QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Players with cheap contracts don't pass through waivers. Players with cheap contracts don't pass through waivers. Players with cheap contracts don't pass through waivers. Players with cheap contracts don't pass through waivers. What are you trying to say?

If Griffey does get to us in waivers, anyone think that Kenny puts a claim in? If he is that serious about getting him, and they think that Frank is done, why not? He can still try to get a trade done and if that doesn't happen then we keep the prospects and eat the money, that is if Cincy lets him go.

Here is an interesting take from the other side of this "deal"... http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread....62&page=1&pp=20

Steff - I get a lot of grief for being a Neil Diamond fan, especially from my friends. I've seen him in concert 5 times, never been disappointed. You will have a good time, no doubt. Let me know how the show is, I can't make it this time around.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) I havent been around the past few days why is pods out of the lineup for a second day? I heard yesterday that he was complaining of tired/heavy legs. I don't think it is an actual injury, just a breather.

I heard that he arrived late last night. Will probably play tomorrow.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) No. His nickname is Punk-Ass Little b****. I stand corrected. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Wow, you guys are making it sound like he wears a Knight's oufit. He's not the only one to wear an elbow pad. Yet, he hits more HR's than anyone else. That's because he is better than anyone else, IMO.
-
Thanks for the clarification, Milkman.
-
Bottom line is Bonds hits HR's because he is f***ing GOOD, not because of the armor. But I do think that the armor gives hitters an unfair advantage over the pitchers.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) 1)I don't see Bonds getting traded. 2)Elbow pads don't help driving balls out of the ballpark. I agree, but the pad does take the fear away which is a large part of gaining the advantage over a pitcher.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) I keep saying that getting Vizquel is an impact trade because it would allow the whitesox to move Gooch down in the order so he can swing away. Vizquel can provide another pesky bat at 2 with speed and good contact. Then Gooch I feel will creep back to 300 and can show his power more. I think he would be a doubles machine lower in the order. But without Vizquel, gooch is the only guy that has the patience to allow Pods to run. As well as Iguchi has done in the 2 spot, I completly agree with you. This lineup would be much better if we could use Tad's bat as a weapon lower in the order. Unfortunatly, as the lineup stand right now, he is the only one who can do the "job" in that spot. Vizquel would be a huge pick-up IMO.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) New Dye nickname . Spiderman. since Dead no longer applies. Doesn't a certain Twins CF'er already have that nickname? -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) I remember seeing the samething. What gave you perspective was they had one of Mark McGwires bats next to it and it was TINY. But I'm sure McGwire's barrel was bigger.

Bass Ale is my beer of choice. This thread is making me thirsty.

They have one of Ruth's bats on display in Cooperstown. The thing looked like a tree trunk. The handle wasn't much smaller than the barrel.

Was it a throwing error or a missed grounder? Routine play or a tough chance? -
According to Levine, the Giants want a veteran pitcher, blue-chip pitching prospect and either Anderson or Sweeney for Schmidt. Schmidt has 2M left this year and 10.5M for next year. Seems like too much, especially if Vizquel isn't involved.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) At this point, I just want something to happen, PLease!!!!! Just trade something, f***, get us a different massage table, just make some sort of a move!!! Serioulsy, the week or 2 before the deadline is always the worst. Always wondering what is going to happen, when it is going to be announced and made official. The suspense is killing me!

Was it just me or did Crede show some emotion after that shot?
