  1. Can ptatc or someone equally qualified comment on how likely it is for Bobby's elbow to explode? Many here seem to think this is unavoidable. I'm curious to know what would be required for this to happen.
  2. Sooo, I noticed that no one brought up the possible showdown over jersey #20 between Carlos and Jon. CQ seems like the most serious man on earth and Jon is a pretty passive guy. I wonder how the conversation about Jon getting his number back would go? I could totally see Carlos pulling any number of MK II fatalies. This one most closely resembles what I see happening:
  3. For the most part, it seems that people have been shrugging this off. Would everyone feel the same if this reporter had walked up to GW and spit in his face (a rough equivalent in our culture) ?
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Konerko's a comparative bargain, IF HEALTHY, which he had pledged to be by undertaking a rigorous offseason training and conditioning program for the first time in his career. Where did you hear of/see this? I wonder what a fit Paul Konerko could do. It would be great if he built up his strength, endurance and lost some of that flab through a conditioning program. Maybe we would be in store for another 40 HR/100+ RBI season from him?
  5. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) One last little "tweak" Incredibly weaksauce. Yet another 90's alternative music icon has been sucked into the "mystique" of the Cubs franchise. Eddie Vedder is terrible. The End.
  6. Any updates on Quentin's status? If healthy and assuming his timing isn't way off, he would be a huge boost to the team now that the possibility of the ALCS doesn't look so bleak.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) Division champs > Wild Card Hell yea. I have a lot of confidence in this team right now. If we can get through this first round, we would have homefield advantage into the World Series. GF has shown testicular fortitude all season long. I have faith that he is going to step up yet again. Some consistency from the offense and bullpen would be a great thing to see tomorrow. After these last two pitching performances, anybody want to argue that Danks isn't our ace?
  8. Can someone explain why we would have homefield advantage against the Red Sox if we were to face them in the ALCS?
  9. I thought the "A-J, A-J, A-J" chant going on while Pierzynski was in the on-deck circle the inning after the play at the plate was cool. Each time Mauer and Morneau were put out by the Sox, the crowd went nuts. I can't ignore the epic amount of boos coming from the fans when Alexei was walked. Watching a player like Alexei (who doesn't appear physically intimidating in the least) draw the intentional walk was great. I can hardly believe how good he is. The guy was thought to be a project of sorts in spring training. Flash forward to late September and he is one of the most fearsome hitters in our lineup. I ended up staying for probably almost 2 hours after the game both inside and outside the stadium. The celebration on the field was awesome, but the best part was about 10-15 minutes into it when the players came back out of the locker room onto the field. Nearly the whole team had champagne bottles and walked together to the outfield and sprayed the fans. F*cking awesome.
  10. I was at the game last night, and as many here have said - the atmosphere was incredible. Bobby was most definitely amped up. When Boom by P.O.D. hit in the stadium, everybody around me (and throughout the stadium) f*cking lost their minds. That said, I don't think him hitting 97 was a product of adrenaline. The dude can reach back when he wants to blow it past somebody like that, but I think he is just so confident in himself now that he simply ratchets it down a notch for better control. His 94/95 FB with crazy movement is a ridiculous pitch, and it's probably a more effective pitch overall than the 100 MPH straight heat. I honestly cannot fathom why people want to dump him. The big man has not progressively lost his heater. Bobby's elbow hasn't given any indication that it is about to explode. For the vast majority of his Sox tenure, he has been extremely reliable. At times (including last night), he is absolutely dominating. So to everybody who wants to dump the anchor of our bullpen, I am incredibly thankful that you are fans and not a member of Chicago White Sox management.
  11. What is with the ridiculous start time? Many baseball fans are going to miss the playoff games broadcast during their work or school day. I don't have to work tomorrow, but I do have class and will likely miss most of the game. I'm guessing this is due to MLB saving their most "attractive" matchups for primetime. Weaksauce nonetheless.
  12. Hey all, Not sure where to post this, thought the general forum would be a good spot though. Of the dozens of White Sox games I've been to I have never been able to get the park early enough to see BP. The only game I went to this year (I believe it was April the 22nd) - I arrived as they were taking the protective cages off the field. I have some nice seats in the left field bleachers for tonights game and would like to get the chance to catch some balls from batting practice. Can anyone suggest a time to be there by? I was thinking somewhere in the range of 1 and a half to 2 hours before first pitch. Any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated.
  13. Rally Crede wears a live rattlesnake as a condom!!!!!
  14. HI all, I'm looking to pick up tickets to two of the upcoming games against the Blue Jays in early August. I have been only to two games this year and both times I used Ticketmaster. I really don't feel like doing that again. I am buying tickets for a larger group of people this time and I don't want to deal with their convenience charges ($4 a ticket?). I can't help but think there is a better way to go about this. I was thinking about taking a drive up to the park and buying them directly but I wouldn't know where to go to get em. Any help would be much appreciated.
  15. Has Man Soo ever caught for anyone in the MLB? If he is such a legend in the Korean League why is he just our bullpen catcher?
  16. 5/1/05 Section 103/Row 8/Seat 5 Absolutely great game to go to, 8-0 Sox win! Awesome seats too that were made better by a druken heckler over in 102. He kept yelling at Bobby Higginson calling him "Magglio's replacement" among other things. In the first inning or so, my buddy and I each chose our respective pick to click. Mine was Timo, and his was Aaron - both contributed to the win. Although, Timo's homer (right nearby me - by the visitor bullpen) and squeeze bunt were huge.
