If Jenks is the closer, he should CLOSE!

If there's another incident next time they play, Scoscia will probably say he isn't aware of any problem between them.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 1, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) What year is it? I'm pretty sure it's from 1906. 100 year anniversary of the hitless wonders.

It's not his fault. The writers put up Peter Gammons' cue card by mistake.

Current Rule A relief pitcher is awarded a save when he meets all three of the following conditions: * He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; * He is not the winning pitcher; and * He qualifies under one of the following conditions: o He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or o He enters the game with the potential tying run either on base, at bat, or on deck; or o He pitches effectively for at least three innings. Under the last condition, the official scorer has some discretion as to whether or not to award a save to a pitcher. This is rule 10.20 (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/official_info/official_rules/official_scorer_10.jsp) of the Major League Rules.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Not to mention he is our only lefty starter and you must go in the "Way-back Machine" to find the last World Series Champ that won without a lefty in the rotation. You mean all the way back to 2004? (I think they definitely need to extend him, though. He's a great pitcher.)

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) I'm really liking Cintron...he just seems to find ways on base... Can he play left field? -
QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Marte gave up the lead and got his first BS No, Ive seen plenty of BS from him.

There's the rub. I don't think that would happen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) BTW, just my two cents, but this makes me hate the Vazquez trade now. In my mind, it's hard to separate the two. The reason being is that when they made the trade for Vasquez, the negotiations were going slow with Garland and Contreras. The deal was not made only at face value (player A for player B ), but to also gain leverage in their negotiations with their own guys. This deal may have not been done if the Vasquez trade didn't happen. -
Does anyone know if Joe Bulk will be doing football, or if he's staying to do the baseball game?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) Just because you don't like someone's opinions doesn't make those people ignorant. As a matter of a fact I have seen some of the most in depth and intelligent arguements made on both sides of the fence, which really makes your shallow comments which completely lacked detail and depth look, well for lack of a better term, ignorant. There is no need to make loud sweeping comments about a group of people. Especially when there is plenty of lack of evidence to the opposite. People have made arguments regarding the call itself on both sides, true. But to assume an Anaheim win if the result of that call was an out is a prediction. It has nothing to do with an opinion. The point is that the national coverage is that if that play resulted in an out, then the Angels win. That is what's aggravating to me, because it's not telling the whole story.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) It has been mentioned in every thread concerning "the call" Again, I'm talking about national perception. I understand the people here know it, it's just not playing that way nationally. Sorry for not being more eloquent.

I saw the edit, and should have been more specific. I wasn't attacking members here, but rather the sports radio blowhards.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) That last line was a little ignorant if you ask me... How so? If AJ is called out, it goes to extra innings. Do you have a crystal ball to know what would have happened? Is it the asshole part? We're not allowed to cuss here now?
-
Listening to radio, and watching ESPN, most people seem to give the impression that they feel Anaheim (yes Anaheim) was robbed of the game. The fact is though, they NEVER HAD A LEAD in the game. It is very presumptuous to assume they would win. NO ONE KNOWS what would have happened in extra innings. Quite frankly, if you say that Anaheim should be up 2-0, then you are an ignorant *******. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) they were talking about how steinbrenner is complaining about the alcs not being pushed back and wilbon stated that if the situation were reversed noone would care because it was the white sox and not the yankees or red sox it was happening too How nice of Steinbrenner to look out for the Angels like that.
-
No need to worry, Timo Perez could always play 1st.

Does anyone have the numbers of Garland this year against the Angels and Yankees?
-
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Take note of AJ after hitting the homerun(s). Run the bases like you have actually hit one before instead of staring at it. Oh wait, you didn't hit one today. Oh well. It drives me NUTS the way Manny stands at home plate posing after hitting a home run. The old school mentality was to knock a guy on his ass the next time up. But that's just "Manny being Manny". :finger

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) What's the story with this "Ramirez" fellow and that "Ortiz" guy? Are they any good? They have that great player Manny Ortez.

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) I don't belive that Olerud will be the main focus of the WSox in this series. I'm thinking that the LF and DH will be more of a concern. Most definitely, it's just one of those weird coincidences.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) 3? 1993, 2000 Olerud was on the team that beat the Sox. 1983, he was in elementary school. Yeah, I checked baseball-reference, and it was the last 2. They were probably getting ahead of themselves and counting THIS year as well. :finger
-
One of the hosts mentioned that the last 3 times the White Sox were eliminated in the playoffs, John Olerud was on the other team. He now plays for the Red Sox.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Who is going for the Red Sox against Contreras? Does anyone know the pitching matchups for the series?
