Rowand: "God knows I want to play with Joe again."

If Rowand REALLY wanted to play in Chicago he would of taken the 4 year contract... He's full of it -

If BA plays this well during the season, he can be the type of emerging player to turn a whole team around... Every year guys come out of nowhere, so why can't it be Brian this year? -

GAME THREAD - 3/11/08, SOX @ TEX

People forget that Anderson STILL has a lot of talent. If he emerges as a long term solution in center field, it would be a major blessing in disguise that we missed out on Tori and Aaron... -
Deng would of had to go LAST YEAR. Thats the whole point, and why its so puzzling. This year Memphis wanted a package of Thomas/Noah, Duhon, Nocioni.... Paxson refused to do it b/c it would of put us in luxury tax situation with Brian Cardinal in the deal. Pax/Reinsdorf refused to go into the luxury tax arena...
-
I agree about Simmons. I actually went to school with Cedric, so I saw him play all the time. He is still very much a project, but could be a force a few years down the road. Why were the Bulls willing to take on salary for these guys but not Gasol? I dont see Paxsons plan, at all. I think he has A LOT of explaining to do.
-
What are the contracts for Hughes and Gooden?
-
I think Pax should be canned. He really messed up the past year, and he is the one that needs to take responsibility.... Failing to trade for Pau was a MAJOR mistake. I dont buy into the logic that it wasn't his fault. Pax failed to make it happen.
-
Regardless, this Bulls team has no vision, no plan, no super-star, no chance at a top 5 pick, no chance of going far in the playoffs, no nothing!!
-
Wallace and Joe Smith for Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Larry Hughes Thoughts?
-
I dont see KW trading Crede for a guy like Fred Lewis... How does he help us? I imagine we would be looking for pitching and not another guy that needs to be added to the 40 man roster?

"Ok, yeah. Ignore everything I say because I'm only 20. It's clear that I know nothing, I should basically just stop talking at all. I mean, how could I offer any insight on any matter, when there are obviously people who're older and know more than me? My mistake." More or less, yes. Now go to bed, you have school in the morning

QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 10, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) I didn't realize cursing, listening to music with curses, or looking at Penthouse/Playboy was immoral. For me, it has nothing to do with moral behaviors or immoral behaviors. Everyone has their different opinions on what is moral and what isn't, so your statement above just doesn't make much sense to me. If these grown men in the locker room want to curse or listen to music that's got a parental advisory sticker on it, good for them. Hell, as long as it doesn't affect their performance on the field, they could sacrifice a chicken and pray to whatever god they choose to believe in. However, if people are starting to take offense to their behaviors, and credit their taking offense to some higher sense of morals, that's where I have issues. It's fine to have your own beliefs, but you shouldn't go around forcing those beliefs on others, which is essentially what a lot of the posts in this thread seem to be hinting at. Now, I'm not saying that Josh Fields did this, he didn't. The original post was just an article that took a lot for granted and didn't check its sources too well. Ok, I partially understand where you are coming from now. I saw on your profile you are only 20 years old. That is a pretty big topic to cover for someone who doesn't even have a college degree let alone many life experiences or time in a full time work environment...

Now, I'm not saying that Josh Fields did this, he didn't. The original post was just an article that took a lot for granted and didn't check its sources too well. And where in ANY article does Fields say he is going to force his beliefs upon others? Most of you all have the same hole in your arguments. You fail to realize that any type of behavior is a result of a certain set of beliefs, now whether that manifests itself in the form of a practicing faith is another. How come you aren't so quick to worry whether the "immoral" players might be forcing their belief on the "moral" players? It seems to ONLY be the other way around with you guys. Someone says Christianity and immediately people are afraid of them forcing beliefs on others. WAKE UP! How stereotypical and biased can you be? Do you guys really think Josh Fields is single handedly going to throw the White Sox clubhouse in disarray b/c he is a Christian? That is pure foolishness. I think the real issue is with Christianity. Most people hear it and immediately become unwilling to have it be any place in our society. Again wake up and realize that everyone holds to some sort of belief. And to say that beliefs shouldn't be shared with others is A BELIEF IN AND OF ITSELF!!!! BY SAYING THAT YOU ARE DOING THE VERY THING YOU SAY SHOULDNT HAPPEN

QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) Thanks. Any general background information or would you rather not bias people for/against reading it? I personally do not care what Josh's beliefs are or what religion he practices. I do get concerned about chemistry in the clubhouse, however. I worry when Josh talk about the good he can do or example he can set, or however he phrased it. I just hope he practices his morals and religion in private and performs on the field as necessary to help the team compete. The last thing I want to see is a divided team because someone starts running a bible study group in the massage room. What a stupid statement. Exactly how should he "practice his morals in private"? So he's not allowed to practice good moral behavior just because everyone else acts a different way? In a way you are saying, "Josh should act like everyone else, and he can be a Christian in private" How biased can YOU get? EVERYONE has beliefs and practices. Whether they manifest themselves in the form of a practiced faith is a separate question. If a player acts in a way that is in every way against Christianity, that is a belief system and behavioral pattern, even if its not an explicity religion. So why should Fields, just because he's a Christian, be forced to act just like the rest of the team? Again, it baffles me that people have such a high tolerance for jerks, but when a GOOD guy comes along, he gets ripped to shreads. Your last statement exhibits even more stupidity. How do you assume him being a Christian will act in division among the team? Even if it did, how would the blame be put on Josh? If that is the case, then it isn't his fault. All of your statements smell of someone who is intolerant of people practicing their own faith in a FREE country. Moreover, what is the big deal even if HE DID RUN A BIBLE STUDY? How is that any different than Buerhle starting a strip club night? Just b/c one is morally upright, it shouldnt be tolerated? Your lack of tolerance and deliberate stereotyping are prime examples of whats wrong in this world. Again, you pretty much think that people are allowed to practice behavior ONLY if it is within the consensus of everyone else.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) I'm not intolerant at all, and I'm not upset that he chooses not to curse or listen to "angry" music in the locker room (if this is the case, which isn't known at all). I just don't think locker rooms and clubhouses should be this holy place where people can't curse, listen to the music of their choice, or read the magazines/books of their choice. And where did Fields say the locker room should be a holy place? Or that people can't curse? He said he wasn't thrilled with what went on in there. None of us know exactly what was going on, so it seems a little premature and stereotypical to decide what Fields wasnt liking.
-
I hate to even bring this up but this is turning into a religious slam. Why are so many people on this board intolerant, and upset that Fields' faith in Christianity has resulted in morality/behavior that is different than other players? It sickens me that so many cheap jokes are being made at a Sox player who is, I will say it again, probably one of the better men on the team.
-
Most of you guys sound ridiculous!! Here this guy is, probably one of the better guys on the team, speaking to youth and being open and honest about the lifestyle of pro-baseball. (b/c i'm sure all of you guys know what goes on, right?) An article comes out that massively misinterprets what he said, and his own fans get on him? This sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Not only that, he NEVER said he will shy away from the clubhouse!! Given all of the thugs/jerks Sox fans have stuck up for in the past, it is incredible to see them rip on one of the good guys... Absolutely pathetic

Is it just me, or have teams gotten more in return for worse pitchers? Who got more the A's for Haren or the Twins for Santana?

Is the thinking here that Crede would net us a B/C level prospect?
