?? THE ELVIS ANDRUS THREAD OF OPS INFAMY ??
Greg Hibbard replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Did 29 year old Tim Anderson need to watch grass grow today while 34 year old Andrus proved he's Cal Ripken come again? -
Good people of Soxtalk, "Iron Man" Elvis Andrus, the Unsubstitutable, is on track for an absolutely historic season. As far as I can tell, the single worst OPS season for a hitter in the modern era with a minimum of 400 PAs is Jackie Bradley Jr's 2021. where he slashed an INCREDIBLE .163/.236/.261 for an OPS of .497 And Elvis is on track to perhaps beat that! Entering today's action, Elvis' slash line through the entire season is a hearty .194/.267/.231 for an OPS of .498 Not even beloved SOXTALK figure LEURY LEGEND reached 400 PAs in his magical 2022 season, where over his 315 PAs he had a .500 OPS. The truly wonderful piece of news is that unlike the rest of these LOSERS who Pedro thinks need a day off here and there to watch grass grow, Elvis "GRINDERMAN" Andrus has played EVERY TEAM GAME SO FAR !!! Amazing!!! So Elvis can really do this! What an accomplishment it would be - perhaps a statue is in order?? Now I know what you're about to ask! You're excited and want to know - What can we do as fans to help? We, as fans, need to encourage Pedro "GENIUS" Grifol to continue to play Elvis Andrus in EVERY TEAM GAME, as it's clear that our very own IRON MAN absolutely NEVER needs a day off - not one to clear his head, not one for injury, not one for the good of the team, not for any sort of change of pace. Nope, Elvis "Iron Man" Andrus is the very heart and soul of the 2023 GRINDERBALL White Sox campaign! We're all rooting for you, Elvis! History awaits!

Sitting Anderson is inexcusable unless he’s injured. I don’t understand the way our organization now insists on babysitting these players who are in their friggin twenties and early thirties.
-
This is a totally different team with Tim Anderson. More than anyone else, he changes everything.
-
I personally think Robert will be fine as a keeper, but it depends on how your stats work.

Hanser doing Hanser things.

Looks like three helpings of crow is on the menu for me tonight, boys! Wow.

Sox need to score in the 9th or it’s an auto loss
-
No Leury? He played RF in certain crucial situations…with massively catastrophic results ?
-
For what end? Defense means nothing when the team is already out. Who cares about fielding at this point? This season is over. I don’t even care if Eloy gets hurt. Let them play and sink or swim. We need to find out what these men can do that we have invested so much in. If the gong show happens, let them lose by 11. A better draft pick is what we want anyway.

Since the end of the 2018 season, over the last 4 seasons, Billy Hamilton has a combined 549 PAs. He has 91 hits, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs over those 4 seasons combined. I get the late speed threat, but keeping a guy on the team to just steal bases when you can’t and shouldn’t win games anyway makes no sense. Billy Hamilton literally adds no future value to this organization whatsoever. He’s just another schlub who plays one aspect of baseball well enough to have had a middling career like so many other schlubs we have had before.
-
Only the White Sox organization can say with a straight face to their fanbase that they are promoting washed up AAAA asset Billy Hamilton to the major league roster in the same breath that they also say with a straight face that they are still trying to breathe life into a team to compete for the playoffs and remain in the conversation as being one of the premier AL teams. Either they are too dumb to know how bad at this they are, or they are just that sociopathic towards their fanbase. I honestly can’t decide which these days.

I don’t mind using this year to find out what we can get from all these part time question marks. Clearly Romy and Sosa aren’t ready. If I had it my way, DFA Elvis when Anderson returns, have Moncada split 3b/2B, play Burger at 3b/DH, play Colas every day in RF, just DH Sheets almost every day until he plays himself in or out of the major leagues. If Sheets can’t hack it eventually and turns into another Palka, bring up the next corpse. Game outcomes don’t matter, so defense doesn’t matter. Evaluate the bats. Can these guys hit or not?
-
How about we just get rid of everyone?
-
Colas needs to play every day all year regardless of outcomes if the White Sox are going to have the most information possible on his future in the offseason. This is a losing season. It doesn’t matter whether we win 60% of our remaining games - we don’t have the talent to win the playoffs. We need to assess the major league readiness of our best prospects and let them try to play through the rough patches.

Eh, the jury really is out on Vaughn, but I’m sick of settling for the 8th or the 12th or 14th best player at a given position as some sort of benchmark of success. Good organizations, when they have a top 5 pick, draft players who end up in the top 5 of their position. Hopefully Vaughn can become the .900 OPS commodity we all hope for, because that’s what he needs to be.
-
Jose has had very poor 30 game stretches before, particularly early in the season. It’s concerning, but I don’t think there’s any way Houston doesn’t let him try to play through it for the whole year with maybe a couple days off to clear his head if it gets really bad.
-
Do you think a .792 OPS from Andrew Vaughn is below, at, or above what you expected from him at this point in his MLB career?
-
If we’ve learned one thing over the last 7 years, it’s that making negative threads about Abreu definitely paints a TOTALLY ACCURATE picture of how he will perform from that point forward!

That's a 7 runs in the 9th inning walk off White Sox Winner

Weird, because I saw that exact video like a week ago in a completely different context. What the hell? -

What’s the best case scenario if they start playing to their talent level of 2020-21 when they were on a 96ish (.592) win clip? 7-21 start + a .592 clip the rest of the way is an 87 win season. Do we think that wins the Central? Is that really going to get us anywhere? -
I hope Hawk and Ozzie air out how bad this is on every outlet that will have them. We need them to slam this org and air dirty laundry. We need Reinsdorf, Hahn, Williams, Grifol all to hear every day how awful they are. We need to run them all out of town on a rail.

Don’t stop now boys!!! 11 is within sight

Winning this game will be a punch in the gut. Utterly counterproductive at this point.
