  1. QUOTE(Balance @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) I wonder what the Vegas over/under for this game is. Will the White Sox score a run tonight? I sure don't think so. I've been making a KILLING playing the white sox under this season 9-3-2 so far overall and I haven't lost once in June tonight I got it at 8.5. Last night's 9.5 was easy money.
  2. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) There is nobody to trade this year that makes us better next year. Who says I'm interested in getting better next year? I'm interested in replenishing our farm system.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 9, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) It's almost to the point where seeing Fields play well is more important than how this team does. Fields will be with this team longer than just about anyone else in this organization. I root for five or six players right now: Vazquez, Danks, Jenks, Fields, Konerko and Masset when he starts.
  4. guys, don't fret: winning would be the worst thing for this team right now. Just a few more losses and we can clean house.
  5. how can you not love the under every single day with this team
  6. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:51 AM) Why listen if it aggravates you so much? What is the point, the guys who said most of the callers are not that bright are correct. And the guys who say Rongey is not the most knowledgeable baseball guy and spins everything are also correct. Once you have those two elements of the equation figured out you realize the postgame show is what it is. Basically a waste of time. After last night I won't be listening. This dude is pretty much the biggest douchebag on radio.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) I think he's refreshing. His banter with the Sox fans after the games is usual quite in depth and enlightening, I find myself learning something new after every game it seems. It is truly great radio, I'm not sure why you dislike him so. because he lacks a basic sense of common courtesy and gets emotional while defending the company line
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) At the same time, you want to get something in return for him. And the best possible way to do that is making sure he doesn't devalue his .283 from last year further.
  9. Just shut him down. I'm much more interested in seeing what Fields can do at this point and cutting this guy loose as soon as possible.
  10. I have never heard a more irritating postgame show, and that's saying quite a lot, especially after the Dave Wills era. Tonight's highlights included him berating some guy for daring to suggest that Walker needs to be replaced by constantly barking "how is this his fault? how is this his fault? These guys already know how to hit!!!" etc. etc. He then proceeded to cut the guy off at every possible instance. I've had it with listening to the White Sox on the radio. If I ever have to hear this guy again, I'll probably just kill mysefl. This guy routinely disposes of anyone who dares to have a different opinion than whatever he feels is the standard company line d'jour. Seriously, what the f*** does this guy know about major league hitting? Anyone who has played the game has made in-career adjustments. It's not as though just scrubs need hitting instruction. Frank Thomas anyone? He also responded to "well then what is his job" with "YOU TELL ME! YOU TELL ME!" what a f***ing douchebag.
  11. neither yet, although the idea behind this offseason's moves was absolutely baffling at the time, and the results are not surprising. hopefully kenny learns from this either sell and rebuild or keep the title contender together don't do this half-assed bulls*** if we are around .500 at the ASB we are looking at a worst case scenario 2007
  12. hopefully we'll stay on enough of a losing streak to tear this team down to the core next month
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:25 PM) The twins have stones, the sox have pebbles. correction: the twins have regular season stones
  14. we either need to go on a big winning streak or a massive losing streak the worst position we can be in come June/July is 6 or so games back with about a .500 record
  15. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ May 29, 2007 -> 10:19 PM) You shouldn't assume Santana is automatically gone. The Twins will have a new ballpark and added revenue. With their rotation in 2008, they'll be a championship quality team and might have playoff and World Series revenue. Santana has indicated he'll offer a discount to the Twins. And, historically, the Twins have rarely lost their best player to free agency -- they ponied up a bunch of money for Puckett. Anyway, for the Sox the truth of the matter is that they are on a collision with the Royals to battle for 4th place for the next 5 years unless something unlikely happens to turn things around (e.g. fantastic deadline trades of Buehrle & Garland that bring in a bunch of talent). I'm sure that sounds overly pessimistic, but the minor league system is so utterly devoid of talent that you're looking at a 4 or 5 year wait for an impact player to be brought up from the minors because they would have to be drafted this year. The rebuilding process could be accelerated by keeping the payroll high and getting a decent free agent or 2, but I doubt the payroll stays high when attendance drops. yankees or red sox will offer santana 10/250 twins won't come within 100 million of that total /end negotiations we're talking about the best pitcher in baseball, and maybe one of the very best of all time no way he stays in minneapolis, in my opinion
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 29, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) Did you just call me wimpy? Ha! I don't have faith that the 2008 and 2009 White Sox will be any good. It's looking like we'll be a fourth place team. Fifth if the Royals prospects pan out, and they've got some fantastic ones. Our minor league system is garbage. I don't think we have the will to win too many bidding wars and we'd have to to build a good team, what with our system. There's lots to dislike about this organization's future. Too much to dislike about it. I was borrowing a hawkism from the 90s, when tom paciorek was his partner... also, we could fire sale a lot of this team if the organization wakes up and smells the mocha java
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) The time to act was in the offseason. There was little done to help this big league roster...a roster that looked dead tired all during the 2nd half last year. KW's inability to get major league ready talent for Garcia really hurt. I'm not sure how much it matters though....the Tigers/Indians are much more talented than we are, and they have younger legs. If Liriano can return for the Twins next year, there's no way you can project the Sox higher than 4th place for the next few seasons. this post is right on, except that the twins lose santana after next season (?). Also, there's no guarantee the white sox will not drastically change the team in this offseason Also, for those who wanted the team to "compete" year in and year out and be "in position to win" at all times....welcome to allstar break hell where you never quite know if your team is good enough or bad enough to do anything whatsoever. Welcome to being the Houston f***ing Astros. bring back the "where would he play" sigs, stat also, how anyone thought this team was much better than 83-87 wins before the season started is still beyond me bringing back podsednik, signing erstad and getting no ML talent for garcia was the death knell
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) C) I'm happy that the team's marketing is so good. I love our commercials, ads, billboards, etc. etc. They're good. I really think we're going to need that to keep good attendance in the coming years because the product on the field sure isn't going to attract people long-term. I love it when you generalize, wimpy, especially over several years in a way that makes no sense the 2008 and 2009 white sox will not necessarily look anything like this team whatsoever.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) should be a fun game... shouldn't that be in green sox have had virtually no chance against santana when he's at home I do not feel good about this one
  20. QUOTE(greppson24ottondo @ May 25, 2007 -> 04:34 AM) without looking at any statistics from a year ago, it seemed like we played down to our competition. i don't always know that playing weaker teams plays to the advantage of the sox Some rough, fly by the seat of my pants math seems to indicate we were 38-25 last year against sub-.500 teams, a .603 winning percentage
  21. As I mentioned on page 1 of the game thread, the White Sox SUCK at sweeping teams. Now 6-13 in their last 19 opportunities to sweep, 0 for their last 5 overall, 0-3 this season. Something about Ozzie and day game lineups on getaway day (and not a very good/deep bench right now) probably contributes greatly to this (I know it was a night game last night).
  22. The sox are 6-12 in their last 18 games where they have a chance to sweep an opponent (going back to May 1st, 2006)
  23. I think if Masset gets another spot start and performs well, he and Danks represent the final two nails in the Buehrle coffin... Unfortunately, since we'll hover around .500 for most of the season, we probably won't trade him and get value.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) I [heart] this thread
