What could the Sox get for Mackowiak ?
earthshiner replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I see five bench spots open on this team. 1. Hall is obvious. C 2. Perez because someone on this team needs to hit lefties can play 1b/3b/LF/RF 3. Ozuna stays because he is the fastest guy on the team and Pauly/Thome/AJ/Crede/Perez are gonna need a runner late in games. can play SS/2B/3B/LF 4. Erstad or Terrero depending on Anderson and Pods if either of them don't start the year on the team then it will be Terrero. both play the entire OF and Erstad 1B 5. That leaves Cintron and Mackowiak. If you get rid of Cintron then Ozuna is your top backup middle IF. Seeing as how we don't really have depth in our org as SS or 2B and with Fields ready and waiting in AAA I think that makes Makowiak expendable. Not saying he is bad but there is no room for him. Cintron can play SS/2B/3B. Makowiak can play 3B/OF/2B note, I am not saying these guys are good at the positions I listed but they have played a significant amount of games there. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) If I ever caught the HR ball which eclipses Aaron, I'd do something outrageous like write "Roids" in permanent market then throw it back on the field. What's awesome is no one would know what to do with it. Can't just throw that baseball away, but neither could you send it to Cooperstown. That would be one of the single greatest moments in baseball history.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) My Pablo hi lite-the bunt against Oakland to win the game That was an awesome game. Big Franks return, Pablo chasing the squirrel out in left, Mackowiak's awesome pinch hit homer, and Pablos bunt.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) I like the idea of Ray in LF and hitting 2nd (if we could find someone else to lead off). I think he'd be a solid LF. I always remember Ray being as good of a 2nd baseman as I ever saw when it came to going back on flyballs. Why not lead off? The last five years he has not had on OBP lower than .356.

for some reason Ray Durham in left and leading off seems like a decent idea.

Cathchers: Charles Johnson Mark Johnson Brook Fordyce Josh Paul? 1B: Paul Konerko Frank Thomas 2B: Ray Durham Tony Grafinino SS: Jose Valintin 3B: Greg Norton Herb Perry Joe Crede LF: Carlos Lee CF: Chris Singleton Jeff Abbott RF: Magglio Ordonez DH: Harold Baines SP: James Baldwin Eldred Jon Garland Kip Wells Jim Parque Sirotka RP: Sean Lowe Bob Howry Keith Foulke Kelly Wunsch Mark Buerhle Lorenzo Barcello guess I am not fair weathered

I can't stand the way Fox covers baseball. Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Jeanie Zalakso are the worst thing to happen to baseball since Federal League

I've seen Bobby's cutter reach up to 99 about a week and a half ago. As Tom Waddle would say he is "filthy" out there.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Oh baby. Did anyone see the highlights from Baltimore versus Florida, where Cabrera was getting IBBed and swung at one of the balls, lined it into center and drove in a run? God, that's beautiful. I managed the varsity girls softball team in high school and we won a game doing the same thing. I always hate to see batters not ready to swing if its close like that. You know the defence wont be expecting it.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) I noticed if I watch a Sox game with national broadcasters or listen on the radio, I don't experience as many emotional extremes as when Hawk is broadcasting. He always gets me so pumped when the Sox take a lead and depressed when we suck like now. It's times like these that I don't like listening to Hawk because he makes every Sox loss hurt that much more. This is why I love Hawk. He has declined over the last year or so but he makes me feel the game. I am just as disgusted when the Sox blow a lead. So disgusted I change the channel for a few minutes just to calm myself down. If they come back and take the lead I am sometimes yelling right along with Hawk. He may not be a great play by play guy by todays emotionless ESPN standards, but I will take some half insane fan yelling any day.

Billy Koch and entire family battling a disease
earthshiner replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in The Diamond Club
Thats gotta be hell every day. It's too bad it happened to Koch as he was always a stand up guy even after he blew a save. I remember one game where he blew the save then in the Sox won it in the bottom of the 9th. After the game Koch said that the other closer "pulled a Koch." get well soon Billy -

They few cub fans I have talked to since then seem to think that plowing over the catcher is a somewhat new occurence. These are people that I thought actualy understood the game. conversation with my friend: Buddy: michael barrett is my hero me: Barrett is a b****. Buddy: aj needs to realize as a fellow catcher, that its just not cool to throw your forearm into another catchers throat, then proceed to slap the plate...after he was safe. me: Whatever *click*

Seeing Frank in is first AB back in the cell was a great moment. I was very glad to hear the standing ovation that he recieved. I stood up as soon as I saw the ball leave the bat. I started to clap then stoped for half a second. I then continued. I have been cheering for Frank 3/4 of my life, I was not going to stop now.

Official Cheer Frank Thomas Tomorrow Thread
earthshiner replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I will be at the game giving Big Frank the Big standing O that he deserves. I will never forget what he did in his first 7 years. I will never forget playing baseball in my back yard pretending to be him. I will never forget playing 'Frank Thomas Big HUrt Baseball' for super nintendo. As a kid in little league Frank was the man. -
much like whitesoxin' I live in an insnae cubs area. The Kohls I work at only has Sox stuff in kid sizes and a whole wall of mens Cubs Shirts. Beating the cubs is always pretty sweet.

Who is your favorite player from 80's, 90's, and 00's?
earthshiner replied to SoxFanInDallas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, only one player played for them in the three decades. Harold Baines. He was my favorite player from the time I was three. I have no idea why but I just became a fan for life. each time the Sox got him back was awesome. -
gotta give it to my man Joe. "I CAUGHT IT!!!"

I saw this at Best Buy last week and for some reason did not buy it. Maybe I will on Friday, I should be getting a decent paycheck.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Don't forget about Pedro Lopez. Kevin Walker gets a ring. So I guess that means Burke gets a ring. -
still looks strange. I still hope he hits 500
