  1. Let's say Abreu is 2 years older than listed (although there's nothing to prove that). When Konerko hit FA as a 34 year old slow first baseman, did you want to renew him? as it because he had a breakout year in 2010 where he had one of the highest WARs of his career? Did you even think he could possibly replicate that? Was it simply because "world series"/intangible things? Did you want him to retire a White Sox, having played almost all of his games here? The sentiment with Abreu seems to be much that he's more disposable. Either flip him for value or don't re-sign him. The sentiment seems to be that he MUST be declining, even though we all know he was dinged up last year. Konerko was a career 27.7 WAR player over 18 seasons. Abreu is a 19.4 over 5+ seasons. If he has a .850 OPS / 3.0 WAR year, should we keep him? Btw I'm one of the ones who generally thinks we should NOT keep him but I'm wondering why I felt differently about Konerko in 2010.
  2. Also we are very quietly 9-6 in the last 15 since starting 3-8
  3. I'd see what Rondon could do with the stick this year. Could we move him to first?
  4. Will cross 1000 career PAs tonight
  5. Did Tim actually serve the suspension yesterday? Or was he just out of the lineup?
  6. If Tim Anderson continues to have a BA above .400 and an OPS north of 1.1 he can flip the bat on every damned at bat as far as I’m concerned Cant wait til he wins player of the month and maybe West can overrule and throw that out without any accountability and then Sox fans can find a way to blame the player literally setting April on fire for just doing what keeps him motivated to set April on fire Do you, Tim
  7. what is happening in this game? gameday hasn't moved in like 10 minutes.
  8. Why is Eloy batting fifth and Anderson sixth? Considering Anderson's been on fire I would think he merits batting higher.
  9. The New York Yankees aren’t really a shitty team. The Sox flat out outplayed them and their talent last weekend. Yes they’re without Stanton, but they still have a good team. The jury is out on the 2019 White Sox, IMO. They could be a 75-80 win team of things start really clicking or they could be a 65-72 win team if things go backwards again soon. one thing’s for sure - we shouldn’t be hearing any more talk after the last five games about how “historically bad” they will be this season
  10. Great comeback! I’m hopeful that we might see a good stretch of baseball coming up from the Sox, given the opponents...
  11. Does Rick Hahn get any credit for locking up Tim Anderson long term in what's looking like a VERY good deal? If I recall correctly, a lot of people thought he wasn't even a totally legit option as late as mid last year. Or are we just doing just bad stuff in this thread?
  12. We are 11 games into a 162 game season. My sincere advice to boarders who are (understandably) extraordinarily frustrated is to not get wedded to a doom and gloom board persona wherein you are rationalizing your position that everything sucks for the remainder of this season. They might break out versus the Yanks this weekend. They might next week. Let's all just relax and let it happn. Certainly, at some point, they're going to go through a stretch where they play much much better baseball than this. There's no pressure on this team from a record standpoint - so who cares how many wins and losses we have? Silver linings are in a bunch of places - Gio's first start Rodon's first AND second start Moncada/Eloy/Anderson's great starts Even identifying things like "Palka is a sure fire NON major leaguer" is way better than him dabbling with 20 home runs and a 0.8 WAR to have him hang around. Same goes for a player like Yolmer. The sooner we move on from placeholders, the better place we will be in medium term. I'm gonna give it 30 games. I suggest everyone think about doing the same.
  13. I see almost everyone is totally giving up on everyone and everything after a few bad games. I’m not. You know, sometimes teams, even really good ones, go through ten game stretches where they play absolutely horrible baseball. The Red Sox are in a brutal stretch and so are the Cubs. This team isn’t good, but I don’t think they’re this bad. Maybe I’m wrong. I guess maybe we should give this 30 games before we turn every game thread into a shitposting central. I get the frustration. We don’t know yet.
  14. THANK YOU. This board has become a lunatic asylum. As long as Moncada makes progress, Anderson is good, Eloy makes strides, we get one serviceable pitcher out of Giolito or Lopez, and we can stay injury free, our 2019 objectives have been achieved. REGARDLESS OF OUR RECORD.
  15. I’m curious as to why Moncada and Anderson don’t have a measurable track record yet but Giolito and Lopez do?
  16. Everybody calling everything garbage please share your perspective on exactly how Yoan, Eloy, and TA fit into your “everything is garbage” worldview
