  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) Blah blah blah. Enjoy your ivory tower bro. You can twist his words all you want to paint the guy in a bad light, he's twice the man you are. Let's not get personal here. Have a splendid evening.
  2. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) If the reports are true, thats nice of that damn Hypocrite. Maybe he kept his word to give the sox the last chance. I am happy Mark is going to an exciting contending team and being paid for it. Unlike what we have here. Where's your buddy Jim?
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) You should be, you couldnt even support your viewpoint with his quotes in your black and white world. Judgmental internet saints like you are generally very different in real life, I hope for your sake you are as saintly as you expect your pro athletes to be. Take it sleazy, Rock. I'm not wasting my time sifting through articles and looking for quotes to support a subjective argument. Anything I came up with would be overlooked or twisted anyway.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) In YOUR opinion based on YOUR interpretation of his statements. I interpret his statements as he wanted to stay with the Sox, close to his family, with the org he grew up with. The thought of him leaving was even making him contemplate retirement several times because he didnt want to face the uncertainty. Now as he faced free agency he was offer no contract by the White Sox, NONE. No other team close to home (Sl Louis) offered him s***. The Marlins came about, showed him love, showed him they cared and valued him and paid him well above market price. If you think thats hypocritical, then thats you. But I dont see it that way at all. I see a White Sox Organization that had a chance to extend and keep one of their most valuable players ever even before Free Agency and they told him to kick rocks and leave. Just like they've done in the past. Mark is one of the most stand up guys in major league baseball and he deserves every bit of what he just got. All that needs is a soundtrack by Sting and it'd be a great movie. I'm done on the subject.
  5. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) we all need to check ourselves a bit on the hypocrisy front. I am certain every person is a hypocrite at some point. right god? Ugh, also a bland statement that I've already addressed. Basically that most people are hypocrites, to be sure, but most people don't have a way to voice their hypocrisy to the world and those with that ability often try to keep their mouths shut. At least most players are up front about being all about the money, etc. I don't feel like explaining myself again. Go back and read it.
  6. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) ^ This. Is he saying that his wife might kill herself first?
  7. QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) So let me get this straight, he is suppose to forego 58 million dollars because a few years ago he said he wanted to spend more time with his family? Maybe his wife said Hey mark play for as long as you want, where else can you make 58 million. Do all you people donate your time to Occupy wall street? Its money, its america, he is a baseball player, I am certian he loves his family, I am certain his kids later in life when he is 50 will love the lifestyle he provides. I am certain his grandchildren will thank the heaven above that he put aside his hypocrisy for 58 million and signed down in florida as they rebuild that franchise with a manager he knows very well. I want to spend as much time with my family, but if Microsoft doubled my pay and said I need to work in london the next 4 years and my family blessed it, I gone. Despite the fact that I want to spend more time with my family. Situations only come to you once in awhile, if you don't bit they may never come again. Nobody reads the entire thread before posting. He can do all of those things, and it's good for him. That still doesn't stop him from being a hypocrite.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Trading Lillibridge would be incredibly stupid. Why? Trade anyone with value.
  9. QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) The problem is that it is not a fact. In your opinion. But you opinion is wrong. Sorry
  10. Does anyone not agree that greg and elrock are the same person at this point?
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) I agree with the sentiment you are expressing. This has been a very frustrating season and isn't done yet as far as disappointments. Apparently theSox feel Buerhle can't offer them a quality season or four anymore. Or Jerry is broke. If he is broke then he should save money by canning KW. I don't see the Sox addressing the real issues or problems with this team. All you hear and have now seen is dump salary. With MB and Juan Pierre gone and Vizquel and Castro and also Santos we have cut around $20M plus and keep high paid non-performers. It will take awhile to accept the direction the team is headed and hopefully by ST we can get positive again I don't even know how to make sense of this line. There's a big difference between feeling that he can give you one quality season or four. You don't sign someone you don't think will give you four quality seasons for four years if you don't think he's capable of it.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) hahaha touche. We can meet in the middle and say 11 1/2.
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) ^ | You stated that Ozzie had a hand in it, and then I proposed an opposing theory that it could have been all about money. Simple.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) This is infuriating. When will KW be fired. Mark picks Oz. What a joke of an organization. And where was Jerry to intervene in this one?? And express Paulie-like love for Mark? Cheapass owner. You are so clearly an Ozzie fan and an incidental White Sox follower. Please, just go away. I'm really honest with this. They bring you no joy and you sully everything you touch here.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) What a joke. Guess we know who Mark wanted to keep in the KW/Oz feud. Please, call me a f*****. Pretty pretty please with sugar on top. I will pay you to do it. Anything that would get you banned, I'd be willing to do.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) It's not immoral, and most people would do the same thing. I don't blame him whatsoever. It's just hypocritical of most of his previous comments during his times with the White Sox. Just disappointed personally, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. That's what people keep getting confused. I think they're just so damn quick to defend him about anything that they can't step back and realize that we're not attacking the man, but basically just stating a fact.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) yeah obviously they offered him a s*** ton of money, and if the marlins are the ones who offered him the most, then great. but EVEN SO, you can't completely discount Ozzie's influence. You know he went to the ownership and said he wanted Buerhle. You know he called Mark and said the same thing. You have no idea what went on behind the scenes so stop claiming to know it was all about the money. I'M just saying that there may be information we aren't privy to. Is that so unbelievable? Oh, so point to me where I said it was definitely only about money. I put a theory out there.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Kenny should have gotten moved to another job and Hahn or somebody else put in charge of this "rebuild." Sneaky feeling Sox will be a mess by opening day. A dozen fans on here will go to a ton of games supporting a "rebuild." Most fans in the city will snooze and The Cell could be a morgue attendance wise this summer n years to come. Yeah, those s***ty fake fans, supporting the team at their lowest!
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) @cst_Cowley: Guillen said Buehrle's family crying his last gm in Chicago, and he told them, 'Don't worry, we'll be back together again.'' I hate Cowley, but yeah obviously Guillen had nothing to do with any of this. Furthest thing from Mark's mind I'll bet. Wow, a Cowley quote. And that's supposed to shut people up. Terrible and funny.
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) lol yeah ok i forgot we live in a magical world of black and white where there can only be ONE reason and ONE reason alone for making any given decision. Thanks for the reminder. It's not possible that it was entirely about the money? And I'm the one in the fantasy world?
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) I'll miss you Mark. It's a shame you're going to retire in those godawful uniforms. I doubt it. He'll probably talk about it every year, and then sign another contract at the end of this one. The new Brett Favre
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) 11 remember tarp sliding? that was awesome. 12.
  23. Thanks, good luck, and I hope your team does terrible for the entire length of your (and Ozzie's) contract.
  24. QUOTE (Special K @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) Ozzy had to be a factor... They are good friends. Or it was the money, and nothing else.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) yeah well betcha he doesn't go to florida if Ozzie wasn't there. s*** happens. Things change. He never made any promises or guarantees, just said what he felt in the moment. If the Cardinals had come knocking guarantee he'd have gone there in a heartbeat, but they didn't so he had to do what was the best for him and his family. And if he felt the white sox weren't gonna match, or even try to keep him, then it was his prerogative to leave. I can't fault him for any of that. It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind. I can't argue that.
