  1. Ooh, the Cigarette Smoking Man. That's one I forgot about, but definitely would have made my list if it hadn't been so long ago that I watched the X-Files regularly.
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) The moment I saw , I stopped watching that show. And this was a looooooooong time ago. The show stopped being funny to me when Michael went from annoying to unbearably retarded. For most people, Steve Carell was the reason that they loved that show. For me, he was the reason I was driven away.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) "Well, sure, we could move Alex Rios, he's hit OK, but we lost our defensive replacement CF in the Rule 5 draft. So I guess we're going to have to hold onto Rios for another year." De Aza? Lillibridge? Absolutely anybody, as in that case, we'd likely be rebuilding anyway?
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) That makes sense, they obviously were bad people. I guess that when I made my list, I looked at it more as people that I rooted against in the movie/book as villains, not necesarily villanous people in general. I get your logic, as the center of the movie is a bad guy and everything. But if you're going strictly by the enemies of the main character, the villain would be the FBI or something
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) How was he a villain? I saw him on "villain" lists I googled, but I didn't vote for him because I don't think of him as a villain in the movie, he's friends with Henry Hill. I felt bad when he was killed, like the mob bosses were the villains. They're all bad people. Henry Hill could be on the list himself. On top of that, I don't know how anyone could describe him as anything but a villain. He was an uncontrollable, remorseless killer.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Not I. Apparently we're trading the only reason we've kept Jordan around this long anyway. Haha, that's been my exact stance for a while now. Awesome.
  7. Tommy DeVito, another one BigEd and I share.
  8. The Office hasn't been funny for years. And when it occasionally had moments of funniness, it was negated by the ridiculous plot that led to it.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) Jordan Danks will absolutely be selected. And who cares?
  10. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) If Danks is going to make $7M-$8M in 2012, why not just keep him. That will be less than Buehrle would make in 2012 if we signed him. Could see how the season goes and then trade Danks near the trading deadline (if we are out of it). Sale is the new lefty for Buehrle's spot in the rotation. Start the season with a rotation of Sale, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Peavy. Stewart as the insurance guy. We save money by not resigning Buehrle. And we probably trade Thornton and/or Quentin which offer more financial relief. And Peavy's contract comes off the book in 2013. We have a younger team with DeAza, Flowers, Viciedo, Morel in the mix. And this team can still compete in a weak AL Central. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for an offensive rebound for Rios and Dunn and Beckham. Ugh.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 10:30 AM) PRORumors PRO Rumors RT @SI_JonHeyman: #padres have hired omar minaya. Great scouting acumen, great guy, latin america expert, not a great GM. Clarified.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 08:26 AM) Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal A. Ramirez visit to #Angels was believed to be this week. #MLB How can he do that? He's under contract with the Sox! QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman hearing the #nationals are going to push for cj wilson. they want a lefty, and apparently thats their top target That's the perfect place for him to disappear from the face of the Earth after signing a huge deal.
  13. I've never read the books, but the Lord Of The Rings movies are awesome.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 05:40 AM) "There will be Blood" is one of my daughter's favorite films of all time. She must have seen it five or six times in the theater. Depending on the age of your daughter, that seems kind of odd.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) I am agreeing that it is more likely the tape is real, but as SS and I have said, editing the tapes is about as easy a thing as there is today. I'm not a fan of accuser supplied evidence in a format that is so easily altered. Not playing devil's advocate or anything like that. Accuser supplied evidence is always suspect. I hope they have some collaboration or it's basically hinges on this guys testimony and a tape he made talking to someone who benefits from the accused being locked up. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) You can't edit interruptions that well. And I know...I'm an editor.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 08:58 AM) Right. I'm talking everyday poor that also isn't a focus on the nobility of being poor in that condescending way. http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-reasons-mone...=feature_module
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) I'd say it would be less of an issue of 'deserves,' and much more about who would give us the best chance to win. With no Buerhle or Danks, (the mythical) healthy Peavy is probably our best pitcher. Gavin Floyd has been a better pitcher for this team. He'd deserve it.
  18. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) while kw's made his share of bad deals (particularly of late), i think it's unfair to make it out like he gets fleeced every time or is completely incapable of making a good deal. we wouldn't even be having this discussion if he hadn't pantsed texas a few years ago. Good post.
  19. Plus, f*** Jake Peavy. The guy can't stay healthy for us and has contributed far less than Floyd. If he or anyone else thinks he deserves an opening day start, they can blow me.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) I feel like we've derailed this thread, but I have to point out your math is impossible. If your 2011 tickets were $1414, and are now $974... and according to the flyer, which I also have, the $974 represents a 32% savings over 2011 individual tickets, again. right from the flyer... then that has to mean the total cost of your plan's individual tickets in 2011 was $1429 - only $15 more than the $1414 you paid. Do the math. One of your numbers, or one of the numbers the Sox published, has to be wrong. Anyway, base point remains, the Sox are very carefully and subtly trying to give the impression that people's tickets are going to 17 to 32%. And that is simple not the case. But I am also perfectly happy with my 2% decrease. Yes, definitely. I'm getting a headache reading the back and forth
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Wasn't it Antonio oSuna? Actually, yes. You're right. It makes sense that I never equated Pablo and Antonio possibly being related in my head. Perhaps the article meant to say that the guy is the nephew of Pablo Ozuna? That, or they made two mistakes.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) And Tex is the master of the slippery slope argument. +1
  23. QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Fun Fact: Just got a kitten recently and named it Gozer Like.
