  1. Man, 2 years ago he had 35 home runs and 117 RBI's. Today he's released. That is an amazingly rapid collapse.
  2. Man, anyone else on our team beats that throw. Anyone. Even Thomas.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Against a pitcher like Zito where you can steal at will against them, Pods needs to be in the order. I agree with the person who doesn't like seeing him in the platoon role like he is right now. With Zito on the mound, I think it's a good plan to have Dye, Rowand, and Everett all hitting...Zito the lefty, all 3 of those guys bat right handed, Dye and Everett have been hot lately, Everett has been nothing short of great batting RH. There's no reason not to make sure guys have an enormous amount of rest before we hit the stretch run. One of the reasons most of our guys are healthy now is that they've gotten enough rest.
  4. Look at the diving stop by Joe Crede to start the game! 1 pitch, 1 out, 1 dirty jersey on our 3rd baseman.
  5. LOL Nice, the Oakland TV station just ran a commercial for yesterday's ballgame.
  6. Lineups posted for the game today: Chicago: Ozuna SS Iguchi 2B Thomas DH Konerko 1B Everett LF Dye RF Rowand CF Widger C Crede 3B Oakland: Kendall C Kotsay CF Crosby SS Chavez 3B Kielty RF Byrnes LF Swisher 1B Ginter DH Ellis 2B
  7. Every other pitcher on our staff, to start the game thread, it seems I end up sitting here saying "Just throw strikes, go after them". And then there's Mark. Where I just want to sit back and watch the show. God I love watching this guy pitch. Go get em Mark. I like the idea of having 2 guys going for 20 wins in August. Money says Widger's catching today.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) I'd guess barely over league minimum (300K), but I'm not 100% positive on that. Alright Cliff, Neal, and Dustin -- we need you guys to get us six outs, without giving up a run. Get it done. $400k.
  9. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) I've never questioned his fielding. I love it, his power numbers are just fine too. I just wish that average would be better, but it's getting up there. Hey, if you could somehow remove the month of May, he'd be hitting nearly .300.
  10. Man, A.J. has had 3 well hit balls tonight, and they've all ended up being outs. You know how you'll sometimes see a guy who's struggling right when they start pulling out of it, they'll start getting good swings on the ball and just nailing it but it'll go straight at people? I think A.J.'s right there now...he is tearing this guy up and has nothing to show for it. I think that's a good sign...couple more games and he might just snap and start spraying the ball into the gaps.
  11. Mr. Chavez, that is how a gold-glove 3rd baseman picks up a hard hit grounder. Watch and learn.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) I don't understand why we bat Harris 2nd, just cause he's taking the place of Iguchi. It's ridiculous to have two slap hitters batting 1st and 2nd in the order. Pods and Harris aren't the second coming of Pierre and Castillo. If one of them gets on base it actually works pretty well, great speed and bunting in the 2nd slot. If either of them gets on base it'll be a huge headache for the pitcher. Just wish they'd try taking a few more pitches or work on fouling off a few that they don't like.
  13. Our 1-2-3 hitters look absolutely terrible up there tonight.
  14. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) I don't get to watch the Sox a lot, but has Pods been taking fewer pitches over the past few months? Yes, quite a bit.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Garland throwing his changeup is so pretty. That pitch has become so good for him... Man did he ever Chew up and spit out Eric Chavez on that 2-1 pitch, he was so far out in front of that pitch it could have been thrown by Shingo.
  16. Nice pitches by Jon, great work getting to that ball by Pods, make sure that Jon doesn't have to throw Chavez another pitch. Good job getting a jump on that one Scotty.
  17. Weak popout by Uribe, but a good inning overall. Scoring runs without the longball, productive outs, timely hitting and running. I love seeing those kinds of innings.
  18. JOE! JOE! JOE! It's now 2 to JOE! 2 out RBI, ground ball up the Middle.
  19. Man, Oakland got lucky there...terrible control on the field there, Sarloos had no reason to be over there like that...it's the pitcher's job to call people off.
  20. Aaron Rowand, taking it the other way! ARow RULES! Good work all around. Smart Baseball there.
  21. That ball was crushed...Paulie would have been out on a good throw there though. A.J., I have 2 words for you here: Productive out. If you make an out, Paulie has to end up at 3rd. No matter what. And he does. Hard hit ball up the middle, gets Paulie to 3rd. Nice play by the 2nd baseman saves them a run. Now we need a flyball or a single from ARow.
  22. 1-2-3, ground ball, couple of moderate line drives. Not a bad way to start the game. The more ground balls for Jon, the happier I get.
