Peavy ready for bounce back season
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) I can't believe people are dissecting this argument about 50's vs 00's. The main point seemed obvious - the idea that KW needs to make up for a bad DECADE is ridiculous on its face. His decade of baseball resulted in a championship and either 1 or 2 more division wins, depending on how you slice it up, no to mention only one season worse than 4 games under .500. He's had either the best decade for the Sox in 50-60 years, or 90 years. Take whichever you'd like. Point is, KW has had 2-3 bad seasons and some bad trades, not a bad decade. I believe Schueler was the GM in 2000, so you only have division titles in 2005 and 2008. Speaks a lot more to the legacy of mediocrity of the Sox. -
2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion

Unless Soler signs before Cespedes, he will get more than $20 million. -
That seems kind of long, right?

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) Ozzie was loud. What a leader! I like the Simpsons reference in your signature.

I'd sign in Cincinnati. I think they're poised to take that division.

Peavy ready for bounce back season

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) What's with all the blind child references? I am not wanting Mark because I am like a 12 year old with a crush on him. He was f***ing good last year. How many quality starts did he have? He also has a style of pitching I think is contagious for our other starters. I AM suggesting he will continue to EXCEL. How many years did Jamie Moyer kick ass? You guys are nuts if you think I got owned in that post. I want Mark for his future contributions not his past. Geez. I'd appreciate the few Greg fans out there to support me on owning him back with my post. Because you lack the basic baseball knowledge or human logic to do it yourself? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) All those good responses to my post and then this? Some of us think the White Sox owner has a ton of money and if he ever sells the team will make a zillion dollar profit as well. So yes I wanted him to fork over some money to pay Mark. Cheers to the fans who toast the team with their 10 dollar beers. Because that has nothing to do with your initial post. You said that it baffles you why Peavy was kept and Buehrle was allowed to walk. It has been explained to you over and over again why that is the case, and it was done again in this thread. Then you changed the point to be that you don't understand why people care about Reinsdorf's money. And then when it was pointed out that nobody cares about his money but that it is understood why he would make those decisions, you respond with the above drivel. I honestly do believe that you're somewhat slow. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Caught Ides of March and Planet of the Apes this weekend. Same review for both - well done, entertaining, but ultimately the ending was unsatisfying. Solid "B." Mind if I ask what you found unsatisfying about the end of Planet of the Apes?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) I am not the only Sox fan outraged that Mark is gone. You guys sometimes fail to realize some people actually do agree with me on some of these issues. This has nothing to do with anything, greg. God f***ing damn it, are you really this thick? -
QUOTE (Andrew @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) I'll say it - If Konerko's "skills" as a captain are what will make or break Robin as manager, he's in deep s***. +1

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 6, 2012 -> 06:43 AM) Was hoping for Super Bowl spot. Guess the studio wisely understood that the movie is going to make fat a## bank no matter what. And maybe with the whole terrorist attack at a football stadium, the NFL preferred not to air that during the Super Bowl.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 11:14 PM) I think you guys overvalue money that is not yours. I realize Mark was a free agent. He's a free agent that should have been signed IMO. Poor, poor Jerry. Can't sign a White Sox legend like Mark Buehrle who would have been the 1-2 punch with Peavy the team needs on the mound in trying to beat out Detroit for the division title. He also would have continued to be a nice tutor of Sale. I'm glad an internet message board doesn't frustrate me to the point I'd ever print what you did. You said "]Jesus f***ing christ. You are f***ing ridiculous, you must be smarter than this, I can only hope for your sake." WTF? You need anger management? Just because I don't care about Jerry Reinsdorf's money doesn't mean I don't understand why he does what he does. Talking to you is honestly like talking to a child. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) Should be interesting season having Peavy ready to go from the get-go. It baffles me the Sox would have Mr. Moneybags on the team and let Buehrle go. Peavy's finally ready, now we have no Buehrle to fulfill the long-coveted 1-2 all-star punch. Sale better be good or this team is in a world of hurt starting pitching wise. If Peavy is Verlander this year and Sale is lights out to go with above average Danks and Floyd, we could have a chance at a top five starting rotation in the AL. With veterans Konerko, Dunn, AJ, Lexi and Rios we have some guys who might be extra motivated to go with the younger position players. One thing is for sure. This team is NOT REBUILDING just because Tank and DeAza and Morel and Beckham will be playing. That does not constitute rebuilding with all the veterans we have. WE NEED PEAVY. It has been explained to you 600 times. If it still baffles you, then you're purposely being obtuse. -
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) Gordon Beckham's bat too. I would imagine that Beckham's bat would like him to stay.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) And no. What if he wins another Super Bowl? That'd be 3-3, with Manning taking two of them in head-to-head games. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) That was a clear as day pass interference on the Pats and no whistle. They were doing it all game. I was convinced that the game was going to end on a missed FG by the Giants. I'll never get tired of watching the Patriots lose in the Super Bowl. -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) This I couldn't care less about the commercials, pre gamr hoopla or the s***ty half-time show, just let me watch the damn game and cut all the other crap out...people who care about the ads are corporate sheep. Giants 31 Pats 28 Don't enjoy commercials the only time of the year that they're bearable, or else you're a corporate sheep. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 5, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) It was said that he was a former fighter so he had experience in the past in bigger fights outside of the parking lot stuff. Not to mention, it is a movie. Next thing you know you will tell me animals don't really sing and dance. Yes, I watched the movie and paid attention. I don't think you're listening to me. I said it would have been better if they just left Angle's character out of it entirely. A teacher with past fighting experience winning a professional MMA tournament is a good enough, semi-believable story by itself. What I'm saying is that they took it a little too far by having him ALSO give the first career loss to a guy they earlier described as the greatest fighter of all time (or something like that). Between that and the actual matches, the lack of believability brought it down a notch for me.
