QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) That stolen base really got them the run, if not for the steal, they wouldn't have scored. You know...I used to be a fan of a baseball team that kept making me say exactly that same thing. It seems like so long ago. What was the name of that team again? -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) It has to be done, at least until Frank is back. I don't mind the lineup shuffling...as long as for the most part, the best lineup is put out there every night. If Rowand is driving in more runs than Everett, he should hit 3rd. If Everett pulls out of his slump, he can take that spot back. If Dye ever arises from the dead and realizes he's a career .270 hitter, not a .220 hitter, then he can have the 5th spot. If not...then he should drop. -
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) Kenny signed Podsednik to fill the Reed void and Pierzynski to fill the Olivo void. ...not a whole lot to complain about. Um...yeah...so Kenny traded for Podsednik. If anyone was "signed" to fill the Reed void, it was Dye. And anywho...with both Anderson and Sweeney on their way up...and ARow here for quite a long time before he hits the FA market, trading an outfielder for pitching seems like a smart decision for me. I'll hand this one to KW - I was wrong and he was right. Especially since he signed A.J.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) per rotoworld b****es Indians activated outfielder Juan Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list. He's expected to be in tonight's starting lineup. When Gonzalez plays, the Indians will only have room for two from the group of Casey Blake, Grady Sizemore and Jody Gerut in their outfield. Gerut may lose the most playing time even though he's been the team's best hitter lately. It'd be for the best if Blake started getting time at third base. May. 31 - 1: It just blows my mind that teams keep deciding it's "worth the risk" to give Gonzalez a contract. It blows my mind even more that during all the preseason pick shows on ESPN, people were citing Gonzalez as a reason why the Indians might improve.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ May 31, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) says Frank might not be ready to start until Friday but will be able to pinch hit today, tomarrow, and thursday. tuned into 670 THE SCORE. I wouldn't be surprised to see him used as a PH off the bench...especially if it helps him keep his swing in the game. -
QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) I will go a step further, Crede and Uribe are here primarily because they play very good defense. Makes sense when you build the team around pitching. Since Konerko and Everett are proven hitters, the offensive expectations are greater for them than Crede and Uribe, and they should be. Crede hits down low in the order and for the most part Uribe does too. They don't expect the same level of offense from Crede/Uribe as Konerko and Everett. They are going to give this more time, and make a move accordingly. But I don't think it'll happen for several weeks. And when it does, I see 2nd tier prospects being traded. In almost every category I can check, Uribe is at best mediocre when it comes to defense. His fielding percentage is .966, towards the lower 3rd of MLB SS's right now. His range factor is 4.46, putting him in the lower half of MLB. He's committed 7 errors already this season. For comparison...Vizquel has 3, Clayton has 4, etc. That's in the lower 3rd of MLB. Uribe is not yet an excellent defensive shortstop. With time at the position, he may become one, but he's not yet one.

This article brings only 1 thing to my mind. "If the White Sox don't win the world series...THEN THE TERRORISTS WIN!"

QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) I hope Garcia can duplicate his road dominance at home. Go Sox! Garcia's had a lot of problems pitching at the Cell this year...his ERA at home last time I checked was something like 5. Tonight's as good a night as any to turn that around...coming off a pair of very good starts. -
QUOTE(I-HATE-CREDE @ May 30, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) The only good Cub fan is a dead Cub fan. Just remember...these threads are only fun until someone loses an eye.

QUOTE(Be Good @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Hopefully those 4 East teams beat up on eachother, so the Wild Card does indeed come out of the central. For that to happen...we're going to have to find a few teams outside our division to actually beat up on. We can't go losing series to teams like Oakland and Tampa Bay while teams like Minnesota, Boston, Baltimore, and NY fatten up on those 2.
-
QUOTE(Be Good @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Iguchi can make all the errors, he wants. We need his bat in the lineup. I sure hope he doesn't want to make any more.

Am I the only one here that thinks Shingo still has it in him to turn around this season and start shutting people down? From what I've seen of him...his problem is nothing that can't be corrected...it's not like he's lost speed or anything off of a pitch - he can't get his pitches over and down, so he ends up having no option but his fastball, and people can just sit on it. If he can figure out how to get his change/curve over for a strike, then it could all snap back into place for him. Right now I think he needs time.

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) We're gonna have to cause I just looked at a stretch we have in the dog days of August starting on the 8th.. @NY @NY @NY, @BOS @BOS @BOS, MIN, MIN, MIN, NY, NY, NY, @MIN @MIN @MIN Uhh, we're gonna need some cushion before we start that stretch.. :headshake Remember that stretch in 2000 where we hit @ Cle, @ NY, Cle, NY, and lost 2 games? At some point these bats are going to suddenly discover that they can hit the ball. I think that stretch would be a good time.

QUOTE(3E8 @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Why was Iguchi pinch hit for? I'm fairly certain Ozzie will swear at whichever reporter asks that question.
-
QUOTE(Tannerfan @ May 30, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Will Ozzie learn from his mistakes or after a win like this will he think he's a genius? If he doesn't learn...Maybe Buehrle will "accidently" have a ball slip out of his hands and land in the dugout next time he's pitching. With any luck...Ozzie and Iguchi will feel bad enough about this game and the fact that Mark didn't get the win he deserves that it will teach them both a few little lessons. By the way...F this white sox winner is the perfect sentiment.

QUOTE(rafacosta @ May 30, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Mote TImo in the next few games...cost of opportunity... How exactly is it possible for us to see more of Timo than we've been seeing? It seems to me like he's been PH ing in every game this week.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 30, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) LOL We are so damn lucky. This team is special, no doubt about it. We need to bottle up some of this luck and save it for September. Maybe...just maybe...a 9th inning comeback at home will be enough to wake these guys up. We should have won this game by 5. We deserved to lose this game by 5. At least that losing streak is over.
-
How the Hell did that just happen? "I don't believe what I just saw!"
-
MY GOD. We so very much did not deserve to win that game. We deserved to lose this game like 8-1.
