  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) This loss is due to Dustin Hermanson not executing in the 9th inning. They had a two run lead, a two run lead is a two run lead, whether it's 9-7 or 2-0. He fell behind hitters and then left everything up in the zone. 4 consecutive hard hit balls, game over. This falls on Dustin Hermanson's shoulders, and Dustin Hermanson will likely be the first one to say so. This ballgame was lost at about 9 different points. This ballgame was lost when Pods misplayed that ball in left. This ballgame was lost when our hitters fell silent against the Royals last few relief pitchers. This ballgame was lost when Ozzie left Freddie out for the 6th. This ballgame was lost when Freddy had his classic first inning meltdown. This ballgame was lost when Freddy couldn't hold the lead. This ballgame was lost when Hermanson couldn't get the ball down. This ballgame was lost when Pods couldn't knock in a run with the bases juiced. This Ballgame was lost when Dye booted the ball. The reason this ballgame was so f*cking ugly was that it was lost at a dozen different places (some of which I didn't mention).
  2. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) 10 runs to KC ......this is nuts .......If Hermanson back hurts so much sit the f*** down.......Nobody is losing comeback games to KC ........Dye wake up! If Hermanson's back is bothering him as much as it seemed tonight, he needs a lot of extra time off. Hopefully it was just rust, but it sure seems like he's not feeling well enough to keep going.
  3. QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Well perhaps, this HUGE bump on the road will make us prepare better for the playoff; that is, if we make it. This divisional race is just too CLOSE for comfort. Man, how I wish we can have over two digits leading our division right now! Well, I guess that's what we have to hope for now...that Ozzie will sit people down, maybe do some screaming, break a lamp or something, and this team will suddenly wake up and realize that they just haven't had their foot on the gas pedal for the last month, and they need to put it back on. God I hope so. This thing could go either way right now. We need a big game performance from Buehrle tomorrow. Hell, we could use a no hitter. We need people to start stepping it up RIGHT NOW. Especially on that pitching staff.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) On the bright side, I won $50 at the pub by saying the Sox were going to lose entering the bottom of the 9th. That was about the only thing anyone could have typed that would make me laugh right now. Thank you.
  5. Eh, he would have had a shot at 100 SB's, and he probably would be hitting over .300 right now had it not been for that groin injury a month ago. Seriously though...I'm too damn pissed right now to be positive about Pods. He had the bases loaded with a chance to put that game away and failed. And let's not forget that ball in left field. Ugh. Man I'm in a foul mood now.
  6. Well, after what just happened...I figured it wouldn't hurt to get the game thread open for tomorrow...just to give us something to get the taste of Wednesday's game out of our mouths. Mark. Simple message. You want to be an ace? You want to be a number 1 starter? Tomorrow's your day to be one. After a night like tonight...we are in desperate need of a win. Mark, we need you. Please. I'm almost begging you. Go get those bastards.
  7. World Series winning teams do not do this in September.
  8. Ozzie made 1 mistake tonight...leaving Freddy out there for the 6th. He deserves scorn for it. But that 1 mistake did not lose the game any more than any of the other mistakes this team made did. This game was lost by about 8 different people. Ozzie doesn't deserve any more blame than anyone else on that roster.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) This is the type of game which can easily be the beginning of the end for a team. This was one of the worst losses I can remember for the White Sox. Let's just hope we're not looking back on October 3rd and saying "Man if only we had won 1 more game". This would be an ideal one to point to. Man, I almost don't want to read the posts here later. Thank God the game tomorrow is an early one.
  10. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Garcia gives up 7 runs and Hermy ain't got it. Ozzie stays to long with pitchers that just don't have the stuff for the game If Hermanson is the closer...you put Hermanson in and you give him the game to win or lose. I won't fault Ozzie on that one. It's a closer's job to be able to, you know, close games. Garcia should never have come out for the 6th. You're right on that one. But Hermanson had the 9th, good or ill.
  11. You know, we have had some of our fugliest games this season against the Royals. Tonight goes up there with them. Isn't this team supposed to be winning games with pitching and defense? WTF is going on?
  12. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Hermanson is not as effective as before earlier in the season. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. 4 consecutive hits. :headshake His back had to be bothering him. He just couldn't get the ball down at all.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) So sad I don't get CSN+ down at school. Wow.... Tonight...I think you should be pretty damn glad you don't get it.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Those 2 runs we gave the Royals in the 6th inning would sure be nice right now. As would the 2 runs we gave them on the wild pitch and the first Pods error. K.C. would respond that they want the 2 runs back that the umps gave us by not calling Widger out at 1st right before Crede's home run.
  15. Damnation damnation damnation damnation damnation damnation
  16. Base hit by Stairs, tying run comes up to the plate. Royals fans get free donuts for the 12th hit of the evening. In case you were wondering what the roar from the crowd was for.
  17. He Gawn! The guy who scares the sh*t out of me is out of the way. I feel so relieved.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) BTW, is Harden out for the year? I read like a week ago that he was pretty close to returning...I could be wrong.
  19. By the way, let me say this a full half inning in advance...Dustin Hermanson should be put on the mound during the 9th inning, and the ballgame should be his to win or lose.
  20. Come on Cliffy...don't let Sweeney get up this inning... Yay!!!! Sweeney will come up WITH NO ONE ON in the 9th. That is shockingly important.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) I'd glady take 0, 3, 1, 8, 1, 3, 7 like he has done of late. I don't think I'd like the looks of that line in the playoffs.
