QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Why would we trade for a player thats needs to FIND his stuff again, when the guy we are trading FOUND it last season Jabroni? Vazquez's "Bad" 05 year wasn't that bad. 8.01 K/9 4.17 K/BB .266 BAA (.759 OPS) 1.25 WHIP Compared to Garland's "Good" 05 year. 4.68 K/9 2.45 K/BB .255 BAA (.694 OPS) 1.17 WHIP I think that if you put Chicago's Defense behind Vazquez, you will see an improvement in his #s.

This makes sense and I would like to see Chicago trade Garland for Vazquez + either prospect or some money. The nice thing is Kenny has all the leverage in these negotiations since the White Sox are still in a good position if they don't make the deal. The Diamondbacks have to trade Vazquez. Obviously, I wouldn't trade Contreras, but this is a perfect time to trade Garland. He is coming off a Career Year and will be a FA in 07. Vazquez's peripherals are head and shoulders above Garlands. The main problem Vazquez has had is the # of HRs he gives up, the same problem Garland alwalys had.

I'd like to lock him up to a 3 year extension. I'd be willing to pay upwards to 9 mil a year. At worst, Garland is league average. A glance at the market tells you that old, league average pitchers are going for 7 mil a year right now (see Loiaza & Byrd). I'm willing to take a risk on Garland that his 05 production is a sign of things to come and give him that much money. If he does revert to his old form, he will still be putting up league average #s and he will still be paid fair market value.

QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) They have now dumped catcher Paul Lo Duca to the Mets for prospects....I guess if u want anyone from Florida, just give up crap...Hey have Kenny try for Dontrelle for like idk...Borchard? I don't know. I like what they got in exchange for Beckett, Delgado & Lo Duca. I think the Castillo trade is the only move where they didn't get as much as they could have.

I voted for Hermanson. In this market of closers going for so much, I think teams that lost out would be willing to give up something for someone who had 34 saves and a 2.04 ERA.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) I thought it was strange to see him on the field with all the Latino players before that WS game...dude...weren't you born in NYC?!?...then he's gonna go play for who at the World Games (or whatever the hell it's called). Atleast he showed up, unlike Manny or Vlad. Players as talented as Bonds and A-Rod, who play both sides of the ball hard...I'm willing to put up with any of their s***. A Rod just seems like a guy everyone hates, not because of anything he really did explicitly but because he comes off as fake. That might be true, and if I had to be friends with him...I wouldn't like him...but as a baseball player I think he is a joy to watch. I just think I'm lucky to get to sit down and watch Bonds & ARod play. I'm sure in 50-80 yrs, people will wish they could have done the same (just as we do with Ruth & Williams).

Johana Santana shoudl have won his 2nd straight Cy Young. He led the league in WHIP, Hits/9 ip, K/9, strikeouts & adjusted ERA + He was 2nd in ERA, innings, shutouts & K/bb.

Will Bush Invite the Team to the White House?
SHAFTR replied to SouthSidePride05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wonder where the political affiliation of the White Sox roster would be? Left, Slight Left, Moderate, Slight Right or Right. -
In a way, Kenny did take a moneyball approach. The main gist of the Moneyball philosophy is going after players who have a skill that is undervalued in the market. With Beane's As, it as OBP. With Kenny's White Sox, it was run prevention (defense, pitching).

One of the buses has a sign that says "Lee" on it. What Lee is on the team?
-
No way. Everett was a below league average hitter. Not exactly what you want as your DH.

For out of towners, will this be broadcast on WGN?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) I know the History Channel put out a multidisc set on the Red Sox last year that goes for like $129.99 Whether they do that for the White Sox remains to be seen. I really hope so. Maybe we should get a petition started.

Is it the most diverse team in the country? If not, which team has the most countries represented?

I studied Film/TV in college (more film than tv) and we looked into the Nielsen ratings. THey are actually fairly inaccurate. The sample sizes are relatively small and there are problems about how the data is quantified along with how much of what television is on has people watching it. (I'm not sure the effect TiVo has on all of this). Anyways, television advertising is a pretty incredible thing. Millions of dollars is put into television commercials which have never really been proven to work in to timeslots and programs that the data on is questionable.

The twins have a great organization, one that I respect a lot. If they weren't our rivals, I'd probably be a fan.

With how well he has been hitting, do you bat Crede 5th?

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) you'll only be ABLE to get upper reserved edit: sorry i made it sound as if it's likely to get tickets... i should rephrase. IF you get tickets they'll be upper reserved. no question. Why is that?

Couple of questions.. Which section has the most seats (Bleachers, Upper Deck Box or Lower Deck Box)? If I'm already paying $140, is it worth paying $45 more for Lower Deck Box?

I'll be doing this on a laptop, so I won't have a printer on me. If I buy the tickets to Print at Home, do I have to print them out right then or does it send me an email with a link, so I can print it out at a friend's house or something later? Any help would be great.
