  1. You're still making one huge gamble in saying Ken Griffey Jr. will remain healthy for an entire season and able to continue playing CF at a high level. A massive one.
  2. The key to both of those is not where you put ARow, it's that you're dropping PK.
  3. This is how the article will start for anyone who reads a piece on this from the AP in your morning paper tomorrow... Here's some words from Harry Reid...
  4. Personally I thought Tad looked fine at the plate against Oakland...as good as anybody we threw up there. Does anyone know where to look for a number of "Productive Outs"? I don't know where to find a listing for that, and a few days ago Hawk/DJ informed us that Tad was leading the league in that category.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) well then lets just bat him 2nd all the time then dammit. Take a quick guess which game he got those 2 at bats in. Hint, he's 2 for 2 in the 2 hole, with 1 home run and 3 RBI.
  6. I can't tell if anyone gave his lineup order splits, so here they are: Batting BA OBP SLUG HR 2nd 1.000 1.000 2.500 1 3rd .272 .321 .379 1 5th .300 .374 .413 2 6th .256 .302 .344 1 7th .258 .333 .333 8th .500 .500 .500
  7. So at least according to ESPN.com, it's Contreras against Millwood... Garland against Sabbathia Anyone know the other 2 slots? Will we see El Duque? (Has he received a scheduled date to pitch in AAA yet like they said they would with him?)
  8. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) wow... He deserved it, considering that when he was just asked to repeat answers that he had given a year or a year and a half ago, he responded with basically a no comment.
  9. As a straight DH, Carl's numbers look like this: .249 9 Hr 35 RBI's
  10. Damn...3-6 in the AL lineup...wow. That AL team is just plain scary. The NL isn't bad with Lee and Pujols anchoring it, but the heart of the AL lineup is entirely composed of guys you never want to face.
  11. Jon walking off the field after dealing with Tejada. Mark Buehrle's 1:53 game. That 2nd game of the year when Konerko and Dye destroyed Wickman.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) But your right, it's Pods fault people never drive him in. Damn you Pods.. Personally, I prefer to blame Willie Harris, after Friday's game. Pods should have at least 2-3 more runs and should be ahead of Konerko by now.
  13. $2.63 or so here, but then again, look at where I'm typing at. See, this is why my only transportation is a bicycle. If you're crying paying $2.25, be worried, because it's a lot more likely to go up in the next 10 years than it is to go down. And up by a lot too.
  14. How has Santana stayed on that list when he hasn't won a game in June? Has every hit he gives up left the park or something like that? Buehrle will move back up the list now that he's done with the A's. Probably Garland too.
  15. Here's a Carl question... I believe that the team has an option on him for next year. First, is this true, or does Carl have an option also where he can get out of the contract? Second, what is the value on Carl's option next year? Is it such that the team wouldn't pick it up, like it seems to be with Thomas? Will it cost the team anything to decline the option?
  16. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) for those of you who say you don't want paulie in it why? hes not going to hurt himself swinging for the fences. hes not derrek lee Actually...there's quite a few people around who would say that the last time Paulie was in the HR derby it really screwed with his swing and helped send him into that horrific slump a few years ago.
  17. Another thing...I think he's really been on a roll lately in that it seems like no one is throwing him out. He had a stretch back there a few weeks ago where his throw-outs went up, but lately no one's been picking him off.
  18. Even if the war in Iraq were really an effort to get the Saudis to open their oil fields more or to give the U.S. more control or something like that, the fact is that there's really nothing more that the Saudis can do with their fields. Either that nation has peaked or it is very close to doing so. I don't have a good link on this, but a few months ago I read that earlier this year, in response to those soaring oil prices, the Saudis pledged to start pumping even more to release more oil onto the market. When the oil came out...it was NOT traditional cheap to refine Saudi Light Sweet Crude. It was heavy oil. Lots of Sulfur, etc. Not easy stuff to work with, expensive to refine, etc. If you really pay attention, the Saudi oil fields are something that should really concern you right now. Why? Several reasons. No one over here really knows what is left in the Saudi tank. They have been pumping on the same oil fields for decades. The water content in those oil fields is rising dramatically. They haven't had a major discovery of a new field in decades. They have invested likely trillions of dollars in these sciences to try to extract every drop humanly possible from those fields. And if they can't extract more of it, if they even are closing in on their production peak, then there's really nothing that is going to come on line to reverse that trend. Right now, there is simply nothing out there which can replace Saudi production. It just isn't there.
  19. I wish they'd tell us a definition of "Squeaked by". 4 million out of 15 million is not a small chunk, especially since the guy in the NL won with like 2 million.
  20. This guy is a complete wack job. Take a look at the stuff he said before/after the London bombings. Before: After: Yes, he's actually saying that a terrorist was sitting around, saw that Britain won the olympics, and in less than 24 hours was able to mobilize a large plot involving 4 precisely timed strikes in transportation systems making use of high explosives.
  21. Let's say that for some reason he didn't break the letter of the law, i.e. the law is terribly worded, and he can get away with the "I only said Wilson's wife, I didn't say Valerie Plame" defense. First, if Bush is such a straight shooter, why exactly would he let a guy who clearly violated his trust and just barely maneuvered himself out of jail stay in the white house? Second, why in God's name would you let this guy keep his security clearance? (Remember, he still has access to a huge amount of government information, and he's already shown a willingness to abuse that priveledge)
  22. One of the biggest stories of the AS Game will now be how bad of a reaction Rogers gets.
  23. Some of us can't read Kruk columns...damn insider. Anywho...I'd love for the Twinkies to get him. He's hardly an upgrade over anything on their roster right now. .231 BA, .299 OBP? Hell, he only has hit 7 home runs this year. That's more than the 3 guys they have at 2nd base on their roster, but it's hardly anything to shout about.
  24. He may very well have written this before the Wunsch injury.
