Thomas takes high road in response to Williams
White Sox Josh replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is anybody listening to ESPN 1000 right now? It is Bash Frank Night. They are saying that Frank should of run that shuttle drill even though he couldn't and they are saying it was lame to come with a doctors note. Also they are saying he wasn't loved by the fans? Did they see the game on May 31st last year when he came off the DL? -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Who exactly are these people that have 'defended what Frank has said' (besides White Sox Josh, of course)? I've said multiple times that Frank shouldn't have said what he said. Same goes for Steff. Same goes for Greasy. Same goes for witesoxfan. Same goes for J4Life. Same goes for Jackie Hayes. I don't think he should of said what he said. I have said that. -

Also on Silvy & Carmen they talked about an interview with Greg Walker. They asked him what he thought of Frank. He said that Frank was great and easy to work with. He said he was well respected by his teammates and others. Why would Greg Walker lie? -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) That excuse only works for Frank and not Kenny, I bet, right? he was caught saying it on f***ing tape. I heard what he said and he wasn't misquoted. If anything they made it sound less mean in the papers. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Once again, who was he ripping? Did he take personal jabs at Kenny or Jerry? Did he diss Ozzie? Did he disss any of the players or fans? What in here is ripping on the team. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) He wasn't ripping the sox organization? I'd like to know how he's supposed to get respect after he's gone. Hell, no one said a damn word about him til yesterday. Respect? I think Frank got enough, and was very unappreciative. See: First pitch sometimes when you are very angry (I'm sure Frank was) you can say things that are so stupid because you let you emotions get in the way of your brain. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Exactly, how can an interview that is printed verbatim be misquoted. It probably wasn't verbatim. I don't doubt he said that stuff however he probably said more that was cut out. For example here is what he could of said: He left me a message a week after all that blew up in Chicago. I never got back because it's a done deal now. What's he going to tell me now, a week later, after the whole city has made their point? I've got a lot of respect for Jerry Reinsdorf, I do. He has been great to me and I have no animosity for with him. But I really thought, the relationship we had over the last 16 years, he would have picked up the phone to say, "Big guy, we're moving forward. We're going somewhere different. We don't know your situation or what's going to happen." I can live with that. I really can. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Hardly. As you can see from the format of the article the entire interview/conversation was printed. doesn't mean s***. You can cut things out in an interview. You can chose what you want to be put in the quote. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Well, my Armenian cousin once bought a churro at the park while standing next to JR. He claims that JR and KW did indeed try to contact Frank. STFU. I don't give a s*** if you believe me.

He said he was misquoted and I believe him. I just finished junior theme and our teacher taught us how to change a quotes meaning without actually taking adding words to it. For example i found an article pretty much trashing Quentin Tarantino (guy who i picked to my junior theme about). The quote was this: "People think Tarantino is the Orson Wells of his generation but he is not. He is no different than any other director." Here what I used in my paper: "Tarantino is the Orson Wells of his generation." It is perfectly legal what I did. I am not adding words to it. That is probably what happened with Frank. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) Source...? i know somebody whose friends with one of the minority share holders. He is from Israel I think. He said that Kenny made no attempt but JR did want to bring him back but wanted medical information first. Kenny made no attempt to see how he was doing.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) Looking from Franks perspective, I can understand why he is upset. The best player any of us have ever seen in this organization, yet he was not let go on the best terms and he is upset because he is being replaced and not given another opportunity (and even worse that the white sox are really good). I think everyone just needs to let Frank be upset and I think after some time he'll come back and only be remembered as the greatest white sox (and one of the greatest players) of his era. that is what i have been trying to tell people. Kenny made no attempt at bringing him back or even checking on his health. It was pretty much a "don't let the door hit you on your way out" kind of thing. I wish Frank would shut up but I can see where he is coming from. I think KW is way out of line. I read the interview and he really didn't say anything that bad. He didn't disrespect KW or JR. Kenny should be fined for what he did.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) I don't recall Robin leaving on bad terms. I do recall a bunch of players leaving on good terms as well. Carl Everett, Aaron Rowand, Miguel Olivo, Greg Walker, Roberto Alomar, and Sandy Alomar Jr. just to name a few. Why did he not mention them? Roberto Alomar and Miguel Olivo left on awful terms. Don't you remember Alomar pretty much calling KW a liar.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) you can't be serious right? he will probably look at his comments and regret saying them.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) And one thing that's really pissing me off is that it seems people are gonna side with Kenny no matter what because he helped bring us a World Series title and Frank never did. That's the most retarded logic I've ever heard. Half this board wanted Kenny fired when it looked like we might blow a 15 game lead. i agree. I think Kenny has done a fine job as a GM however he needs to shut up. Frank didn't say anything that was that bad to be honest. It was nowhere close to what Magglio said last year.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) I'm sorry but the comments in that article were idiotic. Your prime is between 37-40? Why not take it further and say that el duque is in his prime. GMAFB. and Jim Thome is in his prime? Look Jim Thome is a bigger risk than Frank Thomas because he is being paid more money. I love the fact that the Sox got Thome however he is just as big of a risk.
