QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) It that good or bad as far as North Korea goes? Is it going to be more of the same with his succesor? I would have to go with the stock response that we'll just have to wait and see. You'd hope that a younger person would be more in touch with reality and the possibilities of the world outside of North Korea, but you never know exactly how brainwashed or how much of a megalomaniac he is.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Nobody pays more attention to Cox sweating than you Milkman. Nobody Touché. And this brings up a serious question. Does it actually sweat?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) I'd assume best actor, but he might argue he's supporting Danes to get away from Cranston/Hamm. Of course then he has to go up against Aaron Paul, which wouldn't be easy either. Winters...er...Lewis was amazing though, especially in the finale. I've been less than impressed with Hell on Wheels. I'm watching it because there's not much else out there, but I can't say it's very good. Just not enough interesting characters or plot to maintain any momentum from week to week. I'd heard good things about Hell On Wheels. Maybe I won't waste my time then. I'm not sure how the next Emmy's will work. Since season 4 of Breaking Bad came out right after the last Emmy's, I'm not sure if it will be up for consideration in the next one or if the first half of season 5 will be out early enough for the next ceremony and will leave season 4 in the lurch. If season 4 is considered for the next one, then Supporting Actor will be tough will Aaron Paul and very likely (IMO, definitely) Giancarlo Esposito. Damian Lewis will have a tough go of it no matter what.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) Very true. Especially because he went to bat for him multiple times with the media. But the point is still the same. How about the article about the guys who got screwed for being loyal? Maybe another one of the writers will pick it up. Perhaps somebody should email one or more of them to bring it up. And no love for the Cox sweat innuendo?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) I thought about Walker too, but at least got another job. Last I knew Cox was interviewing for minor league jobs. That's why I figured you left him out, but if he was one of Ozzie's guys, you would think he'd have brought him to Miami with him. Perhaps he's making Cox sweat? That sounds very dirty.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) I wonder how Jeff Cox feels about "remaining loyal" right now? Can we look forward to a Jay Cowardly article on that? Good call. You could say Walker, too.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) I wonder what the Ole Hawkeroo's impression is of all this stuff? I'm sure his opinion is exactly what the Sox organization/JR thinks.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 04:55 AM) Scrolled all the way down to avoid HOMELAND talk until I watch finale later. Just wanted to say: -A nice cliffhanger doesn't make up for a boring, lame, and lackluster season finale of Dexter. -Survivor does it again. Pulls me in with a decent season and than awards the money to a less deserving player. Not a fan but Coach ran the show pretty much the way Boston Rob did last year. He should of won IMO. There was no Homeland talk until you mentioned it, I believe And agreed on the cliffhanger stuff. Many shows seem to think that a cliffhanger is great writing, but it's incredibly lame and unoriginal. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) However, it was brilliantly acted (Damien Lewis had better win an Emmy, but then again, so should Claire Danes). Since I haven't watched the show yet (I plan to do so right before the second season starts, ditto for Hell On Wheels), I have to wonder what type of role he has. Would it be for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, or Guest Appearance on a Drama?

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 07:25 AM) Every once in a while I get surprised. Somehow I had forgotten the scene when they are diving on the scuttled boat and the head pops out the hold. I screamed like the little girl I am. That scene is definitely up there. I'd be lying if I said it didn't get me jumping after many viewings. The other part I love is the famous "you're gonna need a bigger boat" scene because I'm sitting there in anticipation waiting for the shark to pop up, but I can never seem to get the timing exactly right.

