  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Ozzie has got to start using Jenks for an inning only so we can use him more than one game and then burn him out for a few. And we have to start using Cotts for more than a batter or two. That in itself will take more pressure off the marte situation. Problem is, using Jenks for only an inning right now is easier said than done. When we hit one of those stretches, like an extra inning game, where we need someone who can get outs for more than 1 innings, Bobby is the best we've got...especially since BMac worked a few days ago. Also, I can't complain about giving Hermanson some additional rest given his back.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) We miss having another lefty reliever in the bullpen already. I don't think you can say that until you see what happens. Politte's been good against Lefties this year too. (As has Jenks, for that matter)
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Royals guy keeps calling Gooch - "Taguchi". He's been doing that the whoooooooooooole season.
  4. Mentionned a couple posts ago...Treaty of Tripoli
  5. I don't think anyone out there is surprised at all that the Republicans don't want to investigate this and the Democrats do...but I just figured I'd point out that the Republicans blocked several attempts today to start an investigation into the Downing Street Memo...a leaked British document seemingly showing that the Bush Administration was in fact committed to war in Iraq far before they admitted it publically to this country. All of the votes were party line. This text/post comes from Representative Joseph Crowley.
  6. Bajenaru and Hermanson are warming up in the Sox bullpen.
  7. Excellent 1.1 innings thus far Viz. I bet Ozzie lets him start the 8th, and I don't think I'll second guess him unless people start getting on and he leaves Viz in there. Now let's get another run or eight!
  8. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) I know we've stranded too many tonight...but we're still in position to win this game. People on this board are so negative lately. Let's remember that we're 8-4 in Sept....soon to be 9-4 and we're playing the Central for the rest of the way (does 41-14 mean anything to anyone on this board?) I don't care how good Cleveland's playing...we own them this year. OWN THEM. Go Sox. We're also 14-16 since August 12th. You see what happened there? You selectively included 1 hot streak by our team, I selectively included 1 cold streak. Just saying what our numbers are in September doesn't prove anything.
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) It's NOT in the US Cons. The US Cons taken as a whole would favor the free exercise clause over the establishment clause. G. Washington was a devout Episcopalian; Benjamin Rush, Roger Sherman, and Thomas McKean were evangelicals. And Thomas Jefferson wrote a version of the New Testament where all reference to Jesus's miracles was removed because he did not believe in that portion. Who cares what religion the founding fathers were? They designed a document built to avoid allowing 1 religion to dominate just because it was the most popular.
  10. If it makes anyone feel better...every single person in our lineup tonight has at least 1 hit.
  11. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) That shouldn't be said with anything having to relate to our offense. Uribe?
  12. The Royals are just now getting someone up in their bullpen, so Pods belongs to Nunez.
  13. All right Joe, I can live with a walk. C'Mon Scottie P...let's put this game away.
  14. "Nunez just balked and nobody noticed it" - Farmer
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) They are good fans there too. I bet a few hundred are White Sox fans also. last night at the end of the only 20 people left in the ballpark, about 2/3 of them were standing and cheering on Bobby at the end of the game.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) OK, then who here actually thinks Ozzie is a good in-game manager? He's not the best in the league, but he's also not nearly the worst in the league.
  17. 9922 in the crowd tonight in K.C. Makes me feel better about our crowds.
  18. That ends a streak of 5 in a row retired by Royals pitching.
  19. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) with damaso going, going gone ... will there be a David Sanders sighting? By the way, I couldnt' understand a word of it, but in a pre-game chat with one of the radio guys, Ozzie was still trying to sound positive about Marte, saying something about taking a day at a time or something to that effect.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) coming and facing 2 batters, both lefties, and getting only 1 out is not good in my book. Sorry. And that 1 out leading to a run, and nearly leaving the park...yeah I agree.
  21. Sweeney pops it up!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY VIZ!!! Doing a happy dance...
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Ozzie with the quick trigger. I just don't understand... I wasn't watching the pitches, but it sure didn't sound like Neal had "it" tonight...long fly ball for a sac fly, and then a base hit...about to face Sweeney...hell it can't hurt to play the percentages against this monster.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) I seriously hope that our big 3 pitching gets their heads out of their f***ing asses before we hit the end of this year. Imagine this s*** in a playoff series. If we score 9 runs in a game in a playoff series, I'll probably be in a good mood.
