  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Yes, more versatile. He can play left and first while konerko can just play first. That seems like two to one to me. Also, he is not slower than konerko. He hits for a higher average along with a higher ops ( career wise). Millar's career ops is 121 while konerko's is only 111. Millar we also be significantly cheaper than konerko. He's making $3.5 million this year, so he'll be getting around 5 million next year. I think we can do better with that money. He really is slow. True, not Konerko slow, but who really is?
  2. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) who the hell picked viz and why He took one for the team. His ERA is inflated. Other BS argument...
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Durazo would be number one by a large margain if he could play first base. Then it would be millar and snow. I like millar because he is pretty versatile which is always nice. Millar's versatile? He's just as slow as Konerko, but with much less pop in his bat. I've seen him play for two years now. Of course, he's a "team leader," too. He's a poor man's Pauly. He's definitely last on my list.
  4. To answer the title of this thread, I truly hope not. Konerko is the definition of a one-dimensional player. He can hit homeruns, period. Some team will pay him much more than we will because of that. He's not even worth the $8 million he's getting this year.
  5. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) A .689 winning% for a full season is 112 games. We will not win 112 games. I hadn't thought about it that way.
  6. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I agree with the team has to learn from its mistakes line, but my point i am trying to make is that you cant rag on one or 2 people for a loss....its the whole team....there is no thread about Uribe sucking at the plate, no one hit that rook today cept gooch.....its the whole teams fault not just crede or viz.... You can't rag on a guy for a loss, but you can rag on a guy for sucking the whole year.
  7. A team's gotta learn from its mistakes. If we keep saying, "it's only one loss, we can't keep this pace up, we're still in first," we might end up in the same position we were in last year.
  8. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Crede, yes. Vizcaino, not particulary. The mere fact that you said that if the Sox don't make the playoffs should cost KW his job is what had me :shakehead It's May 23, not Sept 23. The season hasn't even reached the 3rd month yet. Let's hold off the playoff talk until they actually get there. I thought it was common knowledge that KW is gone if he doesn't get to the playoffs this year?
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) No I don't. You like Crede and Viz?
  10. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) :headshake Do you not agree with me?
  11. I hope you're paying attention, KW. If you don't make the playoffs, you don't have a job. Today showed some big changes you have to make. Get rid of Crede. Get rid of Vizcaino.
  12. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) At least Minnesota lost tonight so we are still 5 games ahead I hate having to think like that. That's the exact type of thing we started saying last year right before the Twins came back.
  13. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) At least he pitched in a game we have no chance of winning. The problem is that he's allowed to pitch at all.
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Vizacino sucks so bad... I said yesterday that Ozzie would trot him out there the first chance he got. Unfortunately, I was right.
  15. I haven't been able to see this game today, and it looks like I should be thankful. Another Cy Young performance from a s*** bag AAA pitcher and Garland is going to get an undeserved loss. Crede and Uribe still sucking. Konerko and Dye back to the s***s. Am I right with this stuff?
  16. Wow, I think I did good for my first thread ever. Over 170 posts.
  17. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) I don't think I have ever heard Paul Konerko say he is the team leader of the White Sox and when you lead the team in homers, walks and rbi's, how are you not producing? He's about 10 points off the Mendoza line, that's how. And it doesn't matter that he doesn't refer to himself as the team leader (what player on any team says that?), it's understood that he is.
  18. Why the Sox should be #1 in Chicago: They are the better team!
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) No doubt in my mind that Baj is due for another chance. I think it's time for a Promote Jeff Bajenaru Club. You and I can be the Charter members...and we can disband the Promote Brian Anderson Club.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) If Konerko thinks a teammate did something "ethically" wrong, then he should talk to the teammate about it, not the press. True leaders don't hang teammates, especially ones with limited skills to communicate with the media, out to dry. That's a damn good argument. Good job.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) We have lots of people here who jump all over the media and call them liars, but in a blink of an eye, those same people take a few quotes as gospel and reach a conclusion that Paul Knoerko is a dolt, an idiot, and further should not be the voice of this franchise (not sure where that last part came from). He calls out his own teammates in the press, that's a reason to not be a team leader. He isn't producing, that's a reason to not be a team leader. There are other players on this team that are better-suited to be the team leader, that's another reason.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Maybe they're all laughing about it behind the scenes, who knows. Baseball player quotes shouldn't always be taken at face value ... witness all the locker room quotes after a pitcher drills an opposing hitter. I think you're really reaching here, but I understand what you're saying. It could be a joke, but it isn't. Konerko is an idiot and shouldn't be the voice of this franchise. Honestly, it should be AJP. He is the personification of what this team and fans believe in. Working hard, gutting it out, sticking up for your teammates, and having some fun.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ May 23, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) Just to stir this pot, any chance Konerko's comments were made tongue in cheek and this board is overreacting? Since this isn't the first time PK has called out a teammate, then I don't think we're overreacting at all. And about there being an unwritten rule, if one actually exists, it gets broken a hell of a lot.
  24. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 23, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Read only part of the thread but Uribe's play was a baseball play and Konerko should either shut his mouth or take it to kangaroo court and keep it private. Konerko is overplaying his hand here. It wasn't a dirty play and he shouldn't be trying to cause trouble with his tenuous hold on a roster spot beyond 05. It's not tenuous, he's all but gone. No way we pay him what he's going to want. He's not even worth the 8 mil we're giving him. I think we'll see Durazo, Huff, or a minor leaguer at 1B next year.
  25. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 23, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) It will be a feast of s*** spread across golden tables for their family & friends to consume! Nice, I honestly laughed out loud at that.
