  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Yes. My theory is that most are getting to the majors too quickly and either should have 1) developed more stamina and strength in the minors or 2) been injured in the minors and never made it to the majors. In the 50's, 60's and 70's there are always stories of guys who could throw in the upper 90's but never made it to the majors because they were injured in the minors. They didn't have the stamina to repeat their delivery for a season but would wash out. In today's game, these pitcher's are pushed ahead and break down in the majors when they shoudln't even has made it that far. We have this discussion among AT's all the time. Some say not enough throwing, some too much "pressure" throwing. There are many theories but one thing is for sure, today's pitcher's aren't as durable as they should be. Interesting stuff, thanks.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Tom Hardy is short in real life...I think he's like 5'9" -- they say he's taller than that, but I've seen him and trust me, he isn't. I think Bale is like 6' or so. Keep in mind that finding a "big strong muscular guy" is easy, but finding one that can act isn't. Through the magic of cinema, they will make Bane look quite formidable in this movie, trust me. Yes, by comic standards, he SHOULD be way taller/bigger than Batman, reality is, however, Tom Hardy isn't a big guy, but I'm sure Nolan through this through a bit and it'll turn out way better than you're expecting. I don't think I said I was expecting him to be that small when it's done. In fact, I said they have to make him look bigger
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) I just finished the 5th season of Dexter on DVD. Please tell me the six season gets better. The scene in the finale where Deb has Lumen and Dex trapped behind the plastic, doesn't nothing to secure the body of Jordan Chase, and on top of that gives them an hour to get away was awful. Plus Dexter letting Quinn off when he knows he is after him? Ugh. No.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) I did the same, lol Great minds...are sometimes also idiots.
  5. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) The guitar player "Cliffs of Dover" No, that was his dad, Eric.
  6. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Also known as people who will probably play in a different organization soon, or never set foot on an MLB diamond. Only half-kidding, so I made my post half-green. At first, I was reading every other word as its own sentence. It didn't make sense
  7. Does it seem to anyone else that pitchers are getting hurt with more regularity in the last few years?
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Well it'd be hard for him to spoil anything before the episode airing.. why can't you just stick to the spoiler rule? Then everything will be in spoilers. If someone read that something of a spoiling nature is going to happen and posted it before the episode aired, then THAT should be hidden. If someone hasn't seen the episode yet, they should avoid the thread instead of making everyone else bend to their will. And if you watched Dexter but missed Boardwalk Empire, yet you want to read others' opinions on Dexter, you're going to risk highlighting the wrong thing anyway if they're all in spoiler tags.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) You don't agree that he should be at least slightly bigger than a pretty muscular guy like Christian Bale? Tom Hardy in these pictures looks about the same size, if not smaller.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) Nolan also tends to prefer "stretching the boundaries of reality" versus outright breaking them. He doesn't want Bane to be the "comic sized Bane", but a more realistic/lifelike version of him. And that's what you'll get in this movie. Bane in the comics -- I'm sorry all you comic fans -- was retarded big and stupid looking. This Bane will come across as much more believable. People have questioned Nolan's decisions in every Batman movie he's made thus far...despite the fact that every Batman movie he's made thus far as been off the charts f***ing awesome. Stop questioning him. He knows what he's doing. You all who seem to be clamoring for retarded big comic book Bane...do not. Stow the condescension. I'm not talking about the guy being the hulk, but perhaps more of a steroid abusing guy, not an average muscular dude.
  11. QUOTE (Andrew @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) C'mon, Milky. There is no pitcher. Completely made up s***. Consider the source. As much as I dislike Cowley, I have to give him the small benefit of the doubt that he wouldn't COMPLETELY make up quotes.
  12. If Thornton is the pitcher in question, he should go slit his wrists. He's nothing if Cooper hadn't saved his career.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) If there is I havent seen it yet So, no. Probably not.
  14. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I'm okay with that... I like pre-White Sox winning WS tickets... Walk up to window, 30mins before game.. yes, I'll take section 132, row 25 please! Those were the days. The World Series was a huge blessing in every way but one, ticket prices. In that sense, it's been a curse.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) But did it even make money? That's what I mean, more. They released it about a year apart in a very similar release to the original. According to Wikipedia, it had a budget of $20 million and made over $24 million. Somewhat of a success, but yeah, they would've made a lot more if they waited a few years.
  16. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) I'm still confused on how the GM's moves are the fans fault. Does that mean I can take credit as well for the 05 WS win? My best guess is that the guy who created the thread was a supporter of Ozzie, and since the majority of fans supported KW, this is also partly their fault?
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 15, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) I was always confused as to why they remade that in general. It had a pretty wide release in US. I loved Let the right one in, but I"m not going to watch it twice. I heard they did change some things in the US version however. As Kyle said, it was obviously for the money. There were slight differences, but I mean very slight. The biggest difference I noticed was the girl being a little more meth-y (the way all zombies are now in films) when she killed the guy in the underground walkway in the American version. I thought the way they did it in the original was scarier.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) I miss the slightly chunky redheaded Lohan from the SNL Harry Potter sketch. I'm guessing everyone agrees. To be honest, I think most girls look better a little chunky.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) Fisher Stevens in the movie Hackers as the villain Plague. I knew the actor looked familiar, and I recognize him from Super Mario Brothers
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) I have a really hard time believing they go as dark as the original movie did. You kind of have to, but I'm hesitant to believe an American film could turn out like that. Kinda like how the original Let the Right One In was better than the American version, Let Me In. I only half paid attention to the American version, but how was it that much better? It was basically a shot-for-shot remake.
  21. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) I'm almost 100% certain that Milk is actually Stainer from She's Out of My League. I stole my line directly from Blazing Saddles and changed the name. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) When we come back maybe some Hall and Oates and other songs....wait, I guess just more Hall and Oates Although I do love some Hall & Oates.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) I steal lots of money by the penny too Now who?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) Yo. Is that Gene Hackman? What movie?
