And Dexter...oy. What hope they got out of me earlier in the season has completely been destroyed. It's basically a soap opera at this point. The part where Debra was explaining to her therapist all of the crazy s*** that's happened to her, I couldn't help but look at that scene as someone who had never seen Dexter before. And when I did, it just cemented how f***ing stupid and unbelievable the show has become. I don't think I can do another season of it.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I was torn by this. I think it would have made more sense for Shane to do it. He went all crazy and that could have been his "oh s***, i'm as bad as they are. Dale was right" moment. Instead Rick stole that just for what? To show he can make a tough decision? Eh. To show that Shane really isn't the badass he makes himself out to be. When it came down to it, the only guy who was fit to make the hard decisions was the guy leading the entire time. I think it puts everyone in their places and fits perfectly into what they were trying to make Rick the entire time. If you noticed, people were starting to lean more on Shane this season. His whole macho act was understandably fooling everyone. But when it came time to make the tough decision that a leader has to make, only Rick had the balls to step up.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) Agree that was a pretty good episode. Couple of gripes my wife and I talked about afterwards: What ever happened to the black guy and his son that Rick was supposed to talk to every morning? Are we supposed to forget about them? And why hasn't Rick revealed what the CDC guy told him? You'd think in a "are zombies capable of being saved or should we just shoot them all" debate, whatever he was told would be somewhat important. Seriously, how did no one suspect that ? I didn't hear that rumor even once, and it suddenly seems so obvious. They got us good. I'm utterly baffled by what the CDC guy must have told Rick. I assumed it was about Lori being pregnant, but Rick seemed genuinely surprised by that revelation (not so much about the relationship she had with Shane, though). I'm also not sure where they go from here. They obviously have to leave the farm eventually, but there really isn't much reason for it to happen now. I would assume that it is suddenly overrun by zombies, just like at the quarry. And I can't stress how cool it is that Rick finally stepped into the driver's seat in that final scene. He was too soft up until that point.

As boring as this season has been, that was one great "mid-season" finale for Walking Dead. There was closure, the scene between Shane and Dale was tense as could be, and Rick finally stepped up and showed that he has the balls to do what needs to be done to lead.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Motel 8 sucked. I was done with the movie in the opening scenes where the guy takes on a freight train in a pick up truck and it doesn't explode into a million pieces and the guy survives with some cuts. Having seen what a passenger train at 55ish mph does to a pick up truck, I could never get past it. Plus the monster looked ripped straight out of Alien. Haha, Super 8. The truck thing was something I thought was absurd as well, but I liked the monster and the movie over all.

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) I'm an idiot for taking that opinion into consideration. No, you seem to be an idiot right now because you still don't understand what I was saying. I said everyone agrees with you that they'd like to see them traded. I was disagreeing with your "I'm pretty sure it's not popular" statement preceding your view on Dunn and Rios. You know why? That's because it is popular. Should I keep explaining this? Or do you finally understand?

The longer I'm around, the less I care about the end of the world. Bring it on, I say.

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) Well sorry for not profiling all of you. I realize the rage is great for these two but their contracts are an albatross and it is not uncommon to read here, there, and everywhere that they are near impossible to move. So in that context being the cautious guy I am, I phrased it in the way that upset you. Hope you and yours had a nice Thanksgiving. What I was saying is that everybody agrees with you. We'd all like to rid ourselves of them and their contracts (barring a huge resurgence from Dunn). So, labeling it as possibly being unpopular around here was kind of stupid

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) I got peeved this year that no one made stuffing. That's not even Thanksgiving.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Nice post. Except most would say they fixed the biggest issue: Oz and Walker are gone. Really the only reason for hope is the new manager and new staff. That suddenly everybody will play well. Oops ... the new manager has been out of baseball a long time. Maybe since everybody thinks we'll suck, we'll be the surprise team. Other than that, there's really no reason for optimism. Only recently, you said that you'd stop bringing Ozzie into every thread you ruin. And yet you continue to do it. -
QUOTE (SI1020 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I don't say it's impossible for Dunn to bounce back but I don't see any reason whatsover to be confident that he will. My best hope is that he'll merely be lousy next year instead of mind numbing bad. Besides, baseball has turned a page from the smack em out steroid era, which included worship of one dimensionals like Adam Dunn. I'm pretty sure it's not popular, but I'd really like to see both he and Rios gone. Rios was a thoroughly unlikeable player and person last year who dogged it shamelessly. As for Dunn, I was willing to forgive him everything until he blew it with me when he couldn't even reach across the bag to snag a moderately difficult throw to first. Man you're having possibly the worst year in the history of the game and you can extend yourself a little for the team in the field? Dunn, Rios and Peavy ruined what could and should have been a worthwhile year. I still cut Peavy a little slack because of his injury, but he needs to shut up and pitch. I can't believe people post without clearly ever reading anything from other posters on this board.

QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) I also like to add, Stop with the expansion talk.. Until you can get every stadium full every game.. no reason to have this talk. IMO there are too many teams now, which IMO water down the talent pool adding more teams waters it down even more. IMO, the talent pool on Soxtalk was already pretty good before you came around, troll. We didn't need to add you either.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 08:39 AM) Thanksgiving is usually my least favorite holiday BUT this year because there's a lot of good football, I'm actually excited for Thursday. And I got a lot of driving to do tomorrow, from Palatine to Skokie, Skokie to Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake back to Skokie, quite annoying. You're crazy. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and it's not even close. My whole family on my mom's side (and quite a few from my dad's side), which is a ton of people, always goes to my parents' house. That's only a few blocks from my place, and then I'll probably stop in at my girlfriend's family's house later in the day. Luckily, that is only a block from my parents.

I liked the most recent episode of SOA. I know Opie didn't deliver any kill shots, but I think they'll handle it correctly. It is way past the point where Clay will be allowed to live (but perhaps they'll pull a shocker and off Opie). Either way, they're not going to kill Clay off with two episodes left in the season, and I didn't expect them to do so.

The one episode of Decoded that was dedicated to him makes a pretty damn good case for who D.B. Cooper really was. Their best guess was an employee of an airline, but the guy died a while before it. I can't recall his name, but it made perfect sense.
-
I believe that Oswald did the shooting, but I think there was a larger game at play. It wasn't just him deciding that he was going to kill the president. He was put up to it. Ruby killing him, and then dying not too long after in prison sort of says something.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) I find this bonkers that people are so concerned about the pirates royals and rangers. Honestly who cares. Not I. And to be honest, they've had their run of quite a few years of unfettered spending on the draft. They all should have a quality farm moving forward by this point, so shut the f*** up and play those hands.

There are so many other worse words that start with "def-", and each time I see the thread on the front page I think it's one of them for a second.
