Penn State horror story
Milkman delivers replied to farmteam's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The sad thing is that this kid's name is probably readily available through an internet search. If people are bullying him at school for it, they're surely putting it on the internet. May they all burn in hell. -
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) I recognize that I am late to the parade but I finally have watched all four seasons, mainly based on friend's recommendations as well as all the talk on this board about how great it is. Now I am going back and reading all these posts because I want to keep reliving the show. I will have to disagree on one thing, Jesse is my favorite character and I want him to prevail in the end. Skyler is annoying and the whole IRS payback plot was stupid. Also I can't stand Walt. But a great show, probably one of the very few shows where every season gets better. That is pretty rare. And that's not to say that the first season wasn't good. Some shows get better because their first season or two weren't really that good. A key example I can think of immediately is Mad Men. Breaking Bad, however, started out awesome and never stopped.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) False equivalency. Its not like Verlander won the Hitter of the Year award. Yeah, but I think those two awards are the oldest traditional ones. The two main awards anybody cares about are Cy Young and MVP, and most view them as being for pitchers and hitters, respectively. They just need to change the rules slightly to make MVP only for hitters. Oh, and shut your face.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) jaysonst Jayson Stark Before Verlander, you know how many starting pitchers had gotten a 1st-place MVP vote in the 2000s? Exactly one (Johan in '06). That's crazy ESPNStatsInfo ESPN Stats & Info Justin Verlander is the 1st pitcher to win MVP since Dennis Eckersley in 1992 & the 1st SP to win since Roger Clemens in 1986. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Verlander won despite not being named at all on one ballot. Well, that's pretty cool.
-
I don't agree with this. While Verlander is probably the most worthy pitcher in a long time to deserve to be in the running, there is a reason that there is a Cy Young award. I want a hitter to get the Cy Young once.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) Those two times as a "training apparatus" at the School for Women of Ill Repute don't count. I would love to find an actual place like that

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) In the Mariana Trench. Ooh, I like it. So much eerier. I just stole my line from Beverly Hills Ninja.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) Either that or take on a Barry Zito type of deal. Then he'd say we should "simply" trade Zito.

I watched The Green Lantern last night. Felt like seeing a mindless action movie. It wasn't horrible, but it sure seemed like it was done in fast forward. That probably helped it to be much more bearable.

And I've gotten laid a couple of times, Kyle. And a few HJ's.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) What was the event you were thinking of? I had absolutely no idea whatsoever. On Futurama, Leela describes the moment Bender comes flying from space into their vicinity when they were searching for him as "by a wide margin, the least likely thing that has ever happened".

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) Pregamed with half a bag of franzia (no one else would slap the bag with me, so I just finished it), 5 shots of vodka and whiskey, and 2 beers. Then had a rum and coke and 3 more shots at the bar, yeaaaa I was blacked out. Question. You're always very precise with exactly what, and how much of it, you drank. And you often say you blacked out. How can both of those be true?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) I disagree. Horrible Bosses felt that way to me. Also, The Other Guys had more LOL moments than I would have anticipated. I haven't seen Bridesmaids yet, but Horrible Bosses was hilarious from beginning to end to me. I think you might be the first person I've seen that has said otherwise.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) What was the answer to this? I was asking a question, looking for a good opinion of an answer. There isn't an answer out there that anybody knows.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Who cares if both fighters were gassed in the last 2 rounds. That is what happens when a fighter goes all out for a stoppage and the other guy survives. And even after they gassed, Shogun was nailing Henderson with some big shots and mounted Henderson 4 times. It was exciting. Pick out a better UFC match. Only bad thing about that fight was how the judges didnt give Henderson a 10-8 in the third and Shogun a 10-8 in the 5th. Instead of 48-47 it should have been 47-46. I'm not denying that it was an awesome fight. It was. I'm basically arguing semantics. I heard a few people last night saying that it is the best fight ever. I'm not a huge MMA fan, but I'm sure there had to be fights where it went 5 rounds with each fighter on top of his game, striking and countering, landing shots and breaking holds. I would think that a fight like that would be a "better" fight.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) I am not sure what we can get for them, but I think we should be actively shopping them I assure you that they are being shopped. The problem is that nobody will take them, unless the Sox were willing to eat about $20 million on the Rios contract and about $30 million on Dunn's.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) Conveniently when they were out of it. Thornton's a valuable set up man, but everyone thinks he's better than his results show him to be because of his 95-97 mph fastball. Marty, you've really become a black cloud. I'm usually one as well, but yours is as black as the inside of a coffin on a moonless night. Have a Coke and a smile.

