QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) I'm not a real big proponent of closers getting the CY unless they've been otherworldly. I agree. It's kind of like rewarding a really good pinch hitter. Someone who performs very well in high pressure situations but isn't playing the rest of the game.

If Borchard could learn better Plate Discipline, he'd probably be a fine Dunn-like player. The problem is he doesn't, so he doesn't have a OBP that could make his batting average and strikeouts forgiveable.

I actually think the Gerut/Lawton deal benefits Pittsburgh. If you look at the #s, Lawton isn't that much better than Gerut. After that, look at the ages and salaries of each player.

I can't think of a better way for the streak to end.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Byrnes rules. Grinder rule #1, get Byrnes. No way. I hate byrnes. He plays the game like an idiot and people confuse it as someone playing the game hard.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Mark Buehrle could care less about that streak and the fact that he did this before the 6th inning endears him to his teammates even more IMO. This kind of stuff brings a team closer together. I agree. I feel that what happened today is one of those defining moments of this team.

I voted. I'm a White Sox fan in Madison as well.

Part of me hopes they play the Yankees in the first round. That way my happiness/anger (depending on the result) can be amplified.

I went to Spring Training this year and I have a ball autographed by: Marte, Garland, El Duque & Garcia.

Timo proves that old adage: Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
-
Does Timo get an RBI in this at bat? Yes or No?
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) He can? I'd have to see it to believe it first... 47 stolen bases in under 2 total season. Career 81% SB. That is very good.

QUOTE(IndySoxFan @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) ok.... now who do we hit? I hope Byrnes. I hate that guy.
-
QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) why is timo first pitch swinging? Timo is a like a bad Cory Patterson leading off.

Why would the Twins trade Silva?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) . 5.) Don't rule out an Overbay trade just yet, plus a trade for him in the offseason should not be ruled out. I'm ruling out a Trade for Overbay. It could happen in the offseason, but not before the Trade deadline. I can guarantee that.

Who is the most underrated player of all time?
SHAFTR replied to White Sox Josh's topic in The Diamond Club
Half the guys that have been mentioned are true legends. Guys that nearly everyone considers to be one of the greatest players of all time. I have one for you guys... Darrell Evans 3b, 1969 - 1989 Match his #s to Tony Perez and you'll see how underrated Evans is. His 162 game average .248 avg .361 obp .431 slug 25 HRs 82 RBIs Career OPS+ of 119 -
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) Haha, they are showing it right now. Timo and Everett creep me out sometimes. maybe they were acting out what those "imaginary" dinosaurs must have been like.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Damnit Carl damnit Since June 13 Everett: .235/.276/.449

Contreras, what a bum.

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in any of the numerous Overbay threads, but I'd be more than willing to go for this deal if the Sox could get Derrick Turnbow as part of it. He'd be a fantastic bullpen addition, almost to the same degree as Wagner, especially since Turnbow is younger and, in all likelyhood, more easily re-signeable. Why would they trade Turnbow? This is a team that will likely finish above .500 for the first time in like 13 years. Everyone agrees that this team is on its way to being playoff caliber. They aren't going to trade away their young, cheap talent.

If I'm not mistaken, Biggio has the 2nd most winshares of the 90s (behind Bonds).
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) 2002 was arguabley better. More HR's, RBIs, higher AVG, more SB, more Hits, more 2Bs, and less GIDP. I go with 04 b/c he had the best OBP & OPS of all time. His slug% that year was 4th all time.

Without Steroids, Bonds is still the 3rd best Leftfielder of all time. If he is on steroids, I question how much they actually do. Look at Giambi now without steroids, his #s the past month or so were the same as they were with steroids. Nothing has been proved about the effect steroids has on power. The only thing that has been proven is that it makes your body heal quicker. I'm not saying that steroids don't add power, I'm just saying I don't know for sure we can say that. Also, for my money, Bonds 04 was the greatest year by a hitter, ever.

The anti-borchard continues. 15 bb to 1 k.
