  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) It's not worth having Contreras who will make something like $6 million next season, pitching in the bullpen. Use him as trade bait for a young first baseman, a good third baseman etc. Or just don't trade him at all?
  2. Gee, I wonder if Nevin cried to the ump and didn't get thrown out after striking out there?
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Twins will win this game.... you HAVE to score off of Mulholland in a tight game. The rest of the pen isn't going to give it to you. They used their pen a lot last night though. Nathan got roughed up, Rincon gave up the lead, and Romero got hurt today.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Minnesota losin too. Can you say 6.5 up? Tsk tsk tsk, Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  5. HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ump wanted to give Buehrle that one strike, but MB came right back and finished off the gem with a K.
  6. Career pick-off number 4,507 for Buehrle right there.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Pierzynski is really struggling. They mentioned he's a .294 career hitter, he's sitting at .250 right now. He's not taken a lot of criticism here but he needs to pick it up. Well, now he's just a dead pull hitter, whereas he used to shoot it to all fields. DP for Buehrle.
  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) How bad are we with RISP? It said AJ was near .400 with the bases loaded for his career. I kind of figured he'd fail there, though. Oh well, 6-run lead will hopefully be enough.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Konerko's OBP must be skyrocketting. He is 1 for 2 with 2 BB's tonight. A heaping helping of Frank Thomas'll do that for ya.
  10. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) The Twins just had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th, with nobody out and they did not score. Man, do they ever suck with the bases loaded. I just woke up after passing out after work. Good to see a game like this. This thread is kind of dead, though.
  11. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) I gained respect for Konerko for saying it. He knew Royce was going to be completely grilled in Arizona for what happened. Paulie stood up for the guy, he knows these things happened people has bad games or plays or stretches. There is no reason for Juan to be upset about what Konerko said, none at all, and I don't think he is. What did you think when Konerko said Uribe shouldn't have deked Derrek Lee?
  12. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) for him. But I am confident that he doesn't care. I will sleep well tonight! Would you lose respect for Konerko for saying it?
  13. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I don't think so. I think for the season and a half Uribe has been here he seems like a good guy with a good head on his shoulders. He doesn't seem like the vindictive, jealous, arrogant, small-minded type. And that is the type which would care about the comment made. Once again, you're not Uribe. You don't know how he feels about this. You just don't. We can say he feels one way, and you can say he feels another. Nobody can prove either way, but neither can say the other is wrong.
  14. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I happened to tune into this ripfest just before it started, and honestly, was not shocked to hear Buehlre receive heavy criticism for his radio interview. Why is it these analysts/sports personalities are more willing to criticize Buehlre for "breaking baseball codes" than Maddux was potentially doctoring a baseball? Sounds like ESPN once again resorts to preserving all things Cubdom. Reminds me of Carl Ravich and Harold Reynolds honestly believing Sosa corking his back was a mistake. These goofs are just not mentally prepared to admit a pitcher of Maddux's maginitude may have been throwing spitballs. Rome and his forum guests only seemed to support Maddux because it may "taint his career," and "EVERY team has a person who does it." Buehrle didn't even mention Maddux by name. He can deny alluding to Maddux as the spitballer or simply apologize. Either way, Cubdom is in an uproar now. Wait wait wait. Did Rome say that Buehrle was alluding to Maddux or just "someone" on the Cubs? Because if they jumped to the conclusion that it was Maddux, that makes me wonder if they already knew that he does that.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I'd say not. Do you really think Juan Uribe cares about what Paul Konerko said? Especially when it's right after the guy booted two key plays to help cost the D-Backs the game? It's a veteran on one team talking nice about a veteran on another team. That's it. The thing is that you don't know for sure, just as the rest of us don't. Unless your Juan Uribe, you can't prove anything.
  16. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) I can tell you this much, Uribe doesn't care about the comment. You saying something like that is just as dumb as us saying otherwise.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Who was that f***ing idiot in the forum segment? He says this is the start of the White Sox crumbling from the inside. The Twins are going to run past the White Sox now according to him. He also says Beuhrle is doing it to sell tickets for the upcoming series with the Cubs. Hello dumbass, the series has been sold out all year. f*** whoever that was. Edit: I only watched it because I was flipping through and saw that a segment on Beuhrle was coming up. Was it Todd Zeile? He always has that ass on there. There's always that guy from Elimidate and the red-haired guy from Sportscenter that tells people who to bet on in the NFL. They all suck.
  18. I didn't see it, but I can't imagine how anyone could make fun of Buehrle. All he does is win.
  19. When someone says, "_____ is the best at something," that means he is better than everyone else. I don't care if Konerko didn't say that word for word that that Clayton is better than Uribe, he said it. You don't say that someone is better than your teammate, you just keep your mouth shut. It doesn't even matter if it's true.
  20. I have one thing to say about Omar Vizquel: O-ver-ra-ted.
  21. Wow, two foul bunts. You also suck, Michael Tucker.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) We do... It's Timo... Ohhhh you mean "blows". Haha, nice. 2-2 on Moises Alou. Ha, that rhymes.
