Does anyone think they'll have both games on Directv, one via one of the alternate ESPN channels? My guide still has "to be announced" on those channels.

Official Game Thread 6/24 - Stros vs Sox 12:20

"Pitcher Change: Brandon McCarthy replaces Jon Garland." I like the sound of that. Let's make it permanent. -
To me, it's not so much about comparison, but rather trust or faith. What I mean by that is, do you trust a guy to go out there and get the save. Most times, only one team is going to have an opportunity to put their closer in for a save situation, if at all. While I don't believe Jenks is the best in regard to numbers or stats, I do think that most of the time he will get the job done. After Billy Koch and 2005 Takatsu, he doesn't have to be as good as Papelbon or Riviera, just be Bobby Jenks.

What? So Bobby jenks cuts you off and plays the "don't you know who I am" card? Is that right?

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) edit, the fact that we even bring up steroids (HGH, whatever) shows how f-ed up baseball has become because of your Bonds, Sosas, Palmeiro's, McGwires, Cansecos, etc. I hope the sport can recover so everytime a guy hits below his power averages he isnt accused of taking steroids. I disagree, to a point. Steroids and other performance enhancing drugs have been abused in baseball for a long time now. People have been ignoring the elephant in the living room until now that the all-time home run record could be broken. Especially since the guy not only used steroids, but he's also an asshole. It really bugs me when people only want to bring up steroids in regard to home runs. Pitchers use them also, and also the borderline players that use them just to elevate themselves from the minor leagues to the majors. Steroids does not equal HR numbers. Sure, it helps increase guys numbers. How many pitchers and soft-hitting leadoff type guys need to come out as steroid users before people look beyond the bashers. The problem is much bigger than them. pardon the pun.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) With Snow being DFA'd, and Texiera not performing to his abilities, perhaps a Snow for Weaver and cash trade would work. The Red Sox aren't going to get anything for J T Snow, GMAFB. He'd have been gone a while ago if they could.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) I could see Lance wearing black. Give Coop a few sessions with him, work on his cutter. I like it. Use him as a pinch runner. Can he use his bike?

QUOTE(Damen @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) Seeing Garcia throw nothing but garbage yet again, I was wondering, why don't we put Ozuna in his spot in the rotation. He's fast and always tries hard. It would probably help our team chemistry and give us more heart in the rotation, which is why haven't been winning as much. What do you guys think? I think I just entered the twilight zone.
-
I'm probably in the minority, but I like a defined strike zone. I can't stand when an announcer says a particular pitcher needs a certain pitch to be called a strike. To me, it's right in the rules of the game. To get a called strike, you need to throw it through the strike zone. I just want the umpires to get the call right, and to be consistant

GAME THREAD 6-11-06 SOX vs INDIANS

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Garcia and Garland...just...wow..those guys are f***ing great. Hmm, I see a pattern there. -
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) To get to Paulie? Thome hasn't been hitting well lately. I'd take my chances with Jim if I were Wedge. Gload's in the game now. He came in to pinch run.
-
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) In other words, Paulie gets a free pass because he's Paulie. Way to be objective. :rolly There's no denying that this team's situational hitting woes go far beyond Anderson and Uribe. By your logic, it's OK to expect some guys to come through ALL of the time, but totally unrealistic to expect others to come through even once in a long while.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) So McCarthy then. So I guess Carl Crawford will not be patrolling CF for the White Sox anytime soon. Ervin Santana > McCarthy, and the Angels would be crazy to make that deal.

What time does their flight leave?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Alright, looks like I joined at a good time here. Let's chase Padilla out of this ballgame right NOW. Too late.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Wow...actual intelligent, good baseball from our offense. It's been a while. It also made the sac fly an option, but when you don't need it, who cares? Or passed ball / wild pitch.

Shouldn't it be 0 outs?
