  1. David Ortiz lost his mind. He didn't like a strike call on 3-0 and eventually struck out. He showed up the ump and got tossed. Then he had to be restrained by several players/coaches from going out after the ump. He then took a bat and smashed the s*** out of a phone box with shrapnel going everywhere.
  2. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) Crain for a PTBNL. De Aza and Lindstrom will be traded. Peavy and Rios will not be traded because the other GM's will not meet Hahn's demands. Hahn will stand firm showing the league that he is not a push over and doesn't have to move salary. Soxtalk will be disappointed and cranky. That's the only absolute certainty in this thread.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) Some think Peavy is going to bring a ton, other analysts don't. I'm sure there is so much misinformation out there that nobody knows. Take everything with a grain of salt. The only analyst I trust is Wite. racist
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 09:44 PM) I think you're underestimating Hahn's leverage with Peavy and Rios. The SOX do not have to move either, and SHOULD not move Peavy unless they get a haul - Hahn will likely even throw in a $5M+ to improve the package w/ Peavy. Rios is a different animal, and I think he will be moved if possible, but Hahn is still in very good position. No reason to take an offer at this minute unless someone bowls you over. De Aza could apply in the very same way due to his contract value and status. That's why in the prediction thread I said neither would be moved.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) Um, no. What the Sox need to target this deadline, in order: Shortstop, Center Fielder, Third Basemen, and a RH Starter. Peavy can net you the first 3. Use the rest of the resources to get pitching. I think people are really overrating what they think Peavy will bring back. Re: pushing Dunn Perhaps they mean in the way the Marlins wanted teams to take Dontrelle Willis to get Cabrera, as we as Mike Lowell with Josh Beckett to Red Sox.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) It's probably a good thing that he doesn't make his own decisions.
  7. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) The way things have gone I fully expect Peavy's arm to fall off pitching tomorrow. Watch Robin let him throw 150 pitches.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Makes you wonder what kind of package it would take to pry him away. Dunno, I've never been in the locker room.
  9. Other: 2 minor deals Matt Thornton already and another similar deal. Rios and Peavy don't clear waivers. Dunn clears waivers, but no deal will be made.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) Clay Buchholz now may not be back until September, which could get the Red Sox more interested in Peavy. Buchholz has a case of Derrick Rose-itis.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Yeah I didnt understand that post either....what should Rick do? Take whatever they offer him and say o well? Just a gut feeling prediction I have on how it will play out. It has nothing to do with should or should 't.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Yep, he's the PTBNL in the Garza deal I meant from the game. Obviously he's not being moved.
  13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) You would think/hope so, but I'm afraid he won't. I think he will still be with the White Sox in August because "the right deal wasn't there."
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:13 PM) What was your favorite memory of the Hanson era? mmmbop?
  15. Also, I was referring to it being quiet throughout baseball. I don't want Hahn to make a move just to make one either.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 06:32 PM) If I were the Cubs, I wouldn't get too greedy with Garza. Right now, they have the most desirable starting pitcher on the market. However, if Peavy comes back strong tomorrow, I think a lot of teams would prefer paying a premium for the guy with another 2 1/2 years of team control than the pure rental. Also, one thing that hurts teams acquiring Garza is they no longer get a comp pick if he leaves. That rule change is going to have a huge change on the value of rentals going forward. Yeah, I had forgotten about that. That has to be a big factor as well, as rentals' value decreases.
  17. How tall we're some of those tales? Say what you will though, he's definitely lived a life.
  18. Maybe because it's the situation that the Sox are in, but it seems overly quiet this year. Is it that the GMs are asking for too much? Too many teams think they're still in it? Lack of financial flexibility? I realize no one here knows for sure, but what do you guys think?
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) Watch Sean Hannity for like 90 seconds see also: "the blacks are gonna riot" and associated comments I plead the eighth.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS! More seriously, the game has been postponed. Doubleheader this weekend?
  21. Well, if Derrick Rose plays, I think they have a good chance at getting to the Super Bowl.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) 2013 happened. All they need now is for Rios to run into the outfield wall and break his wrist.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) Beckham is freaking awesome Do you think he'll move over to shortstop if Ramirez is traded?
