QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Finally got around to seeing Fincher's version of Dragon Tattoo. I actually like it better than the Swedish version. Look forward to the other two. Is he doing them all? Read the synopsis I posted from Cracked.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 12:46 AM) Best thing I've read so far from Beckham... Took him the entirety of a season to figure that out, huh?
-
QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) The Sox have to much class to say anything, wish more fans did. So you want people to lay off of him for being the worst player ever in his first season with us because of something we had no idea even happened (and still don't)? Get off your high horse and shut up.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) And suddenly you're the Perry Mason of soxtalk. Full of s***, Milk. OK

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 07:36 AM) So you just decided to come into the thread to uphold the scales of justice then, right? GMAFB. This is a friend of Scenario's. What is the point of you coming in to stick up for this fool that shot his friend's dog? Because the guy might be in the right.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 05:41 AM) Come on, the man just died let the body cool before making accusations like that ;-) For a second, I actually thought Ned Beatty died.

Rozner: Guillen quit on Sox long ago

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) If you blame the players, then how can you give the manager any credit for winning the World Series? I thought it was all on the players. If he blames the players, he should give them credit for winning. And if he gives them credit for winning, then he should give the most credit to KW. Isn't that the logical solution? -
My friend told me that she met Joe Paterno. According to her, she lived near Paterno but only met him once and he appeared drunk at the time. Their pet gerbil was apparently attacked viciously by him on his property. The husband says he came out of his house searching for the rodent when he heard a pop and ran towards it. He then saw the frightened animal running towards him with Paterno in tow with a BB gun, at which point Joe Paterno fired another pellet into the husband's general vicinity. He promptly hurried the gerbil to the veterinarian. My neighbor then confronted St. Joe Pa to question whether or not he had shot the animal. He responded "yes" and immediately bit the head off of a canary, presented a sinister smile, and delivered a pre-teen boy to the lair of Jerry Sandusky. I can't vouch for any of this, though. It's just what she said happened. But I'll tell you one thing. I fully believe it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) What? Give me a break. You're comparing a high-profile case about potential child rape to a local story about a dog being shot by a drunken hillrod and expecting the same amount of evidence gathering. What kind of evidence gathering would you suggest we collect before it is safe in your opinion to commentate (which by the way, I find f***ing ironic as hell since that sure as hell doesn't hold you back from commenting or speculating on any other matter)? You can commentate all you want. The guy was a drunken hillrod who probably also ate the dogs and butt raped men resembling Ned Beatty whenever the chance presented itself.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) The Grand Jury report is just the Prosecution's most favorable case being presented. It is the same situation as you hearing one party's side of the story. In both cases, they can present only the most favorable evidence available. And to even have a Grand Jury, there needs to be evidence gathering in the first place. With this, we got a woman saying "this is what happened even though I didn't see it". Are we done here yet?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Meh, Ozzie put himself in this position. He had Kenny build him that 2010 team the way he wanted and it didn't work out but he kept looking for excuses. JR chose the guy whose family hasn't tarnished the Sox name in the media countless times in the past few years. If you don't think Ozzie was playing Rios ahead of guys like Viciedo just in spite of KW, then you obviously don't know the Guillen family. I am no KW apologetic, but this s*** is Ozzie's s***. Yes sir. -
Ventura "Thornton the leader to close"
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) This, if he is successful, increases his trade value. They could get rid of him now but the return probably does not help the Sox in the short or long term except for JRs wallet. If he can close it could change that. Yes, and the same thing can also be true of Crain. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 07:34 AM) No, there really isn't. In both cases there was basically one side presented. And mind you, the paper tried to give the asshole a chance to speak and he had no comment. Again, it's not like we are going to get much more coverage of this event, so "waiting for the facts to come out" basically precludes any discussion on the incident. Hey, whatever you say. I'm going with a Grand Jury report being on a slightly different level than The Mayberry Times and the report of one side of an incident. You can think whatever you'd like.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 07:28 AM) all of that, and "gays are coming for your kids!" ads, too! what a deal. I dunno, seems worth it to me, all things considered.

Peavy ready for bounce back season

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) The extraneous "so to speak" bothers me. CSN Chicago surely has a copy editor look over these things, so to speak. Would you prefer he say "mighty" Yankees? QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) Fixed Haha. -
2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) If you don't count Dunn, why would you count Peavy? Could KW predict Peavy would have an injury that noone else in baseball has ever come back from? Well, you can count on him having injuries, perhaps not that exact one. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) At the beginning of this "lengthy" investigation, very little of the actual body of facts was known. It was not dissimilar from this. The first we heard of the PSU thing there was a Grand Jury report. In this instance, you have a small town paper covering a story after they talked with exactly two people. There is quite a bit of difference.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) It just seems like you are doing the exact opposite of what you did with the Penn State thing, just as SSK mentioned... With the PSU thing, there had already been a lengthy investigation. With this, nothing.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Are you honestly doing this on purpose? Yes? I seriously don't want to take one side of a story and believe it blindly.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) To the stable of idiot Ozzie supporters this will mean nothing since it wasn't written by Cowley though. Exactly. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:08 AM) I would like to state that myself and Milkman were the first to post on this site, sometime around May 2011, that Ozzie was not trying to win anymore. We were called idiots for a month or two. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) You guys were, are, and will continue to be called idiots for far larger reasons than that... QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:15 AM) wait, why is this different from other months? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:19 AM) Even a blind squirrel.... Yeah yeah yeah -

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 08:26 AM) A long high-pitched wail was just heard coming from Kansas. Ha! -
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) Real inspiring stuff. This guy had a chance to come out an address the worst season in history for the money he was paid and he casually talks about how he's hit a little and hasn't lost weight and he's fine and whatever.... Enjoy the boos Donkey. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:59 AM) Honestly, the articles on Dunn's off-season are not giving me much faith in him having a major rebound. Hasn't gotten in better shape, hasn't swung the bat much, and hasn't watched any tape of his terrible 2011 to determine if there are mechanical flaws that need correcting. If I were Dunn, I would have spent the entire off-season trying figure what caused my problems in 2011 and done anything in my power correcting them. Sounds like the off-season getting over his embarrassment. Seriously, these.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Usually it means "I'm sick of arguing with you" That's what it originally meant. But recently (and I don't mean Joe with my next statement, I'm being very general) it's mostly been used by dumb people that want to sound smarter. To them, it looks better to someone witnessing the debate to pretend like it's futile to continue when in reality it's just admitting defeat without actually admitting it.

Anyone care to explain what exactly he has done that makes him a tool? Not sarcastic, I'd like to know.
