I remember that Kenny has always been pretty fond of Mark Mulder. Even though we have 5 sp's, it seems like a low risk opportunity to get a guy who could regain his All-Star form. Any chance we sign him to a highly incentivized deal?

QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) What does everyone think of the Sox sending Vazquez or Garcia to Houston for Hirsch and Willy Tavares?? Is this fair for both sides? It seems reasonable to me... Hirsh would give us a solid young pitcher, and Tavares speed and potential in CF and the top of the lineup...

Bears offer sheet signee Manning arrested

Is he good enough to give up a 3rd round pick????? -
Kind of off-topic, but has Chris Young made it back from his hand injury to start playing in the D-Back farm system yet?
-
I guess my underlying point is that Pods has not been healthy for almost a year, and when hes not healthy, he is not half the player he can be. That being said, it is not inconceivable to see him get injured again this year. If that does happen, Owens would be a logical call up.
-
This might be a negative prediction, but I think Pods will keep getting injured this year, and eventually be replaced by Jerry Owens. At first he will platoon with Rob M, but he will eventually flourish into a great leadoff man down the stretch, and into the playoffs. Can anyone else see this happening too?

Chavez over Blaylock seems to be the type of player that Williams would target.
-
Eric Chavez I have no source to confirm that Williams is targeting Chavez, but many of you will remember back in June/July that KW was targeting him. A package of Garland and Crede for Chavez would be acceptable to me, but my guess is that Beane would want McCarth/Crede for Chavez, given his propensity for young and cheap starters. Now the question is, would Chavez bring added value to our club? I dont know, but it has always been apparent that KW has loved him.

A couple of questions... 1. Didn't Trump sell vacuums before he was famous? 2. With all that knowledge of Kirby's, were you actually a pretty good salesman?

After a GM puts together a World Series Championship team, he deserves a break for making a big trade. He was doubted last year, and succeeded. He deserves the benefit of the doubt. He led us to a Championship, and I trust his decisions.. Who else is with me!!!

White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews
NCsoxfan replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everyone is so quick to forget, with Everett and Big Frank not likely back, we have a gaping hole at DH, with no LH Power. Now with Thome, that is no longer a problem. Trading from your strengths is always a smart thing to do. Let me ask everyone a question. During last offseason, does ANYONE think that Philly would of traded Thome for Rowand? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Buy low, and sell high. KW executed this trade exactly in that model. -
I couldnt get world series tickets, but hey, I got a question answered on an ESPN chat session. Wooohoooo... David (Chicago): Now that the White Sox are in the world series, do you feel their minor league system will support future success? Who are the most ready prospects? John Manuel: (2:55 PM ET ) The Sox' system is poised to provide more trade fodder for Kenny Williams. I am a big Chris Young fan, toolsy outfielder with power and speed who had a big year in Double-A as a 21-year-old. They also like Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney in the OF, which should come in handy, Jermaine Dye and Scott Podsednik probably won't be their corner OFs in 2-3 years. Josh Fields is moving quickly at 3B to replace playoff hero Joe Crede. On the mound, the White Sox have good depth among their LHPs, starting with Gio Gonzalez, Dan Haigwood and Ray Liotta.

I agree guys. What a pathetic piece of s***....... You cannot blame the agent for everything, Benson could step up at any moment and end this holdout.

QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) I would honestly now lowball Benson, and just let him go back into the draft. He obviously doesn't care anything about the Bears. Hes just a greedy piece of crap. Screw em. He would not get drafted number four next year. MAYBE top ten, but he would lose a ton of money. I am tired of these NFL holdouts, it is sick. Thats my two cents! Wait , Im not done..... Benson is such a little b****

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Or Benson is a greedy f*** who wants too much money. Honestly, I don't think it's Eugene Parker using Benson as a puppet like Rosenhaus does. I think that Benson just wants sooo much money. He isn't going to get what Phillip Rivers got so he needs to stop hoping for that. I would honestly now lowball Benson, and just let him go back into the draft. He obviously doesn't care anything about the Bears. Hes just a greedy piece of crap. Screw em. I think the Blackhawks should bring back Amonte. He could come cheap and be a nice vet among all the young players. What do you all think?
-
This is interesting to talk about...... Boston seems like they would be one of the weakest teams.
-
The White Sox pitching staff would be Buehrle, Kip Wells, Jeff Weaver, McCarthy, Josh Fogg..... Lineup of Aaron Miles, Big Hurt, C Lee, Maggs, Crede etc... Outside of us, Im thinking Oakland would be sitting pretty as well.
-
I had an interesting thought... Which team would be the best right NOW if they had only players that they drafted. If a player has been drafted by more than one team, lets assume he would play for the team that first drafted him. Can anyone compile a list of the best teams according to this method??
-
As far as the Bulls, Craig Hodges was an awesome guy. I met the whole Bulls team in 1991, the summer before they won it all at a Lou Malnatis dinner.
-
Wondering which players you guys have met..... This does not mean that they gave you their autograph and thats it. Have anyone run into the players outside the ballpark or events? Summer 2001 in Cleveland, I ran into Jon Garland and Kip Wells. Kip was decked out in cowboy attire. Jon seemed shocked to see that I recognized him. Maybe thats because it was 4 years ago, and he was pretty unknown. Garland was nice, but not the most friendly or talkative player that Ive met? Anyone have any good or bad stories?

Game Thread 5-9-2005 Sox .vs. Rays
NCsoxfan replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Just got back from dinner and was half expecting the Sox to finally be losing!! It is AMAZING how the Sox continue to be in close games. It is obviously the pitching, but for me as a Sox fan, I am not used to this kind of amazing baseball!! Go Sox!! -
With our pitching staff currently 17-3 I believe, I was wondering what the ML record is for most W's by a starting staff. Aside from that, which team in the last 10-15 years has compiled the most wins in a year? I would have to guess Atlanta of the early 90's? Is it possible for our starters to win 75 games?
