  1. That list: Skip Schumaker S. Schumaker Skip S. Jared Schumaker J.M. Schumaker
  2. In a sense, it was actually better to see them win ugly yesterday than if they rolled. It shows that the team is able to win even when they shouldn’t. The defense picked up the offense, and it’s likely to happen in the opposite direction at some point. The offense will clearly get better (barring injuries). Since the future HOFer David Carr, I believe.
  3. That one hurts. Clearly a great actor, but more importantly, he was reportedly a very kind and good person.
  4. Don’t worry, it’s Notre Dame. They’ll still get into the playoffs somehow.
  5. The crux of it revolves around trading him, about which we know your opinion.
  6. HOT! 13 replies Yikes, low bar.
  7. That’s pretty much how I see it, too.
  8. To be fair, this franchise has been mediocre to bad far more often than it has been good. And this season is clearly terrible. So the pessimistic/realist viewpoint has been, in my opinion, the correct take much more often.
  9. That’s the other thing about the eternal optimist posters. They will argue all day for months/years about a player (or manager, etc.). You can throw all the stats, player history, and personal observations at them. They will argue that it’s too early, you gotta give it time, the coaches/management know what they’re doing, etc. And when the player/manager is designated for assignment or cut or fired, they still won’t admit to being wrong. It’s always, “oh, so sue me for wanting a guy to do well and not just shitting on everything the organization does.” Anyone who’s been here for an extended amount of time has seen it a thousand times.
  10. I did know about the analytics department, but I thought it was both that and scouting in which they were very low or the lowest.
  11. Dylan Cease threw a complete game no-hitter less than two months ago. Stop with the fucking sad sack hyperbole.
  12. I know you were joking, but seriously how many scouts do they actually have now? It’s gotta be close to zero.
  13. These threads always remind me of a pattern I pointed out years ago. When a team is bad, there are two types of fans. One set attacks and ridicules the team. The other set attacks and ridicules the other type of fans. They’re both relieving the stress of rooting for a loser, but only one picks the right thing to be mad at.
  14. I feel sorry for guys that sign here. They have to be somewhat embarrassed on a professional level. The actual talent is signing everywhere else. They’re lowered to having to scrape the bottom of the barrel. They’re grabbing that last MLB contract before they’re out of baseball.
  15. This is where I’m at. I think most fans are.
  16. Jeanne Calment (122), but it’s argued that the daughter took over her identity and that she actually died long before that.
  17. They would have to go .500 the rest of the year just to tie the 2003 Tigers.
  18. Looks like we might have been better off losing that year by not hiring Getz, huh, JR?
