  1. Again, PM me if you want action on the Tigers series this weekend. I am betting against a sweep. So far I have received zero PMs.
  2. we are 17-5 in our last 22 despite our rotation being mediocre this is: a. cause for serious concern b. an indication of how deep, balanced and good this team is I choose b
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) If you can tell me our offense will continue to lead the league in scoring, I'll get off the ledge. What reason have they given you to think that they won't? If you're "on the ledge" right now after one loss in pittsburgh, jesus f***ing christ how did you ever survive 01-03 without killing yourselves several times over
  4. Again, I'm a little shocked that people are jumping off ledges about a team still on pace to win 103+ games this season.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Last year we dominated the weak teams, especially our division, and we played 500 ball against the good teams. People criticized us and said well you didnt really beat the good teams, we couldnt beat the As crap like that. Now we are using the same comments for Detroit. It's one thing to go .500 against teams you'll likely be facing in the postseason It's quite another to be .350-.400 against them.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Not sure if you've noticed but they are beating everyone now. Not just the bad teams. Winning instills confidence. They have a can't lose mentality now. What good team have they won a series from in the past month? Bear in mind any NL team doesn't qualify as a "good team"
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Didn't we have our ace going today? I'd take Liriano and Santana over any of our SP right now, and it's not close
  8. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) And the Tigers absolutely dominate the inferior teams. Guess it's a wash. Yeah, you're right, being able to take 4 from KC at Kauffmann will sure come in handy when they are getting their asses handed to them in Boston this postseason.
  9. Liriano and Santana, the Twins' two aces, pitched at that series at PNC. Also, Oliver Perez was STILL in the rotation for the Pirates, and he has been BRUTAL this year. Just blindly pointing at the schedule and slobbering "SEE TWINS SWEPT- WE f***ING SUCK" is more than a little misguided. The Tigers are sending Bonderman and Miner to the bump this weekend vs the Pirates, and those two could get touched up a bit, especially going from a pitchers park to a short porch.
  10. Yes, this loss is disappointing. Yes, I would've felt better with a sweep. Everyone is so hung up on this division bulls***, christ do you realize that we are 6 up on the WC? I know Sox fans are not accustomed to looking at that, and it's not something we should settle for. Luckily we won't have to eventually. f*** the Tigers. Once they get off of their minor league schedule, we'll see what they are really made of. They have a brutal July after the all-star break. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take a 5 game losing streak somewhere in there. The difference between the Sox and the Tigers is that the Sox beat the good teams. I seriously will take action on the Tigers/Pirates series.
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Two of three on the road? Yes, in most cases, that is all you can ask for. But, when playing the arguably the worst team in Major League Baseball, that no longer holds any weight. When in a hunt for both the division and the pennant, that sort of mentality will cripple a winning ballclub. That is schoolyard, homer bulls***. You need to win 3/3 from the Pittsburgh Pirates when you are the defending champions and are trailing a team that will not be going away--Le Tigre are there for the long haul. You know what's bulls***? A pessimistic fan incapable of contextualizing a one-game road losing streak.
  12. I would absolutely bet against the Tigers sweeping the Pirates at PNC.
  13. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) Well 2 and a half out and the Tigers are going to get another Sweep and no matter what we never sweep the Cubs so I expect to be 3 and a half back by Monday. Oh wow, another faithless doom and gloom projection after a single bad road loss Color me surprised
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Plenty of blame to go around, today. As was said in the game-thread, you simply have got to beat the teams you are supposed to beat. If you want to win this division--especially this year--you have got to beat the teams with the worst records in all of baseball. This is an awful team the defending champions lost to today. Don't give me any of that, "but, they won the series, that's all you can ask for" bulls***. Tell that to the Tigers. Ask them to slow down and start settling for series victories without the sweep. Bad. But we won the road series, that's all you can ask for on the road I've said it about a trillion times already, Pittsburgh is not even close to the same team away from PNC Park as they are at home.
  15. you think these dumbasses who have no faith whatsoever in this team would learn their lesson day after day, but here we are again
  16. one would think that the faith in a team that had just won 10 out of 11 games would go a little farther than it did in this game thread but there you have it, we had people jumping off of buildings once again in the 6th inning I just don't understand why certain people's faith in this team is paper thin I'm not putting myself on some high ground here, this looked like a loss to me too, sure but I don't get the perspective of people who want to blow up a few bad innings into a much bigger deal than it is it's happened in numerous game threads this season, especially recently I personally think it stems from the uneasiness of the Tigers constantly being in front of us
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Silly me for thinking that the 2nd best team in all of baseball could sweep the doormat of the NL Central. Road sweeps are incredibly difficult and rare, no matter what the team.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Hopefully we can come back tonight. If not, this is a terrible f***ing sports day. Tigers won, Yankees won, Cubs won, and the Bulls pick the Tyson Chandler of college bball. this may have been the first time in human history you've ever used the word "hopefully"
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) We have the best offense in baseball, we have the second best record. We have our number 2 pitcher going up against a guy who might crack our AAA rotation. The royals swept them. Okay, now pay attention...because this is the part no one seems to be getting where did the Royals sweep them?
  20. Maybe I should invoke the "I wouldn't be surprised if tonight's game was the start of a long losing streak" battle cry :rolly
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) The Pirates suck. In the past, we would have problems because the teams we were chasing would dominate the weak teams, and we would lose games to those weak teams that we shouldn't have. However, the Pirates have clearly outplayed us tonight so far. The Pirates are nearly a .500 team at home. The Pirates do indeed suck on the road
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) We haven't played a bad team in about a month. And when we do we seem to struggle at times. Yes, when you play 6-8 bad teams an aggregate 50 times a year, guess what, you are not going to go 50-0. As long as the Sox win this series, we have nothing to complain about. The Pirates are a very competitive team at home.
  23. The sox haven't lost a game to a bad team in about a month, and now that they are two runs behind late in the game you guys are already having a b****fest
