  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) I agree. He is a #4 hitter, but then again we really don't have a #3 hitter. I thought Rowand could have hit 3rd, but he hasn't performed as well as he did last year yet. Iguchi is another possibility, but we don't have a #2 type hitter to replace him. I doubt Ozzie would change the lineup right now, but i think this one would be a bit better....Pods, Rowand, Iguchi, Frank, Pk, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe. Iguchi has been too damn good in the 2nd spot. Too damn good.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Vegas has the odds posted on AL MVP & not one WhiteSox is even mentioned....hmmmm....nice work in 1st JC! Can you pick a guy on our lineup who has earned an MVP? Literally, Konerko needs to hit like .420 in the 2nd half to get his name in that race. There are guys with over 80 RBI's already.
  3. Well, Jose, that's certainly not a bad way to start the game...3 straight strikeouts. Yeah, we'll take that.
  4. Several sources are saying it is going to be Federal appeals court Justice John G. Roberts Jr.
  5. You know, I didn't realize before today that Contreras has a lower ERA than Bonderman.
  6. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) He has not been used since Thursday and before that last Sunday his arm should be fine. That is not a good thing when he has a tired arm being used every five days, So I am all in favor of acquring a good bullpen arm. He had the tired arm back in June when he was used in about 4 straight games and 5 out of 6.
  7. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Jeff Blanzy just reported that Hermanson is available in the bullpen tonight. Hopefully we won't need him. Last time his arm was feeling tired, we went on a streak where we didn't need him for like a week.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Haha he b****ed at a camera man when he was getting out I bet you that the moment Bud Selig saw his reaction to that cameraman, he decided that Rogers's appeal would be flatly rejected.
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Contreras, RHP Good to see that AJ's catching Contreras again...both Cubans seem to work better with him than the Widge. And also good to see that Crede's still feeling well enough to play.
  10. I'd say Embree could get a look if something happens such that Marte or Cotts can no longer pitch. Aside from that, he is not going to fill any other role in our bullpen and certainly will not be an upgrade over the pieces we already have in there. He's a better option than Kevin Walker, but again, that ain't sayin' much.
  11. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Graffy has been struggling mightily in the past 3 weeks... I still dont think he is an everyday player and he may be rusty in the field, He has been playing 1st base an aweful lot He's still better than putting Alex Cora in there at 2b.
  12. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) He has shown flashes in the past, but he's just downright scary now. It appears as though the Cubs have f***ed up big time. For some reason he just was never going to work out in the Cubs organization. He just never clicked there. Kinda like Kip Wells with us, or Bobby Jenks with Anaheim. That ol "Change of scenery" cure.
  13. QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) I'm going for Karl Rove. No...see...the goal tonight is to get the attention OFF of Karl Rove, not on.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) ehem the sox avg 4.82 runs per game. It couldnt be THAT rare could it??? Actually they are...until we hit Colorado, this team had 0 of them on the season.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Well, 2 or 3 days ago, Al Leiter would have accepted the position. Seriously, just a decent veteran pitcher ... Redman, for example .... or Moyer. just someone serviceable that could step in and give you a good 5 innings if you needed it. Sure, a stud pitcher would be great, but I'm trying to be a bit more down to earth here. Redman is rumored to be heading to Florida in the 3-way Burnett to the Orioles deal.
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) My dad was saying that this year there were also a lot of cuts to farm subsidies this year, which will make it that much worse for the farmers. Does anyone know if that's true? Barely 2 years ago the U.S. passed an absolutley, ridiculously massive farm subsidy bill costing taxpayers upwards of $80 billion. I can't believe that at all.
  17. So why exactly do you only want to be 2-2, and not, say, 2-1, 3-1, 17-1, etc.? Go get em Jose. Listen to your catchers. Throw strikes. Go after them. Do what you did the last time out, and you'll be amazed how everything will fall into place. Let's make it 6 in a row.
  18. HR is quite right...the picture does change in the postseason. We know that. That's why it's up to our guys to prove that they belong. There's no reason the Sox can't match up with anyone given our pitching staff, but until we've done it, we're still unproven.
  19. I'm surprised that he didn't note that being 5th in the league in runs scored isn't exactly a bad thing.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) That is assuming he would hit for the same averages playing everyday instead of being matched up in favorable conditions coming off of the bench. His numbers when he was playing almost everyday in Sept. 04 were by far the best numbers he put up. He was adequate in the months before that coming off the bench, never having his average drop below .250 in any month. He hit .299 against Righties, and a whopping .425 against lefties, from the left side of the plate in 04. Is that considered favorable conditions?
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) The Curt Schilling of the Arizona Diamond backs sure. Last years and this years. Forget it. Buerhle over him in a heartbeat. Just so you know...Buehrle passed Schilling's longest career "consecutive 6 inning start" streak about a month ago.
  22. Does anyone know how many innings Jenks is able to go? I know he was a closer in AA, but he was also a starter until this year. In a pinch, is he able to throw 2-3 innings?
  23. In terms of greenpeace/ELF, etc. Yes, ELF is a terrorist group. They have hurt and killed people, and many of their members should likely face at least charges of conspiracy. But just because there are terrorists who are environmentalists one should not conclude that all environmentalists, or all leftists for that matter, support those terrorists.
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) The White Sox aren't even a team that's seriously being mentioned as being in the hunt for Wagner.............now the RED Sox on the other hand are said to be close in getting Wagner and get this, Thome too. The Yankees were supposedly a lock to get Garcia last year. Just out of curiosity...can anyone think of a team anywhere in history that has come out and thrown out a righty who can throw 99+ in the 8th inning and followed him up by a lefty that can throw 99+ in the 9th inning?
