  1. Lopez' second half numbers (5-7, 4.62 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) would be just fine for a number 5 starter, especially within the context of the Sox having a great veteran FA pitching pickup and Cease, Kopech and Giolito rounding out the other slots.
  2. Q: What is the magic number of number of Castillo at bats remaining in his white Sox career? A: one too many
  3. I don't think so. When he hit 3 homers last August, his BABIP was .375. This is different.
  4. I don't know. Since coming back, in 54 second half games, he's hitting .243/.310/.396/.706, with 5 homers, 5 doubles and a triple. HIs BABIP is two points higher than his career average. He could end up being a pretty valuable defensive replacement if his bat has seriously improved this much.
  5. Yolmer should absolutely not be brought back. Leury is in his final year of control and could start the year at 2nd while we are waiting for Madrigal and be a super-util elsewhere. I'm assuming Engel witll be the fourth OF.
  6. Well, we were told the money will be spent, so we'll see. I'm surprised more people don't think Machado is having a really disappointing year. If Machado put up a 107+ OPS for the Sox this board would have been all over that signing as being bad
  7. Except that this is about the next ten years, and it seems with the addition of Robert alongside Moncada, Abreu (assuming he comes back), Jimenez, Anderson, and eventually, Andrew Vaughn will have enough power without $30 million dollars of contract eaten by a player who does not seem worth that deal per annum.
  8. if he's doing a lot worse there than he should, it would seem as though he is underperforming his contract
  9. but what about his OPS+, which is only 107, and accounts for park factor?
  10. Yes, but Machado really hasn't been that valuable offensively - his value has largely been generated this season, defensively. His offense this year hasn't really been that great. I'm glad we missed out of Machado, in hindsight. I know we missed for the wrong reasons but I'm glad we did.
  11. Why is Skole here? Seems like the ultimate AAAA player
  12. Would love to have had audio of Hawk calling the last couple innings of this one
  13. Is there a way to send Ruiz down mid at bat? I would be in favor
  14. I thought Leury had one more arb year but Yolmer was FA?
  15. At least Tim will now qualify for the batting title tonight with 29 PAs in this game
  16. If Renteria sat Timmy tonight because of anything other than an injury I’m buying a ticket to Soxfest just to tell him to go fuck himself to his face
  17. Another home run for Jose! He’s so hot the last two months
  18. 38 days after Ron did a victory lap while dancing on Jose’s grave and essentially called him utterly worthless, he now comes back with Jose is worth maybe 18 million dollars next year.
  19. Yes, obviously I meant offensive players. And I did forget Ventura
  20. “Decent” offensive producer?? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think like 2 White Sox players in my lifetime have over 20 WAR in six consecutive seasons, Frank and Mags. Paul Konerko never even came close over any six consecutive seasons. And that WAR number is including Jose’s defense.
