what are we looking at, about a 1:37 game here?
-
don't get me wrong.... I'm just kind of thinking out loud here.
-
oops, Dye is hitting sixth currently.
-
I just don't like Dye, and don't think he belongs anywhere higher than 6th in the order. What about moving Konerko down?
-
Re: .455...five hits over 7 days goes a long way to blostering Dye's average when he's held out for 2 games. How many more hits does Dye have than Crede in the last 7 days? 2?
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:55 AM)Yeah move down Dye when he's hot and Crede has done dick for at least a week.
apparently you missed the game last night.
-
I think we need to move Crede up and Dye and Konerko down until they start hitting more consistently.
-
thanks for the kudos guys
I'm really not all that bothered by the (lack of) national attention to be truthful....the more this team flies under the radar the better it seems to do....

I want to personally take my hat off to Joe Morgan,
prognosticator of prognosticator, who said kicking off
the season that he felt that Detroit and Cleveland had
the talent to make it a tough three-way race with
Minnesota all season.
Sure enough, Cleveland proved tonight that they
definitely belong in the picture. They hung right with
the twins and then beat them in the ninth.
W L GB Minnesota 15 11 - Detroit 12 14 3 Cleveland 11 15 4
Mr. Morgan didn't go as far to mention what place the
three teams would be fighting it out for, but because
he was so prescient I'm going to go ahead and just
assume he meant second place.
Of course he didn't bother mentioning the White Sox in
that particular broadcast, despite the fact that very
team was facing Minnesota that very night....although
I'm sure that was just a mental slip. Lord knows he
had too much to think about that night, such as why
Craig Biggio or any other second baseman doesn't
belong in the hall of fame, and what the Giants and
Padres were up to while he was being bothered to be in
the midwest for a couple of hours.
Anyway, kudos to Joe for the sharp analysis. Look for
this race to heat up as the season moves along!

lol.

seriously Gene are you ever gonna fix that Podsednik stat or is that some sort of inside joke I'm missing?
-
his first at bat last night embodies everything that's wrong with Konerko. Gets way ahead in the count, hits a double just foul, hits a homer way foul, barely fouls off ball 4, then pops out. He needs to just adjust his timing or his stance slightly and he'll be all over the baseball. It really is a game of inches.

I thought it might be cool to document when we go to games all year. I seem to always forget one or two dates if I don't keep track.
4/18/05 - v. Minnesota, 5-4 WIN (Vizcaino), Section 130, Row 18.
5/30/05 - v. Anaheim, 5-4 WIN (Politte), Section 126, Row 10.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 3, 2005 -> 01:37 PM)Must be a mistake because they have 26 players on the roster.
yeah, what he said.

Hey Gene.....who knew Podsednik would hit 74 home runs this quickly, huh?
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2005 -> 12:30 PM)Who knows what Ozzie knows. Looking at Vizcainos outings, he is a one inning pitcher.
I agree with you. But I also think he's definitely not a first option pitcher. I would only go to him in the 7th with at least a 2 run lead. I definitely would not hand him the ball with a tie ball game when Politte was available! Tie game or 1 run either way, I'm going Politte, Marte, Hermanson and possibly Takatsu. If I need someone to go 1+ it's Hermanson and frankly, I don't really care if Vizcaino is getting his work in or not.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2005 -> 12:25 PM)Sure when you take an outing that was obviously not what you were just desribing his usuage as. He was going into his 4th inning of work, and threw enough pitches to just about qualify as a 5th starters outing. Keep in mind that Vizcaino is a one inning pitcher, no doubt. Of course you are going to discount that outing. As would any manager or general manager who was trying to assess his potential value to a team. Do you honestly believe they would look at his 8 era and say forget it? Or would they know that that outing was something you would never ask Vizcaino to do again, and not worry about it. They would actually look at how he did his job, not someone elses.
interesting assessment considering Vizcaino has worked more than 1 inning in 6 of his 10 outings this season. Are you sure Ozzie knows he's only a "one inning pitcher, no doubt"?
-
yeah, but he doesn't have a 4.00 era. I am discounting his worst outing! Discount every other middle reliever's worst outing and they probably all have ERA's under 3.00. Go ahead, pick any mediocre (not BAD, mind you) reliever and try it....
-
yeah, but my whole point is...is this the first guy you want out of the pen in a 1-1 game?
-
even if we completely take out the Cleveland debacle, he is still not very good:
11IP, 12H, 5ER, 3BB, 6K, 4.09ERA, 1.27WHIP
