  1. I really wish I could figure out why for the much of the last 15-20 years this team has continually underachieved. I don't get it. This year is just another season in a pattern of squandered potential and it is pretty depressing.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Well, a little birdie yesterday told me that changes are coming tomorrow night/Wednesday morning. Beckham being demoted looks like a possibility. Any changes aside from Gordon possibly being sent down?
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 13, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) Completely agree. I'm stunned and speechless. LBJ is the best player in the league by a wide margin. While I do believe he's probably the best player in the NBA, it is not "by a wide margin" when you consider some other comparable star players. Kevin Durant? Kobe Bryant? Carmelo Anthony? You think he is better than those guys by a wide margin?
  4. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) As a Magic fan, obviously if the Bulls get Lebron they become an instant contender. If he goes to New York or the Clippers, it helps us naturally. I can't say though that after what happened with Lebron's lack of class after we knocked them out that a part of me is glad that this is happening to him. Karma is a wonderful thing. Do you think an addition of Wade or Bosh makes the Bulls instant contenders as well?
  5. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Yes. There's even rumors linking Calipari to Cleveland to replace Brown as a way of convincing Lebron to stay on with the Cavs after this season. Never thought I'd see Bulls fans rootin for Rajon Rondo also. I knew you would post something like that.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:22 PM) This. I think about it, and I hate the prospect of LeBrons attitude. But winning forgives all, and with Rose being 21, Noah being 25, and LeBron being 25, you'd have a 5 year window at least where you could absolutely dominate the league. Can you imagine how much more unbearable he would be with a few championships under his belt? It's pretty obvious that LeBron hopes to eclipse MJ one day, so it would be nice if he took a few cues from him. Michael didn't talk himself up in the media. He didn't do little jigs when was having a good game. He didn't go out of his way to disrespect his opponents. He put people in their place by straight up dominating them on the basketball court. QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) Kobe Bryant was a superior player at 25 than LeBron. so was MJ. Ah, I didn't realize you were comparing players past and present, or HOF caliber players at the same age. I thought you were trying to say that someone at or over the age of 30 is RIGHT NOW a better player than LeBron.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) I take that back. He's the best player under 30. Which player > or = to 30 are you referring to?
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Yes, there are others. I wouldn't dislike getting LeBron, but Wade is a better fit, IMO. James is a sore loser, a child and really obnoxious; he's also arguably the best player under 28 in this league. Someone made a comparison to Rodman signing with the Bulls and, really, I don't think it fits. Rodman was known to start s*** on the court and he was a freak in his free time. BUT, you had to respect the way he went about the game -- that was a big part of Chicago fans accepting him. LeBron is probably the best all around player in the NBA, but he can be such an immature b****.
  9. Does anyone posting in this thread not want LeBron on the Bulls? The guy is a showboating egomaniac. I would rather give it a shot with Bosh or Wade as they aren't so f***ing obnoxious. I wouldn't miss the inevitable, unending comparisons of Jordan-James either.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 11, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) Alex Rios is hitting .330 with a .966 OPS. He's a joy to watch. He is the antithesis of the typical White Sox player (in recent memory). Elite defender. Great instincts and technique on the basepaths. Power and plate discipline. To top it off, he is apparently coachable too. I'm so glad he is patrolling center field. If he keeps up this level of play, he will be well worth his contract.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) We should have seen this coming, as PK was the guy that some of the posters on here with inside sources were claiming was content after winning the WS and just going through the motions. Seriously? PK put these numbers up immediately following our World Series win: HR: 35 RBI: 113 AVG: .313 OBP: .381 SLG: .551 OPS: .932 That looks nothing like a guy going through the motions to me.
  12. 1. Game 2 of 2005 World Series 2. Game 163 from 2008 season 3. June 28, 2002 - Comeback against Cubs fueled by Konerko's 2 HR game That's all that really stands out in my mind right now, I've probably been to a few others when I was younger that will come back to me later.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) Exactly. That number is so insane that if he holds that throughout the season, no one could vote against him. If it rises in to the high 2's and Mark is in the low 3's, then we can talk. Outside of 15 games (5 vs. Cleveland, 4 vs. Baltimore and 6 vs. Oakland), the Royals face good to great lineups until the end of the season. Let's hope that Greinke has a tough time finishing out the year.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 07:54 PM) Greinke's ERA needs to go up. I checked earlier. It's at an insane 2.08 whereas his WHIP sits at 1.11 (a tick higher than Buehrle's).
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) Pretty much. Weaver to a much lesser extent. If Halladay gets traded to the NL it gets real interesting. It's gonna be tough to beat out Felix. I'm hoping Halladay goes to the Phillies/Mets/whoever because then Mark becomes top three material. He really has to pitch well in the last two months, though I believe the perfect game can help to offset a higher ERA. It would be nice to see him get a couple more complete games in as well. I think he has a good chance right now.
  16. Who do you all see as his main competition? Hernandez? Greinke? Halladay? Maybe Jered Weaver?
  17. As of right now: • Ranks 1st in AL in W (11) • Ranks 6th in AL in IP (134.1) • Ranks 7th in AL in ERA (3.28) • Ranks 4th in AL in WHIP (1.10) • Ranks 1st in AL in W% (.786) I'm thinking he needs 20 wins, which is very doable. I also think that he probably needs to get his ERA a bit lower - maybe around 3.00 or a bit under. It is probably pretty important that the Sox win the division again. If he does those things, I think he has a chance. The perfect game creates a lot of clout that he hasn't had up to this point in his career. People are being forced to recognize how great he is from season to season. Let me hear your opinions!
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 8, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) Good god, do some research on 1980's basketball. Before Pippen developed around 89-90, Jordan would have had to single-handedly beat the Bad Boys, the Bird-led Celtics AND the Showtime Lakers to win a title. Those are only three of the best teams EVER. Their second best player through that stretch was Charles Oakley, who may have averaged a double-double but also averaged about 14 points on a mid-40's shooting percentage and turned it over at a similar rate to Jordan. Zoom, I love it when you analyze. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) I'll buy Jordan pushed Scottie to be better, but the Bulls went to a conference final without Jordan and we all know how that went down. Scottie was at least a Hall of Famer on his own team. Hue Hollins can suck my balls. I honestly believe that the Bulls would have won that series if not for that momentum changing call. I also think they would have beaten Indiana in the conference final and had a legit shot to defeat Houston in the NBA finals as well. I feel that Scottie would get a lot more respect if things played out that way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for my poll vote, Michael gets it because he has accomplished something LeBron can never top: SPACE JAM
  19. TEAM USA! WOO! A big thank you goes out to the Puerto Rico bullpen.
  20. You know what the s***ty thing is about this...Danny Boyle is actually a great filmmaker, but this movie is totally undeserving of all the praise heaped on it.
  21. MOther f***er! WHAT A SURPRISE.
  22. /wishing he could Perfect Plex this waste of time away.
  23. I'm siding with Milkman on this. This ceremony was f***ing terrible. My girlfriend was required to see Milk for a school project and I went with her two nights back. It is bulls*** that Penn just won and that Brolin was even nominated. Rourke was robbed.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) He has a .361 minor league OBP, his numbers got continually better the last three seasons going through AAA, and he added power in 2008 (.448 SLG). His OPS of .814 in 2008 at AAA is awfully good for a 2B. Plus he has some speed, and is known as a smart player. He can also play multiple infield positions. He also has more walks than strikeouts for his minor league career. Wasn't he a September call up last year? I seem to remember him being on the roster at some point. Did he look that good against major league pitching?
  25. Why is everyone so high on Getz? (This is not a snide comment in the least -- I'm genuinely curious.)
