  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) We better win the division. I've been eyeing the Cards gear on MLB.com. The Divison winner stuff is NICE. I'd love to blow some money on the Sox. My 2000 Division T Shirt still gets some good usage. It tends to appear on Geology field trips on either the Friday or the Saturday of the trip. The other day is my "Cubs Suck" shirt from one of the interleague games back in 99. Nice double play. Very nice Freddo.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) I don't mind if we get the WC at all. As long as we get in the playoffs, that's all that matters to me. Besides, i want to see this team play more on the road. Man...if we can't get ourselves up to win a game when the Cell is full AND it's a playoff game... Good pitch Freddo.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) Yah. If we win 96 or 97 games and lose, it was just bad f***ing luck. Typical Sox luck. If we win 96 or 97 games...we better be ready to win 98 or 99 against Cleveland and finish this damn division off. I ain't buying a f***ing Wild Card T shirt. But I will buy a T Shirt at the division. And the ALCS. And about 9 or 10 if we make it any further.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) Great inning!!! Garcia could put the Twins in a huge hole if he can shut them down this inning. BTW, USC is losing to Oregon. That won't last.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) There must be some DH games in there, because the paper yesterday said Dye led the majors in homers by a RF. All I did was go to ESPN.com, go to batting sortables, and sort by "RF".
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Anyone else find it funny when people b**** that KW didn't replace Ordonez's offense? Dye does lead all RF in homers. Vladdy has 31, Sheff has 30...Granted Sheff has played some DH.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) That fist pump by JD rounding 1st is the best thing I have seen out of this team in about a month. I think that swing by Crede a few days ago was pretty enjoyable too.
  8. 3-1 cleveland in case no one saw while applauding Dye
  9. When's the last time we had a 5 run inning? It took us like 2 months before we had our first 1, then we had like 3 in a week back in June.
  10. "That ball was rack-y-tacked" or something like that from Hawk. I haven't a clue what that one means.
  11. YES! Man that's a beautiful thing. Pods leads off the inning getting on base. Iguchi makes an effort to get him over. The Defense makes a mistake. Whoever's hitting third does their job. Konerko does his job. And all of a sudden...no outs, 2 runs in, 1st and 3rd. Man that's a beautiful thing to see. It's been a couple months.
  12. SS2K5...I don't see that we have any other choice right now. Maybe if Buehrle and Garcia both have dominating starts in their next 2 outings, but without that, I go with the hot hand no matter who that hand is. Those 2 have just been that damn disappointing over the last month or so. The rook looks great right now. Give him the ball.
  13. Yup. Exact same thing as Buehrle the night before. Buehrle started an inning after throwing 103 pitches. Pitch 108 left the ballpark and was the last pitch Buehrle threw. Garland put 2 men on with 1 out in the 7th...walked J-Honny to put the 2nd guy on, with Marte warm in the bullpen. Last at bat against Hafner, Jon had thrown like 11 pitches. First pitch to Hafner was pitch 106. Pitch 113 landed over the Center Field fence. I know Marte has been struggling, but you don't warm up the lefty unless you're going to bring him in to face the power bat with runners on in the 7th when your pitcher is clearly at the end of what he had that day. If Ozzie wasn't comfortable using Marte in that spot then he should have had Cotts warm. That is exactly the situation you have middle relief for.
  14. So why did Bush cancel his photo op in San Antonio with one of the Hurricane Rita rescue groups? Get this: It was too sunny.
  15. If we lost the lead in this division...we would need to make the World Series in my head to get me to forget about it.
  16. Even in the middle of the season...i think that our offense panicked everyone a little bit...and now we've shown we deserved it. On the other hand...Jose Contreras finding that control he never had early in the season...wow. I did not see that one coming.
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) And now presenting your game 1 starter for the playoffs, if we make it, ........Jose Contreras!!!!! If memory serves...it would be his turn in the rotation anyway...BMac I think is on tap for the last game of the year if nothing is shuffled.
  18. Man, like 3 months ago I never would have imagined getting back into my office, finding a game in the 8th inning, and seeing Jose having thrown 89 pitches. Thank God the Yankees made that deal.
