  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) The trade Dunn/Rios posts have to be in jest now, right? Right? No. If you notice the posters who say it, and are familiar at all with their posting histories, you'd know that they are deathly serious.
  2. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) I thought Quade was a poor manager. I am thinking that Epstein will make some better moves than Hendry. They might lose some players but that money can be used to signed free agents. And the replacements could be better than Pena, Aramis, and Byrd. I hope that they are worse next year but I am thinking that they will probably improve a little bit. Jed Hoyer is the GM.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) I finally got around to seeing the most recent episode, and I also loved the American Gothic reference. They have to have some sort of end in mind, the story has to conclude with Dexter being caught, dying, or completely walking away. I'm sure they know how they want to end it, but I don't think they'll do it until they absolutely have to do it.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) That would mean it would go at least 9 seasons. Ugh. I know Showtime and Hall had some problems negotiating for these next two years. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the end. I like the show but hope it will be. They mentioned nothing about it being the final season. In fact, they went the opposite way by having the president (or something similar) of Showtime saying that the show is more popular than ever. I think that shows that they plan on running this thing, with the same tired storyline, over and over until people stop watching.
  5. What was that movie someone posted a few months back? It was from Hong Kong or something, about a raid on a den of mobsters.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) If that sets an end date and something to work towards, I am fine with it. I don't think that's the case.
  7. Dexter renewed for two new seasons. That is simply way too much.
  8. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) Not sure what that has to do with the cuBS? Anyways, Sveum seems like he will make a decent manager. He knows a little bit about cuBS since Milwaukee played against them a lot. Sadly, I think that the cuBS hit botton the last two years. But now they have a decent manager and GM. They are definitely going to bounce off their lows of the last two years. Have to hope that the Brewers, Pirates, Cardinals, and Reds keep getting better as well. lol. And Wrigley Field is still falling apart. Put some superglue on it. Ugh, I hate terrible nicknames.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) Trade Dunn and Rios
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) The last episode was fantastic. I think Season 2 has been better than season 1 at least so far. My only fear is I think it was a combination of the booze, Manny RIGHTFULLY calling him a little boy for being pushed to do the hit by his mother and friends (the deer speech Manny gave), and the fact that he actually cares for Nucky but not his current entourage. I hope they keep Manny around because that character is awesome, and Forsythe is perfect in the role. They need to use him more instead of every other episode. Watching the last episode, I couldn't help but realize how deep each character on this show is. It really is great.
  11. I am finally watching the most recent Boardwalk Empire. It's weird, kinda surreal, to watch Tom Aldredge play a dying character knowing that he's now gone and was dying at the time of the filming.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) In actual physical combat? Just aim for my knees. A tag team consisting of one guy with bad hips and another with bad knees? Yeah, I'm taking the other team.
  13. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) If this is about who would take who in a fight, I'm goin with Balta and Albert Belle. I mean just think what Belle would do with all the rocks that Balta collects for work? Plus, as I said in the Catch-All recently, never, ever, ever f*** with a geologist.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Still finishing the scoring. Sorry it's taking so long. I hope to be ready to start the lists either late tomorrow or Sunday. You're doing this as a good gesture. Take as long as you want, and no need to apologize.
  15. I've never heard of Duente Heath, and I thought Nathan Jones was a wrestler.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) I agree with you Balta, but don't forget we have a surplus in the OF including a large million dollar albatross non performer in CF we are keeping. Your ignorance just infuriates me. We're keeping him because we can't get rid of him, not because everyone is dumber than you and wants to keep him.
  17. Isn't Portland pretty affluent as well? If they're really interested in baseball there, then they'd be a slam dunk. The other team would have to be Nashville or somewhere in North or South Carolina, although I'd prefer Nashville much more.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I kind of like it, because I don't really use Twitter. He helps enable my laziness. Same here.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) The whole "Black Sox" connection makes baseball in Vegas very unlikely in our lifetimes. Ditto Pete Rose. Portland Or is wierd, because it's kinda small, but supposedly the interest in baseball in that area is through the roof. I thought I replied to this yesterday, but it must not have gone through. If an event that happened in 1919 is a main concern to not allow a franchise in a certain city, then I don't think there's much reason to worry about putting a team there.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) Actually it is a W sound. Swaym, if you will. That's the way everyone pronounced it out there, so I assumed they had it right. I guess it's like us with Pods. Most pronounced it Pod-sednik when it was supposedly Puh-sednik.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 07:30 AM) Not at all. To go along with Milk's comment, Halladay's numbers should have been better, just like the Phillies should have won the NL, but it doesn't always work out that way. Thank you. I love the usefulness of advanced stats, but honestly they go too far sometimes. I don't care if one pitcher has worse numbers because of a higher BABIP or something one season. I might take that guy over the long haul, but I'm taking the guy with the better luck for that same season, in retrospect at least (which is how the voting is done).
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 08:45 AM) I saw this. I don't know if its in bad taste or not. Over a century ago. I'm fine with making a joke about it.
