ease. If we play bad baseball...we won't be able to beat any of them. If we're playing good ball...I don't care who we play. I'm just going to enjoy watching us dismantle them.
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) Rally Crede has cured my male pattern baldness, chronic halitosis, sleeplessness, anxiety, gout, erectile dysfunction, scurvy, leprosy, and pimples. I believe all the rest were actually side effects of the Cialis.
  4. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) LOL Does anybody care what this idiotic, airheaded singer thinks? Thats what I thought........ Matt Drudge seems to care. And of course, that's the real problem. I don't care...you don't care, but Matt Drudge does.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) I don't think either party has a monopoly on problems. Just because the list doesn't balance equally, doesn't mean these guys are angels any more than the guys who should be on the list and aren't. To paraphrase Kap's logic, there aren't enough Dems on the list, so these guys must be honest. And a liberal thinker would say the same thing if it was all Dems. I would respond to that by saying that there's no reason to assume that the Democrats in Congress are honest, but the Republicans in Congress have ALL the power. They write bills in secret and push them through in the middle of the night with the Dems receiving 1000+ page documents 1 hour before the vote. They completely change things in conference committees and never give the Dems a shot to view the things afterwards. They hold votes open forever in order to bully people into voting with them. They rewrite rules so that they decide what to investigate. They promise investigations and then quietly shut them down when the press isn't watching (i.e. WMD's). The Democrats may well be as corrupt as the Republicans. But right now, the Democrats have absolutely no power in Congress. They can't even start an investigation. So the only ones who even have the chance to be corrupt are the Republicans.
  6. QUOTE(DaGame2584 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Do you think hte Sox would put him on the Playoff Roster? I mean that why is was signed for right? If the Sox only carry 11 pitchers, which is what most teams do in the playoffs, I can't see how they'd carry him. 4 starters BMac Politte Cotts Hermanson Jenks Marte Viz That's 11. So 1 of those would have to leave for us to carry El Duque. Unless Ozzie carries 12 pitchers into the playoffs?
  7. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) The article you reference says that about 100,000 showed up to see the media whore (Casey Sheehan's mom), while the earlier article says an estimated 300,000 showed up. Pretty big difference. That happens at almost every rally...organizers say 1 number showed up, the police say a much lower number showed up. I usually figure it's somewhere inbetween the 2 numbers, leaning towards the side of the police estimate.
  8. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) correct me if im wrong, but isnt the real magic number only 3? since the sox get the nod in a tie breaker, 3 wins or cle losses will leave the race tied in which case the sox will win the division 4 wins or Cle losses. Magic # = 1 means that the guy behind you can only tie. Magic number is 5, so we need 4 Sox wins or cleveland losses to guarantee a tie.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Now that the game is over, I'd like to thank the Twins for this lineup today. Buehrle pitched well, but this was a terrible, terrible lineup. Reminded me of the s*** the Cubs faced in the last weeks of the season during 2003. Detroit's already resting Bonderman...maybe they'll decide not to risk their Prize of Ordonez as well.
  10. And Mark was even nice enough to wrap this one up before the 2nd half of the Pats/Steelers got under way. Thanks man! Real nice of ya!
  11. MARK BUEHRLE...WELCOME BACK...WE'VE MISSED YOU.
  12. STEEEEEEEEEEEROIIIIDS.....STEEEEEEEEEEEROIIIIDS
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Cotts will be the lefty out of the pen. Edit - Hey wait...Neal is actually up!
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Borchard isn't good, neither is Timo. Borchard is still to young to say beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's no good. He's had repeated good years at AAA. He just hasn't yet firgured things out at the big league level.
  15. Come on Mark...get this game over before halftime ends in the Pats/Steelers game.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Quick managerial suggestion: With the loaded bench the Twins have, you have to either keep Buehrle in this entire game or go to Cotts if he needs help. A righty pitcher will just end up with Mauer, Jones, and Morneau batting. Well, as it stands now it would be a save situation in the 9th.
  17. 88 pitches for Buehrle through 7. 6 strikeouts.
  18. That's an amazing hop. Bounced straight up off the front of 3rd base. I don't know if I've ever seen that.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Ozzie is hurting the team by being stubborn and leaving Everett in the order. BTW...I'm not blaming Ozzie for this. He's trying to stick with his veterans, but Everett is just a liability that is showing no effort to try and do better. Not saying he shouldnt' be benched, but Ozzie could just be trying to give him a chance to work out of it. He didn't bench Konerko or Dye earlier this season when they were in funks like this.
  20. Over-under on how many pitches it takes Carl to strike out here. I've got 4.
  21. Man...that shot of those 3 pitchers...that is a beautiful graphic.