-
he will probably apologize to Kenny before he comes in anyways.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) I've ended 4 of the past 7 seasons early due to injuries, including the past 2 due to injuries in the same part of my body. I was on the 40-man roster of a World Series winning team. I can also see the White Sox biggest weakness if a very good lefty bat - while Carl Everett is solid at the plate, he should really not be starting anymore. Jim Thome's nearing the end too, but he's got huge power and has shown it in his career with 4 seasons of 40 homers or more in a row, including one season with 52 homers. I also see how there is pretty much no chance in hell I'm going to come back, or that if I do, it will be as a lefty killer off the bench. Perhaps he could have tried answering the phone when KW called, or returning the phone calls if I miss them? You aren't the only Frank Thomas fan left. He'll be my favorite ever, and I'm almost positive nothing will change that ever. It doesn't mean he's not out of line with what he's saying. He's completely out of line with what he's saying. If anyone should have taken the high road, it's Frank. No one forced him to do the interview. Put yourself in KW's shoes. Hell, put yourself in your shoes. (take note WSJ, ahead of time, I do not intend to offend you) You made a choice - one that involves saying Kyle Orton should start at QB for the Bears. You probably regret making it, but nothing can be done to change what you said. People take shots at you due to your comments. You can take the high road for a while and ignore it, but eventually, after so much of it, isn't it hard to stay on the high road? lol. I don't regret making that choice. I still feel he should of started. With that being said Nobody does anything when people attack me yet I am the first one suspended if I respond. Now back to Frank and Kenny. I think Frank probably should of not said anything and he when he reads his comments in the paper he will probably admit to that. however Kenny is not right either and he went way overboard. You don't call him an idiot period. I have no problem with Kenny saying We are a better team without you here. But he attacked Frank and he owes him an apology as does Frank to Kenny. However Frank never attacked Reinsdorf.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) You seem to be one of the few that thinks that. Kenny was pushed and prodded until he couldn't just shut up about it anymore. If he had kept quiet, he'd just be a pussy that wouldn't stand up for his own team. From the way it sounds, the players are glad that Frank is gone and this whole thing could be a benefit to the chemistry. KW sees himself as a part of the team, and he won't let a spoiled fatass like Thomas speak so poorly of the organization as a whole. fatass? 6 months ago he was god around here? Am I the only Frank Thomas fan left?
-
QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) WOW it wasn't even close to being as bad as what KW said. Frank never called JR an idiot. Never. He just said he was upset how it ended and you know what I agree with him. Do I think he should of opened his mouth like that. No i don't but I think he has a right to be upset after the way Kenny treated him this off season. Kenny never checked out his health or made any real effort to try and get something done with Frank. Look at through Frank's perspective.
-
Shut up Kenny. Please. Just STFU. Take the high road. What Frank said wasn't that bad.
