  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Just ask the Cubs how this season went for them after having a nasty collapse at the end of their 2004 season. Bring back Dusty and Hendry did that franchise no good at all. The Cubs didn't fix the clear problems they had at the end of last year - bullpen, wounded starting pitchers, Center Field, and then were surprised that those problems remained. Hopefully, if this keeps up, KW will at least do something about it. If this keeps up...KW goes on probation for me. He gets 1 year to turn it around.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Yeah, it is. I have one of the quotes from that as an away message I use quite often. In 2006, Vin Diesel will star and direct the film 'Hannibal', about Hannibal Barca, the Carthaginian General who led an elephant-riding army across the alps to attack Rome in the 3rd century BC. The film is actually footage taken when Vin Diesel led the army himself hundreds of years ago, with the intent of releasing it as a film as soon as Earth technology caught up with his superior, home-made equipment. I've been using the White Sox magic # as an away message for a while. I think I'm going back to "Show me potato salad!".
  3. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) 3. I just found out about the random Vin Diesel facts page (www.4q.cc/vin) and I've been laughing my ass off ever since. Jesus Christ that's incredible.
  4. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) During the pregame interview with Konerko today, he just looked plain tired. DJ asked him a couple questions about the clubhouse and he kind of sighed and said they weren't all that happy right now. And this is coming from the only guy who seems to be playing well...it certainly looks as if the Sox players may be growing tired of Ozzie's act already. Losing will do that. When you're not winning, it's just not fun. We all know that here. This team wins a couple of games...and all of a sudden, everyone will feel good.
  5. QUOTE(HeGone! @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) That'd be awesome but I have a feeling it won't happen. If the rotation stays the same it'll be Garcia, Buehrle and Garland that series, and we all know how Garcia and Buehrle did in their last starts. I'd feel better if Ozzie went to the 6 man rotation right now and McCarthy, Contreras and one of the other s***ty pitchers we have pitched. We should also remember that last time against Cleveland...each and every one of our pitchers completely owned them. Garcia threw a shutout against them.
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) Does this mean we have to take Jon Garland's Cy Young award back. :headshake Where'd all those folks go? They changed the channel last Saturday when Garret Anderson hit that home run off of Garland, thus putting him completely out of the race. I know that's where I went.
  7. Roethlisberger (sp?) is currently listed as questionable for Pittsburgh's game this weekend. McNabb says he's playing for the Eagles. The guy who hit him last Sunday & bruised his ribs was fined like $7500 today for leading with his helmet.
  8. If we don't win the division this season...I don't know if Ozzie should be fired...but Ozzie should resign.
  9. I would like to think that Mark Buehrle still has an ace pitcher in him. I don't have a clue what happened to that pitcher.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Yet some people still refuse to even consider that Ozzie might be somewhat to blame for our starting pitchers tanking. My only question in response to that statement is this; has Ozzie made any of our starters (other than El Duque) do anything this year in terms of innings pitched or pitches thrown that they haven't done before? In 2002 and 2003, Garland pitched about 192 innings. He's thrown 192 thus far this season. In 2004 he threw 217. So he's probably not going to hit his career high in innigns this year. Buehrle - 2002, 239 innings, 2003 230 innings, 2004 245 innings, and after today he's currently sitting on 219 innings. So he's on pace to end up somewhere between 2002 and 2003...basically what he's done his whole career now. In 2002, Garcia threw 224 innings. In 2003 and 2004, he threw 210 innings. This year, he's already thrown 207.2, so he's throwing slightly more than he has the last few years. Garcia is the only one we should expect to be clsoe to wearing down of those 3.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) You're right. KW needs to get some blame here as well. This team has been average at best the last 2 1/2 months this season. He did nothing but bring in Geoff Blum to improve the talent base. Players moved and players were available who could have helped this team. KW listened too much to Ozzie and too much to others in the organization who preached the chemistry BS. For the love of God, the White Sox aren't going to get as many fortunate bounces and breaks as they got the first 3 months of the season, probably for a long time. They are going to have to raise the talent level of their team if they want to be anything but average in the coming seasons. Almost everyone who came talking about trades wanted either BMac or Jenks. Would you have given up either of them?
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) I agree with you 100%. If they don't make the playoffs, it will set this franchise back a few years. The year after the collapse of the Angels...California went 70-91.
  13. I'm still in...which means that every loss from here on out is going to hurt more than the one before it. So we need some damn wins!
  14. Leadoff hit for AJ. Get em on, Get em over, Get em in. Part 1 is complete.
  15. So seriuosly, did anyone see what Cora's sign was when Carl was heading towards 3rd on that play a half inning ago?
  16. First 1-2-3 inning today for Buehrle. 5 straight Royals sat down. 95 pitches through 7 innings for Mark. Come on Offense...Buehrle has done his job today...even more so given the defense.
  17. Thus far tonight, we've booted/screwed up about 3 plays in the field, and we've lost 3 runners on the basepaths. Is this game reminding anyone else of last night's game yet?
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) what the f*** is fgoing on with joey cora. What did Cora do on that play? Was he waiving Carl along at all and switch to the stop sign or did he have the stop sign on early?
  19. Aw F***...Everett thrown out after rounding 3rd too far on a double by Dye. That's our 3rd out today on the basepaths.
  20. Come on Dye...don't let Cy Greinke shut us down for another inning.
  21. Everett gets hit by the pitch...the Royals don't like it...Everett doesn't like it and gives Greinke a nice look... Please let this turn into a distraction. Buddy Bell is complaining Everett didn't get out of the way...yet Huber didn't get out of the way earlier.
  22. You have to be able to say something about steroids and his non-use: Honorable Dignified Trustworthy.
  23. Ok guys...Greinke has thrown 97 pitches...if he comes out, it's time to take advantage of him this inning and get him out of the game.