Yes, I'm excited that it seems to be winding down.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) *swish* No offense, but this entire season has been incredibly predictable. It's almost as if the show is written by very unoriginal fans of the early Dexter seasons.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) I'm guessing you didn't read through the whole thread. It's been established that the most damaging quote/s in the story didn't come from Danks OR Peavy, but, with a journalistic sleight of hand that painted both with the brush of a conspiracy which has since been debunked. Ozzie was "letting them all sweat," the coaching staff, so if you were one of his coaches, and had been a part of the White Sox organization much longer than Ozzie, wouldn't you be a little concerned about your future as well? If anything Ozzie sealing himself off from the contract negotiations of the rest of the coaches only exacerbated the negative environment that festered. It's like he was leaving the Titanic, but telling his coaching staff to go down with the ship as he was paddling away for his Florida jackpot. Great analogy.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) Vaclav Havel - Died today at 75 years old. One of the true courageous and selfless men of our lifetime. While we are at it, heard yesterday that Cesaria Evora died at 70 years old. Won her first and only grammy award late in life. Good chance if you ever heard one of her songs, you wanted to know who it was, where she was from, and where you could find more of her music. Sad weekend for me. Now that is sad. It'll probably get glossed over due to Kim Jong-il.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) We keep saying that about every move. That's how I feel. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) I dont see this. Latos', Gio's, Jurrjens' controlled status only reduces Danks' value. Danks is a rental and that's a huge problem in terms of return. Agreed. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Dexter finale thoughts? At least they did something interesting this season. The problem I see is that Dexter can pretty much just say that he walked in on Colin Hanks (I've seriously already forgotten his name on the show) and decided to kill him himself. He'd only have to hide the kill tools. But at least they delivered on the promise to give us something that will change the show.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) Dont get me wrong, I am extremely excited for this movie, but I could only wonder where this movie would have gone if Heath Ledger were still alive. i wonder if Nolan ever reveals what his plan was Was he even going to use the Joker again? People thought he was going to reuse Two Face, but he shot that down.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) at this point all the shooting for the film is done, and probably a lot of the post-production as well. I don't think he's getting "bigger". That seems like a waste of time and energy. And I'm not even sure how you go about doing it unless it was your plan from square one and you shot ALL of their scenes with a motion capture green screen guy standing in as Bane - in which case why hire Tom Hardy in the first place? Nah, it's gonna be 5'9" Tom Hardy and with a few good camera angle tricks he'll look formidable - but that's it. He's not hulking out. But yeah... they could have gone with Lou Ferrigno I guess. I thought I made myself incredibly clear on this part, so I don't understand why you brought up this terrible point.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) I have watched the original Jaws about 25 times. Under the stars, at the beach, with waves lapping on shore, just awesome. For my money, still the scariest movie ever made.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Even so, I'm still not letting Williams off the hook. I don't care if all teams are offering are AAA players, those players better come here and -- if not immediately -- eventually produce. I want a trade this offseason where rival executives and opposing teams fans express shock at the amount given up for one of our players. None of this "fair for both teams" bulls***. And for those goofs who will say, "he can ask, but it doesn't mean he'll get it," I really don't care. We're not going to rebuild anytime time soon with one-for-one trades of closers for potential #3 starters. I basically agree. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Great post. It amazes me how so many want to shred the roster just to tag the team as officially "rebuilding." Shredding the roster will mean more than 10 years of horrible records on the southside. The team will be out of business by then. No good attendance figures at the Cell from this point on unless the team is good. Why do so many people just want young guys who suck on the field? At least with flavum's plan we COULD win. This team supposedly is built on pitching and home runs anyway. Don't forget that every Sox fan will get cancer, terrorists will blow up USCF, and the Sox finish with the worst record in baseball for the rest of eternity. You know, since we're going with the extreme worst-case scenario here. -

Balls. I'm starting to worry that we're going to get nothing for our pitchers. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Yes. My theory is that most are getting to the majors too quickly and either should have 1) developed more stamina and strength in the minors or 2) been injured in the minors and never made it to the majors. In the 50's, 60's and 70's there are always stories of guys who could throw in the upper 90's but never made it to the majors because they were injured in the minors. They didn't have the stamina to repeat their delivery for a season but would wash out. In today's game, these pitcher's are pushed ahead and break down in the majors when they shoudln't even has made it that far. We have this discussion among AT's all the time. Some say not enough throwing, some too much "pressure" throwing. There are many theories but one thing is for sure, today's pitcher's aren't as durable as they should be. Interesting stuff, thanks.
