  1. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I'm not convinced by that either and I ain't gonna be by another frickin blog. Actually RealClimate is pretty amazing of a site in that it's actually run by, and all of its posts are written by actual climate scientists. They include links to their biographies at the page. They're actually some fairly good names on the list too.
  2. Christ, 4 home runs this series for Hafner. That's 30 this season for him.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) 5th strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin. I believe it's now the 3rd strongest.
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) These are his numbers in Sept. .344 .408 .422 How the hell is that worthless? Do you know how many teams would kill for those leadoff numbers in September this month. He's down to a .324 average this month after today.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Brandon will have to give up negative 1 runs tomorrow for us to win Didn't Garland outpitch santana last year in a 1-0 game?
  6. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) I am starting to believe that one writer from foxsports, saying that pods is the most overrated player in baseball. What does he bring to the table right now? He cant run, and he cant put the bat on the ball, I would rather have Pablo leadoff, atleast he will put the ball in play. Ozuna>Pods--as of right now Although it's going down a lot, Pods is still hitting .324 in September.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) They could have scored 8,344.59 runs tonight and Santana would still OWN them. As soon as they saw the 1st change brown stains would emerge on their collective pants and they would proceed to get 1-hit. We have 1 hope tomorrow. His name is Brandon.
  8. QUOTE(Rally Crede!! @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) I'm sorry, but Podsednik without any speed is f***ing useless leadoff hitter. I said this last weekend and i'll say it again...there are exactly 2 types of leadoff hitters that are successful for teams. 1. Guys with lots of speed. They get on base by using that speed. Infield hits, doubles that should be singles, etc. Their big advantage is that their speed creates problems - pitchers throw the ball away, get distracted, people make errors, etc. 2. Guys that get on base a lot. Damon, Delucci, etc. come to mind. These guys are useful because they have high OBP and start off innings by getting on base before whatever boppers your team has. Pods needs to be the first kind. He doesn't walk nearly enough to be the 2nd kind, and he's not hitting .330. If he can't cause problems with his speed by running, bunting himself on base, etc, then he's a bottom of the order hitter.
  9. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) mccarthy and jenks aren't jack s*** on a world series champion. but we act like they are our ace in the hole. Look, just remember this. Next year, our closer and our 5th starter will be paid $400,000 a piece. It will stay that way for several years. Right now, we seriously cannot afford to trade away young people. This team has a lot of guys getting paid decently well, and a lot of guys who are going to go up in price. The only way we can afford to keep any of these pieces together, including just hte top 2 in our pitching staff, will be to have some young guys take the places of people. You cannot build a team of all veterans on a $75 million salary and have them be winners. You need youth.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Matt Lawton won the game for the Yankees tonight. He was available at the deadline for a minimal cost. Now, I'm not saying we should have gone after him, but there were some players available. However, KW went after the two superstars, KG Jr. and Huff. Please don't take this as an attack, but as a genuine question: where would Lawton actually play? Who would he be an upgrade over (aside from Timo, of course)
  11. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Sweeping the Twins is impossible. Literally. Santana must die between now and tomorrow night for us to have a chance at sweeping them. We have 1 glimmer of hope in that game. His name is Brandon.
  12. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) i don't think we will. this season is a total failure. from reinsdorf all the way down the list. the sox got complacent. they did nothing to improve themselves and now they are paying for it. and the excuse that no one wanted to trade with them won't cut it. they'll trade if you meet their price. but are you saying "Wait till next year?" you sure you're not wearing blue and red? This team did more to improve itself by not meeting people's price than it would have by doing so. By not meeting people's prices, we got ourselves a cheap potential #1 starter and a 100 mph closer.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Alrighty!!! We got 6 outs to get 6 runs! Back in May, that was no problem at all! Let's hope they can pull it out. I will bet we get two runs atleast back in this inning. Actually in May our offense pretty much sucked even worse than now...Konerko, Dye, Crede, Uribe were all mired in slumps...several of them saw their averages fall below .200 that month. In May we'd have won this game 1-0.
  14. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) Why should France have any say in the matter if they're not part of the conflict? Why should the U.S. have any say in the matter if the U.S. can't prove the reasons its giving to justify the war?
  15. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) If you show me more proof maybe. I know he goes overboard and stretches the truth, so I guess I'll say I don't hate it but don't like it. Here's about 1/2 of a day's worth. By the way, he also wished that Hurricane Katrina would have flooded the UN Building a few days ago.
  16. 86 pitches for Elarton through 7. He's retired 7 in a row.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) Wait, we just acquired Mo Vaughn? f*** yeah, he can be our number 3 hitter. I'm sure that'll work well. Just ask the Mets.
  18. 95 pitches for Garland through 7. 75 pitches for Elarton through 6.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) We've seen Santana 4 times this season, and he's shoved it up our ass basically every time (besides the first inning of the first outing). We had never seen Felix, and that was more about hype than anything else. So you're saying we're due to beat Santana...
