  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) From SI.com: Damn it, the Astros should trade us Oswalt anyway. They want to help us, don't they? They're not our friends if they don't.
  2. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I would guess the same, however, if Cincy is looking for SP and Minny is willing to part with Loshe to get Randa, I don't see where we are anywhere in the ballpark unless we deal BMac which would be........god damm stupid! Now if they were willing to take Adkins............. Well, let's look at it this way. First, Lohse sucks dog balls. He sucks out loud. Second, wouldn't they rather have prospects that will contribute a few years down the road, and have them for a good amount of time? They're not going to contend for years and years, so what's the point of getting Lohse (who sucks and will be gone by the time that they can contend).
  3. Oh, a day game. It looks like I'll be watching this one at work. Thank God for break rooms.
  4. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) If Randa is willing to accept a bench role I would be interested in acquiring him. The Sox do have starters to spare so if that is what Cincy is asking we can certainly meet that price. I don't really know if it's a bench role. He'd be the infield version of Carl Everett...there'd be plenty of PT.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) I sure can't say why they'd trade Oswalt, but I'd like to see what that damn article says. The only scenario I can think of is that Houston might want to do an Indians type purge .. start over from scratch type thing. That's probably what they want to do. That team is going nowhere fast. All their stars are old for the most part. Clemens won't be around long and that contract of his will make it pretty hard to get rid of him. A guy like Oswalt or Lidge would bring in a lot of good, young talent to rebuild with.
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Just spoke to my Cincy 'source', he says NO WAY Randa for Crede goes down. They have this Edwin Encarnacion kid they are in love with and grooming as their 3B of the future. He suspects Randa will be dealt by the deadline, but for starting pitching. FWIW. Well, we I don't want to do a Crede for Randa straight trade anymore. I'd like to have both, the more I think about it.
  7. How much do you think Billy Beane is going to want for a former Cy Young Award winner? Yes, it's been a few years since he won it, but he's going to use that to get more. For lack of a better term, Beane is going to get an ass-load of talent for Barry Zito.
  8. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) I just had to write this down Our Pitchers would be Buehrle Oswalt?? Garland Garcia Conteras Cotts Vizcaino Politte Marte Hermanson Lidge?? I'm sure Vizcaino will be gone long before Shingo. Damn it, I'm already managing a non-existant team. See what I mean?
  9. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Why would it drive you nuts? Thinking about it constantly, wondering if it's just a pipe dream. Hoping and hoping, get it?
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) I heard that there is an article on si.com that links Oswalt with the Sox. I don't know for sure as I couldn't find it, or couldn't access it because I'm not a premium member or whatever. If someone has access and can find it, I"d sure like to know what that article says. This can only be bad for me. Thinking of Oswalt on the Sox is going to drive me nuts, and I won't be able to think of much else. And to Southside Hitmen, how do you know the Twins are going after Burroughs?
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Interesting idea. This much I am quite sure of, the White Sox would not need to trade Joe Crede to get Joe Randa. Further, I'm sure Randa could play 1B better than both Michael Jordan and Stacey King. :rolly But, I don't think there's room on the roster. Well, the outfield is crowded as it is. We have backups at each OF position in Everett and Harris. In the infield, we have a backup for 2B and SS in Ozuna and Harris. The thing we lack is a credible backup for 3B and 1B, and Randa would fill that order beautifully (depending on his 1B ability). That leaves a certain player, who will remain nameless, expendable. With Randa and Crede, I'd say our team is set offensively and defensively.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Wow, Randa is showing some power this season. He just hit his 11th homer tonight. I just had an idea. Could Randa spell Konerko at 1B? Has he ever played there? What if we were to get Randa without giving up Crede somehow, and he could play every few days (sort of like Everett in LF/RF/DH) at 1B and 3B? And I just checked and he's played a grand total of 11 games at 1B...but his fielding percentage is 1.000
  13. Cotts is our best reliever? What ever happened to Politte? He's been great the entire year so far, let's not take credit away from him.
  14. On that list, I'd take Lidge and Randa. I'd also think about Bautista and Baez, depending on the price. Just to throw this out there, I saw an article that mentioned the Twins having an interest in Randa. That scares me a little bit.
  15. It's a shame, he was a true testament to the power of steroids.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Oh give Ozzie a break...Garland's going on Sunday against the Cubs, he had 101 pitches, Marte needed some work, the shutout was gone...it was the right move. Just to play devil's advocate. He's gonna watch Garland's pitch count to the point of pulling him with 100 pitches in a game where he's rolling, but he'll leave El Duque in with 110 pitches when he's getting into a jam?
  17. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Dude what the f***, so just because you guys are superstitious I cant hope for a sweep? It's not like I'm guaranteeing it. Do you want me to never say the Sox will win then? I'll do it just so you guys all dont b**** about it, but common. Whoa, going a little overboard there. I don't care if you delete it or not, just having a little fun.
  18. Milkman delivers is not so sure about this move, wonders if Ozzie has made the right choice.
  19. Even though you didn't ask for one, HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good day to be a Sox fan, real good day. (Can't use broom until it's official, Chimpy. Delete, delete, delete)
  20. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Without reading a word of this thread, here is my answer to the title: No, they are not. They've played awful teams, and they're still 4,052 games out. This is a hot streak that they stumbled upon, and there is no threat from Cleveland. Eh? Anyone still think they're for real after hitting a brick wall in the first real team they've faced? I'll worry about the Indians when they can beat some real teams and some teams from the Central.
  21. Have I ever mentioned that I hate Terrence Long?
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) I hope ozzie uses damaso for the 9th, he hasn't pitched much since he came back after the litte layoff, the times he's been out there his stuff has looked great hopefully he just needs to get out there to shake off some rust. It'd be a huge if we can get the Damaso of old back for the rest of this season. If Marte is in there for the 9th, they better have someone else warming just in case. When Marte sucks, he is the definition of suck and he'll make a lead go away just like that.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) All right Joey Joe joe! Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabbado?
  24. SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought he was gone for sure.
