  1. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Steinbrenner has only two choices now: He can fire Torre or trade A-Rod. They’re the ones who must answer to the Yankees’ consistent underachievement. By all accounts, The Boss already has decided it’s Torre who’ll go, ready to replace him with Lou Piniella Couldn't (or shouldn't) he do both?
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Okay, who does Boston have to replace Crisp in CF? No one. They're in the same position as us. Prospects mean nothing, they're trying to win now because that's the window. They could throw a bunch of money at Torri Hunter. They've also used Wily Mo Pena there, as scary as that is. As far as the question of who WILL be leading off, not who I want to lead off, I also believe it will be Juan Pierre.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) Well he made $3M on the Red Sox this year so that's where you start at. He's 30 years old and plays excellent defense at a very important defensive position he has some definate injury concerns (missed 120 games in '02, ~30 games in '05 and ~50 games this season) so that's not good. He's crazy inconsistant at the dish but usually posts a batting average in the .225-.255 range and an OBP around .300 which is pretty horrible. He has displayed some good power in the past (18 HR in '03, 23 HR in '04) but doesn't seem to have a knack for driving in runs and seems to enjoy striking out (100K 4 times). He's likely going to make $2.5M - $3M next season. IMO, he's really no better than Uribe. I knew he wasn't an offensive guy or a speed guy, but I didn't realize how injury prone he is. It comes down to the devil you know, I guess.
  4. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) Ozzie's man crush. Was it Ozzie who called him "The most underrated/best shortstop in the AL"? The kid's definitely great (with the glove, anyway). I don't mean it as a smartass thing either, but does anyone have an idea of what he could/would demand for salary?
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) But, who honestly is a guy we can acquire who's actually a better value than Uribe, when taking everything into consideration (what we'd give up, the contract of the new guy). I know Rollins seems to be the God-child so far, but is he really a better value than Uribe, Fields, and Broadway (just a guess on the package)? Is he worth that, plus the couple million difference in salaries? Alex Gonzalez (Red Sox) will be a free agent. How much do you think he will demand?
  6. Clemens facing New York in the World Series?
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) AT LEAST WE OUTDREW THE TWINS THIS YEAR. and played better than the Cubs
  8. Who wants to bet that Ozzie plays a pretty much everyday lineup tomorrow?
  9. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) you dont' sound like a homer. you sound like someone who knows nothing about sports. or math
  10. Anyone else see the irony that if the game had been officially forfeited, the score would be 9-0?
  11. Red Sox and Yankee fans are the flip side of the same coin. The fact that most Red Sox fans don't see this makes it all the more amusing to me. (I know that there are exceptions with some individuals. I am speaking of the fan bases as a whole.)
  12. Where could I send a sympathy card? C/O White Sox?
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Ah, the world of baseball is as it should be again...the team with the most money is in the playoffs. fixed. Number 1 is in, but 2 (Red Sox), 3 (Angels), and 4 (White Sox ) are not. At least as far as payroll goes.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) If the playoffs started today, and the following teams -- NYY, DET, MIN, OAK, STL, NYM, SD, LA -- made the postseason, who would you root for. As long as the second round ended up as Dodgers vs. Mets, and A's vs. Yankees, I'd be all set. I could rationalize any scenario. I wouldn't be rooting for any particular team though.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) Actually it happened just last night. Not the score, but 4 CONSECUTIVE home runs.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) You mean NL pitching? Even with, how often does that happen? Not very.
  17. after trailing 9-5 in the bottom of the 9th, now tied 9-9 as I type. Can I have what they're having?
  18. QUOTE(JERMAINEDYE4MVP @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) I have a feeling that we will go on a good run starting tomorrow... Could someone PLEASE take the needle off the record. Thank you.
  19. Am I the only one who thinks they tanked the weekend to clinch at home? I mean the Pirates, come on.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) The only team I'll cheer for in the playoffs if we don't pull off a miracle is the Dodgers. I don't know about cheer, but I probably wouldn't mind the Yankees winning it all due to living in Boston, and the whole misery loves company thing. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:06 AM) I have one question, how does Prancer get into this f***ing game, but Gload who had 3 hits sits on the bench. Ozzie is a mope to the very end. Cause he's the F***ing manager, and he'll make the F***ing lineup!
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) I want to know why Lilly was so upset at being taken out. Dude gave up 7 earned runs in just over 2 innings of work. We should trade for him. Ozzie would have let him at least stay for the 5th to qualify for the win.
  22. Just saw on ESPN that Lily and Gibbons went at it in the tunnel following Lily being pulled. At least with Ozzie, it's only his mouth that gets him in trouble. This guy is REALLY nuts.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Whatever you do, just don't strap it on. We got another email here... and never bone a teammates bat. That's just wrong.
