  1. Let me ask this... Jon Garland has a chance at 15 wins before the AS break. If he's sitting on 13 or 14 wins, and that's 2 or 3 ahead of everyone else in baseball...what else can you look at? He'd be on a pace to win like 27 or 28 games.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Ah, one day this offseason, we gots to go back and look at the few of us who were in Garland's corner for the longhaul. Beautiful seeing him pitch so well. I wasn't here until April...but in drunken stupors in Feb & March I was talkin up big Jon...talkin about that game he pitched against the Twins last year in May/June, where he shut them down the whole game...I was waiting for him to turn it up, and he didn't let me down.
  3. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Garland has beaten KC for his 12th victory each of the last four years. That's a real odd stat. I think that one deserveds to go to Jayson Stark for his useless info page.
  4. "We're not gonna beat ourselves, they gotta beat us" -Ozzie. That's a great line.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Just to play devil's advocate. He's gonna watch Garland's pitch count to the point of pulling him with 100 pitches in a game where he's rolling, but he'll leave El Duque in with 110 pitches when he's getting into a jam? If El Duque had an extra day rest from an off day or somehting like that, and your bullpen needed any rest, yeah.
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Garland should have completed the game. No excuses really. Other than that is was a great game all around. Oh give Ozzie a break...Garland's going on Sunday against the Cubs, he had 101 pitches, Marte needed some work, the shutout was gone...it was the right move.
  7. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) realistically, We have to hope halladay has a couple bad starts before then Garland's got a shot at 13, 14, or maybe even 15 wins by the AS game. You gonna start someone other than the 14 game winner?
  8. Hey Jon...how you feel about starting the game in Detroit on July 12?
  9. And Jon Garland has tied his career high in wins on June 21st.
  10. First pitch strike for Marte. Against a guy making his MLB debut.
  11. There goes the shutout...tiime to bring in Marte.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I'm guessing that's exactly what OZ will do. Maybe even allow a second baserunner. With 100 pitches...no reason to push it on Jon. Marte needs the work anyway.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) I'd keep Garland in to close it out. 100 pitches for Garland. I send him out there & give him the chance for a 3 hit shutout...anyone gets on I bring in Marte.
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Frank will probably be watching the finale. Tough call for Ozzie. You don't want guys to think one bad outing and they will be grabbing some bench, but with Carl needing ABs . . . I want Frank to get the rest. He's been out for a year...no reason to play him 3 games in a row. None at all. I know Carl needs AB's, but I'm more worried about keeping Frank healthy, and that's an even better reason to sit him 1 time per series.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) I luvvvvvvvvvvv breaks. When you put pressure on a defense, by taking walks, moving people over, or even hitting ground balls...you'll get a lot of breaks. Just like we have this year.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) f***ING PABLO!!! You added the swear word & I thought something bad had happened.
  17. Damn, guess there is. Inning over, 2 runs score. Gooch strikes out.
  18. Come on Pods, they used up the Pitch out, time for #37. No way he gets 3 hits and 0 SB.
  19. He's paying too much attention to the runners...c'mon Pablo
  20. Good work Joe. Going to right field...1st and 3rd em.
  21. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) AJ is master of the blooper. How many times have you seen a couple of bloopers suddenly get a guy's confidence back and get him out of a slump? Let's hope A.J.'s figuring some things out.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) He went 3 picks before Tyler Lumsden, so he's only been in the minor league system for about a year. Moved up very, very quick. A heck of a lot of the Royals team was in A ball last year. They basically are running their minor leagues for a big league team in most of the spots.
