CINCO DE MAYO GAME THREAD: BOS @ SOX
Big Hurtin replied to cabiness42's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:51 PM) I LOVE ROBIN VENTURA! Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan 1h1 hour ago Robin Ventura not as excited about four first-place teams playing in Chicago tonight as some are: "I don’t care about the other game." But, does he even care about this one? -

Nice to see Jian Yang will be sticking around on Silicon Valley. Poor "Eric" Bachman

QUOTE (shysocks @ May 2, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) I've now read approximately 950 defenses of Hawk proclaiming "PEOPLE DON'T LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE IS A HOMER BUT THAT IS WHY I LIKE HIM" since the last time I saw somebody complaining about him being a homer. Let me tell ya folks, there are plenty of other reasons he's no longer good at his job. Him cheering for the Good Guys isn't even a factor. I don't get that sentiment either. It seems like a self esteem issue.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 10:49 PM) After listening to Jason for such a long string of games, am I the only one that was bored as s*** watching this game tonight? Granted, it was a Danks start...but still. Stoney is so much more talkative and, eh, "fun" when working with Jason. It kind of felt like going back to work a Monday after a vacation vs. any other Monday. It sets in and you're like, "oh, this again". I'm sure it was 100% Hawk's decision to cut back, but with them both doing the games, you can't help but compare.

It looks like Trump v Hillary for sure. The thing I find interesting, is both of them have people who would never admit that they voted for him / her publically. I'm interested in seeing how the votes break down.

2+ OTs tonight?

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a game end with runner getting hit by batted ball. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Well, that's kind of a pretty legit excuse if he's hobbled or, even worse, can't play. Anything official yet? I didn't mean that the excuse wouldn't be valid. It's just, as fans, we don't know what the outcome would have been with both teams being healthy. It happens in sports (stars injured), but this was one as a non-partial observer, I would have enjoyed.

This stinks that we won't get a full strengh Warriors - Spurs series. That was destined to be one for the ages. I think the Spurs might have taken them anyway, but the excuse is already there.
-
This should've been a poll. I like listening to the new guy a lot more. Hawk is a vastly overrated cliche. He's like those morning zoo radio shows that play those "wacky" sound effects.

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) Fairweather Chicago fans watching the Cubs. Well, they had a no-hitter and more runs scored in the game than the Sox have in a week. -
Well, it can't get much worse. How much better, no idea.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) ESPN fires Curt Schilling. Bout time. Yeah, not smart. (Schilling). How will ESPN find another former player to talk about baseball?

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) I'm sure the R word is not okay, but it's also not the focus of a Blackhawks/NHL partnership. But think of the merchan..., never mind

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Weaver throws like 75 mph now. I've gotta believe he's going to start getting hammered. Might as well be today. I hope so. They're gonna need more than 2 today. -

QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Sox win tonight 10-4; 15 hits and 4 homeruns. I'M CALLING IT!!! Starting a day early? -
The offensive problems are pretty obvious. There are only 2 run producers in the lineup and they are both slumping. They don't have a 20 HR guy in the entire outfield nor at DH. The warm weather will really expose their warts.

Kerry Wood and Roger Clemens nervous?

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) Disappointed Saul wasn't bumped up to 13 episodes, but oh well. It's awesome and should ramp up on awesomeness the next couple seasons. On a separate note, the Jackie Robinson doc on PBS is must see. You'll learn a couple things you didn't know. The network actually dropped it to ten. It was originally going to be 13. I'm not sure how it's doing in the ratings, but hopefully they get to complete their story.

Ugh, only the Twins' broadcast is on EI. Hopefully with basketball ending, they'll put these games (non-CSN) on. -

He's not going anywhere. Let's bring up Robin replacements. That's another dead horse that could use a few more whacks. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) I bought the new one right when it came out and watched it again in the privacy of my own home and I liked it even more. Are you talking about The Force Awakens? If so, how are the bonus features?