QUOTE (TheHugeUnit @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) Here's a list of the Yankees top prospects... http://topprospectalert.com/2011/11/17/201...spect-rankings/ This guy is a bit too heavy on just looking at stats though. I actually go and see them play at SI, Scranton and Trenton. Thats SS, Triple-A and Double-A a lot so I know a bit more. My own list would be If you want to get a better look at who you should target... Montero - I'm sure you know about him. Banuelos - lefty, he's short and throws about mid 90s so he gets Johan comps a lot and he's small and basically a bulldog on the mound with really good control so he gets Maddux comps a lot. I would say both of those are best case but either way Banuelos is going to be at least a very good no 2 starter, could very well be a no 1. Short of an Ace though. Betances - Manny is short where Dellin is tall. Dellin throws fast and hard, but his control isn't too good, although it's gotten better as he decreaed his velo this year and started to pitch and not throw, when he throws he's like Daniel Cabrera, when he pitches... he's unhittable. I think he's like AJ Burnett, he could be very good or very bad. Sanchez - Basically like an upgraded Montero. He's got better power, better hitting abilities, better defense(which he still doesn't have great defense) and faster but still not fast haha. Williams - You could be looking at a top 20 prospect next year. This guy is a pure athlete, something the Yankees haven't had in their system for at least ten years. Very exciting player. Santana - If it wasn't for a brutal ankle injury, Santana would probably be a top 100 prospect right now. He's a true five tool player where that term gets thrown around a lot. This guy has a ton of potentional, just hope he can get back healthy. You're not going to get Banuelos or Montero for Thorton or Danks so don't even begin to think that. Williams and Santana are far away, in SS and GCL. So... yeah I seriously doubt Kenny Williams will center a deal around one of those and Mark Newman and Cashman are both extremely high on those two guys. Phelps, Warren and DJ Mitchell are three guys who are knocking on the door in Triple-A, they are nice arms and I think if a deal went down at least one of those three will be in the deal. Phelps just finished the year strong in AFL. Warren my favorite of the three could be a no 3 or 4 starter. Mitchell I would love to see as the long man out of our pen. I'm willing to bet my balls that Cashman wouldn't go after Thornton if the price was more than Romine. A guy I could see you going after is the Mexican Babe Ruth, Jorge Vazquez as a third or foruth piece in a deal. I don't know much about the minor leagues as a whole, let alone the Yankees' minor leagues, but it seems like the Yankees have a top 3 system with the way you've written about it.

QUOTE (Real @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 05:51 AM) I'm already wishing it was close to opening day. Not a huge NFL fan (i'm probably the only guy here that isn't right?), and no Bulls, and I haven't been able to watch hardly any Hawks games which sucks because they're f***ing awesome so far this year (sans a few games, FU Calgary..) Same here. I'm a pretty casual football fan. 16 Bears games a season, and I honestly still don't watch every one of them. I've never been a big Bears fan, and I think I've become disenchanted with the franchise. The more I watch them and the more I listen to the majority (not all) of fans, I realize they're way too much like the Cubs for me to care about them. -
QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Holy f***ing hell! Greatest fight in UFC history!! Shouldn't the "greatest fight in UFC history" not have almost three full rounds of both fighters being absolutely gassed?

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 02:28 AM) I'm guessing you're referring to my post that was about 'The Raid' from the Toronto Films Festival? That's it, thanks.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) The trade Dunn/Rios posts have to be in jest now, right? Right? No. If you notice the posters who say it, and are familiar at all with their posting histories, you'd know that they are deathly serious.
