  1. I hope he gets another chance, because the bottom line was that he was completely mishandled here and it didn't give him a good enough chance to succeed. However, the White Sox have MUCH bigger fish to fry than Brian Anderson right now.
  2. I've always suspected Valentin had to be roiding when he came to the Sox.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) The same way he could give Jermaine Dye a B by following up a 44/120/1.007 season with a 28/77/.805 one... I expected a significant dropoff after an off the charts career year. Dye's career OPS is .823.

  5. I just don't think it's fair to bash people for not being capable of doing things we knew they were not capable of doing, that's all.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) When this team was really struggling, Thome wasn't playing well. Also, his sub .200 batting average against LHP really hurts us, as we needed more production from the DH spot against the great lefties in the AL. As you can tell by how I gave guys like Konerko and Owens the same grade, it didn't just have to do with production, but playing up to their capabilities as well. 2004-2006 Thome is a .226 hitter against lefties. So he would've gotten an A if he would've just hit .226? We knew he sucked against lefties going into this season. In fact, many of us were crying for a semi-platoon against lefties. I don't see how it's fair to grade Thome hard because he's not "playing up to his capabilities" if we acknowledged preseason that he sucks against lefties. We didn't get Jim Thome because of his ability to hit LHP!
  7. Not giving Thome an A....you're joking, right? Dude missed thirty games and still hit 33 homers and almost 100 rbis with an average just 7 points below his career average at almost age 40 what the hell would have been an A for you people?
  8. f*** him. If he would have wanted a more respectful response from a former fan, he should've been more considerate and caring about what the fans wanted for the last twenty plus years.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) They were just like 3 or 4 games over and got hot against Pittsurgh and Cincy. I guess I just don't follw them as closely as you do. Nah, I just glanced at today's standings because I didn't think you were correct.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) The sad thing is that the Cubs barely are .500, and probably wouldn't be if they didn't play in the house of horrors that is the NL Central. Cubs are 10 games over, how is that "barely .500"
  11. just extended his hitting streak to 15 games...
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) Yeah your right. I just think it is a case of Josh being very good at hitting bad pitching, and taking advantage of facing bullpen arms. Obviously he hit the one off Putz, but even that was just a 1st pitch fastball that Josh guessed right on, and we were down 5 with the bases loaded so Putz took the risk and lost (although still got the save in the end). I think Josh is just really good at hitting bad pitchers at this point in his career, and if you want to see those, get at bats late against bullpens. 17 homers in 75 games is a sick total for Josh - I know it's probably too early to project a full season but basically he's shaping up to put up Adam Dunn like numbers - 40 HR, .245-.250 AVG for a season - with a hell of a lot more upside than Dunn. I'm pretty excited to see his 2008.
